4.01 "Panopticon" 9/23/14 I think the show did a good job of showing how the crew was coping with the changes in their lives. It does not bother me that Root is the liaison for The Machine because she is the one who truly believes in The Machine and never doubted her. Whenever Samaritan gets a fix on Sameen or one of the others, The Machine overrides the "deviant" category and inserts "irrelevant". Good girl! Reese has the perfect job as a Detective for the same agency as Fusco. I am sure they were being funny when they gave Reese the name "Crockett". I like Fusco and it's good that we will see more of him. I was amused at Harold's alias, Whistler, and that he was teaching the most boring sounding course ever. I was surprised that many students signed up for it but it must have been the only course they could get in that time slot. I did notice Harold looked surprised when the man said he read his dissertation. The reason was revealed at the end of the episode. Sameen was not given a job that fits her personality. She was supposed to promote the sale of perfume to customers, but she was spraying the perfume directly in their faces. Her expressions were funny when she was sitting in the "positive thinking" seminar. That was not anything she would enjoy. Her "date" made her happy. When Root told her to check the dating site, I realized there must be something special in store for Sameen. Harold and Bear are now onboard and we can look for some more interesting exploits. *facepalm* Did the code in the dissertation lead Harold to the hiding place of The Machine? I am so excited and I bet Root will be jealous if it is the location.

Sameen got into a truck with some guys who look like criminals. But in her spare time, she would certainly help the crew.
Everyone else is helping people.

Finally watched the season premiere of POI. It was great. My first big question is HOW did Reese become a detective so quickly? Usually that takes years.
Why did Shaw drive off with the crooks?
Did Harold find them a new headquarters?
Loving it so far.

Did Harold find them a new headquarters? Loving it so far. The Machine is alive and well. She must have done some major manipulation to make Reese a detective in New York because he was brought in for questioning there and he should have been in their data banks. Shaw looked very pleased to see her date was leading to some excitement. I think Shaw is not interested in being a law-abiding citizen. "Did Harold find them a new headquarters?" At first, that is what I thought. When Harold looked so very pleased, I thought that it might be a headquarters plus a major computer network. Only computers would make Harold look that astonished. I am loving it too.

One of the things I like about this show is that they show the strength and intelligence of everyone, not just the geniuses. Fusco did a good job in solving the puzzle and so did Reese. We already knew Harold, Root and Shaw were extraordinarily intelligent. Bear went on a job with Reese. I am struggling to empathize with Claire. The team really tried to help her but it seems she will be working for Samaritan. I hope Harold does not jeopardize the team's security by trying to help her when they run into her again.

4.10 The Cold War (12-16-14)
Samaritan demonstrates its true power by taking control of New York for 48 hours and erasing crime from the city in an attempt to lure The Machine out of hiding.
The episode showed flashbacks of John Greer (the white haired man who helps Samaritan) when he was a young agent. He became disenchanted with governments when he learned his boss and many others were double agents and could not be trusted.
Samaritan set up a meeting in which Root and Samaritan’s spokesperson could let the machines hold a conversation by using them as a mouthpiece. That was especially interesting because Samaritan used a child genius and it was bizarre to hear him voice Samaritan’s views about world domination.
Samaritan demonstrated its power by keeping New York drama free for an entire day… …no crime …no power outages …no traffic jams …trains and subway ran on time (a small miracle)
Then Samaritan showed The Machine what would happen if no truce was made. The next day there was chaos because there were more crimes committed than the police could handle. Our team helped as many people as they could, but they need a Plan B.

After the New York demonstration, Samaritan set a plan in motion for a world-wide demonstration. The first thing it did was to initiate a virus that would crash the market on Wall Street. John Greer looked smug as the virus started to work.
Harold had Shaw on lockdown because he wanted to keep her safe from the assassins who work for Samaritan. She became frustrated because John and the rest of the team were frantically working and she was in hiding. She left the subway lair so that she could help. When Finch returned and saw Shaw was gone, he became extremely agitated and worried for her safety. He contacted Root and she said The Machine told her to go to Wall Street but she does not know why.
The promo for the episode that airs in January shows the whole team is in danger.

We were 20 minutes into the episode before I understood what was happening, but that did not bother me. They did an excellent job of showing how Harold taught The Machine to think and encouraged it to make a decision during the chess game. The flashbacks also showed us how quickly The Machine could analyze a million scenarios.
It was exciting and entertaining to see what would happen to each team member depending on which decision was made. It was also sometimes amusing like when Harold admired the painting.
They could have left out the kiss!
I hope Shaw is okay.

Wasn't this show about helping people not to much about the machine? Excellent observation! There was a shout-out to "helping people" when Root asked Harold where Shaw was. He responded that she could not join them and that she was still trying to save people because The Machine was still giving them numbers. I hope they return to the saving people format. I enjoyed that more than watching them battle Samaritan; however, I did really enjoy the last episode, except for the kiss.

"Guilty" was very good. Harold received a jury summons and was unable to avoid jury duty. I think The Machine made a juror's cell phone ring so he would be thrown out of the jury box. Harold was the alternate so he had to replace the man. Determining who was trying to fix the verdict and whether the defendant was guilty or innocent was exciting. Zoe, a fixer who worked with Reese previously, was in the courthouse and insisted on helping Reese. Reese and Zoe were able to determine who the guilty parties were and Harold certainly did his part in saving people.
In last week's episode, the team tracked down the truck and the location where Shaw was taken, but learned that a different woman was in that truck. The Machine insisted that Harold and Root stop trying to find Shaw. Root was very upset about that and said farewell to Harold. We then saw Shaw was in a room with the white haired man who works for Samaritan.
Zoe really likes Reese and tried to entice him to spend some personal time, but Reese is still upset about the people they have lost. He has finally decided to open up to the police psychologist.
They have not forgotten about Dominic, the drug czar who challenged Elias, and think he is behind the disappearance of several men. Fusco and the team will investigate that.

This was very exciting. Reese was investigating a Person of Interest who worked for a software company. Fusco tracked down vital information while Reese kept tabs on the PoI. Harold had to let them handle that while he tried to help a hacker who was a previous PoI.
Fortunately, the current PoI was an excellent mixed martial artist and was good at defending herself because one of the bosses at her company was willing to kill her to keep her quiet about the illegal software. It required Reese, the PoI and Fusco to help save lives. When the lady told Fusco he needed to work on his right hook, he made me laugh when he responded “Stand him up. I’ll go again.”
Harold really tried to help the hacker but she is another pawn in Samaritan’s game. She betrayed Harold and he would have been captured and taken to Samaritan if Root had not come to the rescue.

I enjoyed this episode and it was lighter fare than some of the recent ones. The original person of interest owed money to the Cartel so she gave them information on when and where Dominic's people would be transferring a large sum of money. That made Dominic want to kill her. She was unconcerned about being in danger because she felt she had handled the transaction perfectly. It is difficult to protect someone who does not think she needs help.
When Fusco and Reese took the woman against her will, Dominic kidnapped her "boyfriend". The guy was totally clueless that the woman had conned him because she wanted to get information about his place of employment. He stayed high on weed and was amusing in spite of getting beat up by Dominic's guys and a daring rescue by Reese. When she "broke up" with him at the end, he was puzzled and asked the guys what had he done. They played it off and did not tell him he had been conned.
Fusco, Harold and Reese worked well as a team to protect the two PoI.
Root is on an interesting assignment, apparently to infiltrate a software company. She is still upset about Shaw and we have not seen Shaw.
Bear chewed one of Harold's expensive leather shoes.
The PoI was using a stick that looked similar to the one Sherlock and Joan use in "Elementary".
