Well i opened the novel and nearly got a head ache the text is so small lol and i noticed the chapters are long so i was curious as to how many chapters you guys think we should read each week also i thought maybe we shouldtake two weeks to read allotted chapters instead of weekly thus ensuring everyone enough time to finish the chapters, however i thought we could still meet every week to discuss the book. I wondered if Friday at seven still worked for everyone if not I'm open to suggestions  |

Thanks moon:) one of the many reasons I'm glad you're a member of this book club is that you can find places like that for us to get the book as i am unaware of such sites I'm not always successful. I looked at bunches of sites offering pdf copies, but ultimately did not find one I trusted enough to reccomend. I'm pretty sure my copy will be in on Monday. By the way, my library has a great service--you can check out ebook copies. If I had a reader I'd use that service, but ultimately I'm one of those people who loves the feel of a real book, and if I own it, makes notes in the margins. |

I wondered if Friday at seven still worked for everyone if not I'm open to suggestions I hate to tell you, but the older you get, the smaller that damn text becomes.  It may be available through your library in a Large Type edition. Mine offers a number of those. Also, did you get a paperback edition? If so, you might want to first try ordering one in hardback, as the text will be larger. I'll be better able to give a recommendation about how much to read per week when I get my copy in, but I think we've discovered that if we don't give new ground to cover and meet at least once a week to discuss it, we lose our momentum and things founder. Friday nights at 7 are fine with me, but I know that doesn't work for AVP. She hasn't expressed any interest in this book, but I know it's one she would absolutely love, if she hasn't read it before. Does somebody want to contact her and invite her to join us in reading it, as well as ask her about meeting times? |

I think she's gone for the weekend and her phone is off. How about making it a little earlier? Is that possible? Like 5pm? Regardless, I'll shoot her a message on Facebook. I know she'd love to read this book as well, I just wonder why I hadn't thought to mention it to her when we talked a couple days ago.

You KNOW this is a book AVP will absolutely love. We definitely should get her in on it.

I do not have Timmys number but i will send him a pm. I was also wondering about anti i know she said she wanted to read this book but i haven't heard anymore from her. I will also pm avp i may be mistaken but i thought she too had said she was interested in this novel. Moon that its discouraging news about the text i may need those audio books after all my eyes are getting bad and i haven't had the time to stop to get new contacts.  |

My copy came in today. ![]() So, how about we get started? Since Chloe's Kindle copy goes all the way through most of chapter one, I'd suggest we do the first chapter this week. How many pages is it supposed to be? I think I found a download of the book online for free that I can read off my computer if it is, the copy i found has 232 pages

The hardback version I have is 543 pages long, but that doesn't mean that yours is short.
The book has 9 chapters, the last of which is "The Shot."
If you could join us it would be wonderful, because I know you would be deeply affected by this novel, and you'd never be the same after reading it.
I would love to have the perspective of someone like you, who does so many good things for others, and has a belief, like Owen Meany, that they have a purpose and are an instrument for something bigger than themselves.
The concept of heroes is where both of our interests allign, and I have a feeling you have important things to say about this story.

I know the importance of shared experiences from our whole history as a group, but also how vital that experience is in the books and movies we've enjoyed together in the Synchro Lounge.

Just trying to confirm fridays at six good for everyone This particular week I have a scheduling conflict with Friday, as I'll be away helping with our local library's Christmas event from about 6 pm eastern time till around 9:30 pm. But this is the only week that it should be a problem. |

Wait a sec... I have a scheduling conflict this Friday AND Saturday!  This Friday, my aunt and her husband, and my great aunt and uncle are coming over to my house to celebrate both mine and my grandmother's birthdays. Since my Grandmother's birthday is on the 9th, we've always celebrated mine and hers together. Saturday will be my second birthday dinner with my mom, my maternal grandmother, and my sister. I can hope for 9pm, but I may or may not be late. This is only for this week though. |

To be honest, I'm hesitant to say no I won't have a conflict on Sunday because it is the 9th and I'm not sure if my Grandmother would want us all to go out to eat on her birthday. Let's just keep it on Friday at 9pm, if I'm a little late, that's fine.
