I was watching the new episode as it aired and suddenly the power blinked off and then back on. Honestly, it was only a split second, so quickly that I did not have time to blink. The satellite went through the initialization process for 27 minutes. I lost all 27 minutes of the show and the same thing for The Mentalist. It never takes the system that long to reboot.
It came back on when the boss was talking to the girl who was shedding tears of joy. I missed most of what he said to her and I did not see him work with her.
I thought Brad was high the way he was talking and making comments about flirting. He thought "the boss" was a party guy because of the long hair and maybe he was trying to bond with him on that level. Then, he shifted gears and showed a different personality. What did the boss say to him in the final interview?
Terrell was a good employee. I think people do not compliment him enough because he looked shocked when the boss said he was impressive. His whole face lit up. What did the boss say to him in the final interview.
The final interviews are my favorite part and I missed them.

I'll try to remember as much as I can. When did the power go off?
The boss admonished Brad for his flirting and said he was very glad he gave Brad another chance because he felt Brad could be a good employee if properly mentored. He said Brad seemed to have had everything when growing up (the other employees went through adversity and overcame) and he felt he didn't need to try hard. He said Brad knew the merchandise and knew what he was doing, but flirting was inappropriate. And he liked that Brad had worked for a charity and suggested Habitat for Humanity. It ended with them hugging.
Something really weird: I had to add time to make sure this show would record, and it did start late after football, and yet "Jeopardy" started on time after the 11:00 news.
Did you see the black man with the long hair? The boss just kept giving him more and more money. All of the employees except Brad got lots of money. Brad was lucky to still have a job.

Nothing? Well, I do remember the black man had a stepfather who he regarded as being like his father, and who was murdered. He also had a son. The boss was going to provide for the son.
The cute cashier was going to get a car, and her student loans paid off, and money to further her education.

This week it was my turn to get the reveal cut off.
I thought I had set TiVo to record an extra hour every week. It turned out I had done that only for the first week, and wouldn't you know it. Two weeks in a row CBS has a late game.
The garbageman was a great guy. My garbagemen don't have to work that hard because our trucks have these arms that pick up the containers and dump them in the back. I don't know how many towns they work for.
Busted! The man working with trees deserved better but he wasn't as bitter as I expected. At least he knew his message was getting to the right person.
There is a newspaper columnist whose TV Q&A column used to appear in a local paper. I still see it online. He just happens to work for the Pittsburgh newspaper and he said taxpayer money was not used for whatever the city employees got at the end.
Charlotte does not have a hands-on mayor. The big criticism of Pat McCrory, after he became governor after serving as Charlotte mayor for longer than anyone in my lifetime, was that he worked for Duke Power during all those years and Duke was able to get away with a lot, which is why they had a serious water pollution problem next to a coal plant that ended up becoming Virginia's problem and led to legislation passed last week. Even though Charlotte is now bigger than Pittsburgh and even has a steel industry, the mayor is just a figurehead and a professional city manager uns the government.

I am having the same problem on Sunday. I manually set the show to end one hour later. Maybe it did not do that because the show was already in progress, but actually the previous program was still on.
The Sanitation Department man was given money to fix up his mother's home and money to help the animal shelter. He was also given money for his personal benefit. The Mayor plans to improve the route that the workers must drive.
The Mayor told the housing lady he was making her a supervisor which would give her a $20,000 raise, gave her $20,000 for a down payment on her home and he was giving her money to help people get their homes. He also gave her money for her son's education.
He promised to change the hours for the forestry guy and get him better equipment. I do not recall if he gave him cash.
He gave the carpenter money for a down payment on the church.
They were all thrilled.

The show is moving to Friday. I enjoyed today's episode. The boss was disappointed in the attitude and way some of his employees carried out their duties, but he also had some excellent employees whom he rewarded generously. The CEO was very proud that he owns breastaurants. He said he patented the term. I wondered sometimes if the employees knew they were being recorded when they misbehaved. The bartender stated she did not wear a bikini because they would be on TV; so obviously they do know.

Of course they know, but they try to ignore the cameras. I'm surprised they don't explain what the show is about like they used to. We have no idea what they thought was taking place.
I felt so sorry for that girl. She did nothing that would justify getting fired. Employees who have done much worse get a second chance. So what if she didn't have enthusiasm for that particular company? She could learn and one of these days take a better job. There have been bosses who helped employees get that better job even though they hated to lose such a good employee.
I didn't think much of letting the one girl get her breasts done, and on another site I go to, it appears that is a major controversy.
As you can imagine, I liked looking at the girls. It didn't bother most of them and they seemed to have brains.
The girl who was promoted from waitress to manager still looked hot.
I am curious about those two whose faces were blurred. Everyone has to give permission so something obviously went wrong with that. And I guess those were the girls who quit.

When they told us what the employees thought the show was about, it was easy to understand the way they acted. I did not hear anyone mention his "fake" background or what he was supposed to achieve.
The make-up person did a much better job with Bikini's CEO than the disguise from last week. Last week, the hair was obviously fake and would help to make people suspicious.
The bartender was friendly and very open about how she felt, and it seems she was punished for it. I do not think he should have fired her publicly and I understand her anger. They could have added the bit about firing at the end when they give us the status of the employees. I guess she gave permission before she knew she was fired, poor thing.
Paying for the breast implants is generous and she will be able to go to an excellent doctor instead of trying to get it done cheaply. She said she wanted bigger boobs so it is not as if he requested she have her breast enlarged.

“Maaco” (1-3-15) When Maaco President Jose Costa goes under cover, he gets overheated when he finds an employee is cutting corners.
I loved this episode. Maaco was a good episode to follow last week’s fiasco. The boss was fair and generous. He listened to the employees grievances and took action on them. This is the Undercover Boss that I love. The employees thought he was a foreigner that was trying to win a home in America. Jim, the dent repair guy, was a hard worker, but he rushed through the jobs. I think he should have realized the job would take longer while he was training a novice. Saying he cuts corners was a poor choice of words. He is lucky he was not fired on the spot when he said Maaco gives cheap paint jobs and does sub-par work. The boss gave him 30 days to improve his performance. After being moved to another location, Jim left Maaco. Christian, the painter, was a good worker and a nice guy. He did not seem to get angry when Alberto (the boss) ruined the paint job and they had to start over. The boss offered to personally train him in skills he needs to run his own store. He also asked him to come to headquarters and develop a Spanish-speaking training program. Christian was thrilled to do that. The boss will pay his rent for a year, gave him $20,000 and will pay expenses for his parents to fly to America for the birth of his child. Matt, the store owner, wanted to pay off his mortgage so he could invest money into repairing his store. He felt Maaco spent the money paid by the franchisees to market for more owners but did not help the current owners. The boss will invest $35,000 in renovations and will give the store all of the latest gadgets. Matt has already started working with an architect. Rambo, the utility guy, worked too hard and had to work outside in freezing temperatures and blazing heat. His job would have been difficult for someone who did not have the physical problems he talked about. He did not say it, but I got the impression he would not get paid if he took a sick day. When he was younger, he worked eight part-time jobs in order to help support his family. I guess that helped him to get accustomed to working under adverse conditions. The boss will provide a work area that has a heater so he does not have to work outside in the cold. He will also give him $20,000 to help make his life a little easier. Rambo bought a vehicle which makes getting to work easier. I loved the statement that Rambo made, “The best way to express it is I had an 18 wheeler parked on my shoulder and somebody removed it.” Acey, the detailer, was an excellent employee. Although he kept saying his manager wanted everything done correctly, he never sounded like he was complaining about it. The boss could not remember the order of the detailing sequence. Acey told him over and over again and he could not do it. The boss sent Acey’s family on a vacation to Disney World and set up a college fund for the four children, gave him $25,000 plus $10,000 for a down payment on a home. Then, the dude did something that shocked me… After taking the vacation, he left Maaco to pursue another dream! I wonder if the boss is obligated to follow through on the other promises to Acey. It seems the dude could have hung around for a year or two before he ditched the company.

I'm glad Jim got a second chance. But he sure wasn't nice to Maaco.

There was so much emotion in this episode…tears of grief and tears of joy. All of the employees were trying their best to do a good job even though they were not entirely pleased with management. I think the real problem is that the CEO was twice removed from the employees. Phenix had a contract with the “owners” and the owners sublet booths to the stylists. It did not seem that the stylists had any idea they could have complained to someone other than the “owner”. I do not recall how much money the company makes so I was surprised at how generous the boss was. She gave the employees an astounding amount of gifts. Modell’s is the only boss I remember being that generous. The boss' salon skills were not fully described. I am wondering if she had professional training or learned her skills solely by working with her family. A professional knows how to cut hair and do a weave. White people get hair weaves also. I was amused that she freaked out over doing the pedicure. We did not see the feet being soaked, but maybe that part was edited. If the feet were not soaked first, I understand why she was scared. Gifts to the employees: Michelle was given $10,000 cash, rent free for over a year and a vacation to Maui.
G was given $5,000, money for the cruise, and $40,000 for daughter's education.
Felisa was given a new dryer; renovation to reduce noise in the salon; opportunity to develop an African American hairline which will be named after her, along with a percentage of the sales; $10,000; and tuition for two years for her two children.
Richie was given $5,000 to host a fundraiser to help his daughter, a new car, and up to $250,000 to buy a house.

The one man had $2 million in medical bills last week. There was no way, right? Well, a fund-raiser would help. It's just that sort of situation that Obamacare is supposed to prevent from happening, but too many people don't have coverage even now. And too many people can't pay for what they had before. I just don't see a solution.
Other than that, I don't really remember much.
So on to this week's episode.
The one guy was darn lucky. He wasn't all that different from the girl in the t-shirt, who got fired. But the boss decided he had potential and was willing to work with him. He didn't get that the customer is always right, but he can learn. I'm one of those really demanding customers, and with enough patience I can be made happy.
The man who talked about porn did answer the question that was asked. Looking back, he probably should have said he couldn't talk about that stuff. I was amazed at how well the boss thought he did, and how much the boss did for him, because it looked like that one issue was going to be a lot more serious.
The woman in charge of fixing the cars and testing the drivers showed about as much emotion in the final scenes as Captain Holt of "Brooklyn Nine-Nine". And said the same sort of things he would. I had to go back to see what was said about the Chinese-looking driver who did so poorly, and it was there I realized she was capable of showing emotion.
I don't get why he went out with two drivers, since each different employee is usually someone who does a completely different job, but he did get some different impressions. The black woman was really good at her job. It's nice to talk with your passengers, I suppose, but let's face it. Some people are better off paying attention to the road, and I think the boss should have done that.

So true. The boss rode with the second limo driver because he was an "executive" driver for the Fortune 500, rather than for young folks out on the town. He wanted to see how they handled executives. I think the boss was not hard on the driver who talked about porn because they both had a substance abuse problem and he knew how hard the man's life had been. I think the man will learn from the sexual harassment course because he did not seem like a vulgar person. I am glad there has been only one show that was disappointing.

Oh, right, executives.
That driver felt ashamed for confessing about his substance abuse problem, I'll bet, because if this man was lying about who he was, what else was he lying about? But of course they always tell the truth about their problems because that helps the show and the other person.
Going back to a previous show's company, Family Dollar shareholders have voted to be acquired by Dollar Tree. This is a much better deal than the one with Dollar General, which might have made the shareholders richer but would have hurt the Charlotte area headquarters employees greatly, and who knows what it would do to the stores? To get FTC approval a lot of stores would have had to be sold to meet antitrust requirements. And who knows if Family Dollar would have continued to exist? Dollar General is a similar chain. Dollar Tree is very different. The merchandise is cheaper but the stores are nicer. They just don't sell the items that would cost more than $1 like Family Dollar does.

I haven't seen last night's yet because of Miss Universe.
I haven't seen Friday's for reasons detailed on the Reign thread.
They'll probably rerun that one so I won't go to any trouble. I have time to watch the other shows I need to and numerous videos I need to watch, but first AVP has given us more "Saving Hope" which I can only hope won't be gone before I get to the library where I can watch them.
My cousin gave me speakers but I haven't hooked them up. But with my slow Internet I can't even attempt to watch anything at home. It's all I can do to get the images of the videos with the arrow pointing to the right to appear.

Rick Forman, CEO, Forman Mills, focused on sales but their processes made it difficult for the employees to do their jobs and I am glad the boss recognized he needed to make improvements. It seems that he had lost sight of what was happening down the line as the company grew.
The boss said in the beginning that he does not know how to take orders and he was not kidding. He was so bad at following directions that I wondered if he was deliberately acting as if he did not know what he was doing. But there was no doubt he did not know how to control the forklift. He was a good sport about the criticisms though.
He was very generous to the employees and made a wonderful decision to give back to the community.
Gifts:
He will give $1,000,000 annually to help the communities in which the stores are located.
Nikea – Because of her complaints, he is investing $3 million in improving service. He promoted her to front end manager and gave her a $17,000 raise. Maybe she will remain rather than transfer to Walmart.
Elizabeth – She is the one who told him to get off of the forklift. He paid off her vehicle so she would not need to worry about that expense. He gave her $5,000 for each of her three children to start a college fund for them.
Curtis – The maintenance supervisor was promoted to Warehouse Supervisor. The boss did not want him to ever be homeless again and offered to pay for a home up to $250,000. In addition to that, he asked him to head a new outreach program and doubled his salary.
Mishenda(sic) – In addition to installing a new price check system, he gave her a promotion that pays $25,000 more. I thought she would be more emotional about that raise, but she did get excited when he said he would pay for her son’s college education or the next four years. He also paid for a vacation to Disney World.
