I am here.
Questions:
Will the story begin by showing a kinder side to Corinne so that we will understand why the children continued to love her for so long after she abused them?
Why did the half-uncle not leave money for his family? Was he disinherited when he married Corinne?
Did Corinne fool her children from the very start? Did she know she could never reveal she had children?
What I would like to see:
The development of the love between Chris and Cathy.
Chris and Cathy telling the grandmother off.
Cathy flogging her grandmother.
Cathy torturing her mother over and over again. lol
Chris and Cathy telling Corinne off.
Chris and Cathy loving and taking care of the twins.
Scenes that show that Corinne did not plan all along to leave her children in the attic forever.

What an interesting question about the half uncle I'd never thought about that But I remember in the books it's revealed that he is too young at the time of money matters being discussed to have a say but it does make for an intriguing question and makes me wonder why this was not discussed when he was old enough to question I wonder if the fear instilled by Malcolm on nearly everyone had any effect on anyone wanting to disagree with him

Here are my hopes for the movie
The love between Cathy and Chris is portrayed correctly and tastefully
That this remake will give us more reasons to love the book the way the film gatsby did i want new levels of the characters to be revealed
That they didn't change anything too much as I've heard the ending is changed but only to make room for the sequel hopefully not too drastically
That things just are presented properly and I don't feel let down

My fears for this film are mainly that it will not stick to the book but I've heard that it does and that it will be beautiful

I agree it was probably the fear of Malcolm that prevented them from asking for the money.

Is the movie going to cover just the first book?

Here are the questions I received as part of the special materials
What scene from the novel do you expect to see in the film?
When the children were first brought to Foxworth hall did you think they would be locked away for so long or did you believe Corrine?
At which point in the film did you know Corrine wasn't being honest with her children?
At what point did you feel something more sexual was happening between Cathy and chris?
At what point in the film did Chris reveal his disappointment with his mother? Did you see it in his face or was it something he said?
Was there anything in the film that warned you of what Corrine might do to her children?
How do you think the actors portrayed their characters did you feel any of the actors were wrong for their part?
What is the most unexpected difference for between the novel and remade film?
Just using the film can you judge who poisoned the children?
After watching film what vc andrews novel would you like to see come to film next?

Who was your favorite character from the book?

Thanks for the info that the film is about the first book only. And I will be thinking about the questions as I watch the movie.
I expect to see the grandmother flog Corinne. That will set the stage for us to believe she is terrified of her parents and also being abused.

Who was your favorite character from the book? I liked all of the children, but I think Christopher was my favorite. He loved so strongly and had so much faith in people. Let's see if that changes after I watch the movie. I cannot recall if you told us who your favorite character is???

Well my favorite character is Cathy For these reasons and a million more
She felt everything and described it deeply and almost poetically to us
She is a pessimist but she manages to deal with that and strive always for a better life
She was determined and smart
Because of her narrating she makes you feel what she feels she makes you live it too
She was always so observant not allowing love to cloud her judgement with her mother she saw things about Corrine right off that Chris's love for their mother blocked out

But, of course, that was during the second book.

What memorable scene do you expect won't make the film I am guessing Catherine and Chris first sexual scene will probably be changed from the way it was in the book.

During the commercial breaks, I will jot down some comments. Do you want to do it that way? Are you able to pause the movie?

Post by gilmorefanalways on Jan 18, 2014 20:22:17 GMT -5
Yes commercial notes will do fine until after I think
Seems like it's doing well There are a few inaccuracies but I can overlook them I think it's because they had limited time
I had first believed the grandmother didn't sound so mean until she held up her fist They aren't wasting time in letting us no what's going on
|
|
|
Post by AntiArbitrator on Jan 18, 2014 20:28:29 GMT -5
Yep, the fist let us know that the grandmother will hurt the children and their mother did not speak in their defense.
We can already see that Chris is willing to look on the bright side.

I thought they would show the flogging, but they did not. It was shocking that Corinne received so many lashes. Her mother made it sound like she wanted to beat her, but I thought the father made her beat Corinne.
She sounded as if she could wrap her father around her finger so it sounded possible.

Seems they are moving along fast
Seems almost like the grandmother cares until she starts acting crazy

The gift of the real flowers surprised me. I don't know if Grandmother did that in the book.
I see what you mean that Catherine does not accept any B.S. from her mother.

Looks as though the mother is quickly transforming into the grandmother
I have read the book over thirty four times and with reading it so much I guess I've forgotten the feel of many scenes but this movie is def putting the feeling back into witnessing the scenes again

Post by gilmorefanalways on Jan 18, 2014 21:04:54 GMT -5
Yes she did do that in the book

You are right in the book the father chose the punishment but the grandmother is the one that gave te whippings
