Sylvester was actually on "The Price is Right". And as I expected, his behavior was quirky. And he did something I've never seen a contestant do.
Toby seems to have quit wearing his hat. Was there a reason?
I don't even remember what else happened and I have other stuff to do.

I thought I would enjoy seeing Sylvester on The Price Is Right, but I did not enjoy what he did. I wish it had been more humorous.
It seems like the show is setting up Happy and Toby's romance for failure. Toby's constant references to gambling are disturbing to Happy and she has told him that but he continues to do it.
I must have stopped watching before the episode ended because I do not recall what happened with Cabe's friend. Need to finish watching, but I have a lot of shows to catch up on.

Finished watching and it was a good episode. The only part that made me nervous was Happy searching the criminals' garage. That was taking a long time and Walter needed to stall the guys. Walter had a chance to race one of the fancy sports cars and won the race. I do not think he needed to apologize because he had stalled the guys for a long time and they were getting impatient.
It turns out that Toby's history with gambling helped them to make some decisions that led to a fortunate conclusion. I was not at all certain that Happy would stay with Toby. She explained why she was worried and Toby convinced her to stay with him. I still think that relationship is doomed because Toby is going to gamble again.
Cabe's friend was played by Eric Roberts whom I have seen in a lot of movies; for example, The Expendables, The Cable Guy, and The Dark Knight. The team was right and Cabe was wrong about trusting his friend. Mick used Cabe to find out where the weapon was hidden and then grabbed it before they could get there. After they caught Mick, Cabe turned him over to the police.
I noticed Paige has been getting a little bossy lately. She snapped at the team that they needed to stop talking and get moving because the clock was ticking. In the first season, she watched them in awe and tried to help them to adjust socially.

Walter's shirt was the same color as the Chuck Taylor shoes I was wearing when I watched.
Eric Roberts looked familiar but I don't know why.
Paige needs a purpose so if they need to be bossed around, and they're getting better with adjusting socially, she should do it. I once heard someone say she was sort of like their boss.
I did like seeing Cabe being tough with his friend.
Motels like that don't seem like dumps to me but I get that they are often crime scenes. But I've stayed in many motels like that one.

Paige makes a good boss for them. They can be stubborn so she does need to be tough sometimes.
I guess a motel is safe for a man, but I stay in hotels that have security or condos.

I don't know that motels are really that safe, but I've never had a lot of money and I've also never had problems. For most of my life one or both parents were with me.

Last night's episode recorded. I don't know why because my new TiVo has done a poor job of recording reruns. And "AFV" was new and it wouldn't have recorded if I hadn't told it to.

Scorpion was really good. The team, except for Walter, was having fun at the beginning of the episode by challenging each other to different games of skill. Toby did cheat at one of the games though. Walter is not skillful at sports.
While at a hospital, Toby looked at a patient who was having a seizure and instantly diagnosed him with an illness the attending physician would not have caught. After that, the team became involved in analyzing the problem and finding a solution.
The only outlandish thing they did was to extend a ladder from their vehicle to climb onto a moving truck. I thought Happy would do that because she does a lot of the physical stuff, but Walter did it.

Stunt people are amazing. I know it looked dangerous but you know they can do it safely.
Toby is wearing his hat again.
And, of course, nothing they did is logical based on real science but it's still very entertaining.

Do the episodes repeat on Sunday? Why was there an episode on last night? No, Saturday. It's a different show or shows each week and I don't know the logic they use to choose which ones. Usually there are two (or four if they are comedies), but sometimes they have a double dose of "48 Hours". I never watch any of these but I know how it works. For reasons I don't know, they did this. But here's why it made sense. They had a 90-minute episode and due to sports delays they were 30 minutes behind in the actual listings, but having a 90-minute episode made it possible to finish by 11 if the sports event ended on time--which it never does.

2.20 Djibouti Call (3-21-16)
The team must save Cabe when he is captured during a secret mission in Djibouti, Africa, with his protege, Tim Armstrong (Scott Porter).
|
|

Post by KyleEl on Mar 24, 2016 15:04:36 GMT -5
Scott Porter was George on "Hart of Dixie". It took me a while to get over that.
They usually make up country names, and they did in the case of the country where Cabe and Tim were. But Djibouti was a perfect name for jokes. I found it curious that they said an advantage of that location for this listening device was the flat terrain. There were mountains where Cabe and Tim went. I was sure there were mountains in that part of the world.
Of course Team Scorpion never goes on a simple mission. The real reason they were there was kept secret.
Paige did such a good job pretending to be one of the buyers. And she was needed since Tim was tempted not to let that comment about his deceased colleague go unpunished.
The way the bullet hit Paige's jacket, I figured it was bulletproof, but then they acted like she was really hurt. In a way, she was.
I liked the way Tim made Paige smile at the end, until I realized Walter still wants her.
I was afraid Sylvester had broken the real artifact, which would have been a tragedy. The fake one sure did look good.
I never like watching Cabe get beat up but he sure is tough.

It was a good episode. Scorpion team does not follow protocol and they are nosy, but it pays off. When the agent returned for help, they had learned enough to be able to jump into action.
I agree Paige did a really good job. I hope they do not turn her into a daredevil though because she needs to care for her son.
I like the agent and hope he stays around awhile. Maybe Walter will stop being cautious and give a relationship between himself and Paige a chance.

I'm not ready to add anyone new. I forgot about the weird guy Walter was friends with, although he did make some valuable contributions. I'd rather have him if we're going to add anyone. If this guy sticks around it's going to remind me of his other show. Plus I will be bothered by his feeling for Paige.

I agree. Walter's friend was quirky and a good character. I hope the new guy does not take Cabe's place as their handler. There must be a reason he is there, but it could be just to give Walter competition.

2.21 Twist and Shout (3-28-16)
A deadly tornado threatens the lives of Team Scorpion during a mission to recover the remains of fallen Marines in Vietnam.

This was as exciting as I thought it would be. I bet the critics are tearing apart Walter's theory on how to defuse a tornado.
Sylvester and the kid stayed home because Ralph needed to make a presentation describing an amazing project he designed.
It is fortunate Sly was not on the trip because the airplane ran into turbulence which preceded a storm and tornado. They needed to modify some equipment so that they could detect remains of soldiers who died in Viet Nam 40+ years ago. The winds from the storm made it very dangerous for them to stay. The man who hired them insisted on staying to locate the remains before a construction crew destroyed the site. He had a special interest in completing the task because his father was one of the soldiers who was MIA.
Walter’s great idea of the week was to send cold air up into the tornado to cool the winds. The tornado needs warm air to fuel it so the cool air would break it apart. Walter and Paige had a close call and the tornado almost sucked them into the air. Walter used super human strength to hold onto Paige with one hand while holding onto a belt tied around a tree with the other.
Our guys really are heroes. In spite of very little time to complete their task, they helped to transport people from a nursing home to a shelter. Walter used mercury from some thermometers to weaken the tin covering the tunnel so he could kick it open and let people enter.

I can't remember which members of the team were in the truck, but one of those trucks has been around since the Vietnam War. I know this because I found a book, and magazine ads, which show Ford pickups and light duty trucks changed their front end every year from 1953 to 1973 and I can tell you which year for any of those. I couldn't believe Paige didn't blow away. She was really shaken up afterward, and she doesn't get shaken up easily. And yes, this was about as exciting as I could imagine. Without Ralph they would have been up the creek. And they actually saved those people in the nursing home in addition to everything else. And Toby has backup hats!

2.22 Hard Knox (4-11-16)
The team is hired by the Department of Defense to test the security at Fort Knox by trying to break in and steal a precious artifact.

Scorpion was fun to watch. They were offered a million dollars off the books (tax free) to test the new security system at Fort Knox. At first, Walter did not want to do that because it was too dangerous. But when it was suggested they could not handle the job, his ego made him take up the challenge.
Once again, Sylvester remained behind with Ralph, but they both helped the team.
I do not know how they can perform due diligence on the people who hire them, but several times the people have hired them under false pretenses.
I was happy that Ralph’s lawyer finally won a case in spite of looking incompetent.

Ralph was brilliant.
I know we decided weren't not going to wonder about the science, but if anyplace would be incapable of cell phone reception, it would be the Fort Knox vault. How are they communicating? Whatever they're using it always works.
And I enjoyed the episode. Even if they had an incompetent lawyer. I watched a movie over the weekend where this lesbian couple where the butch girl posed as a man (which was fraud) had a real estate lawyer who couldn't seem to do anything right, and their very competent neighbor (who I got the impression wasn't a supporter of "those people") took their case. So I had seen quite enough of that. But the guy on this show made the one in the movie look like a Harvard graduate.

Yeah, the lawyer in this show is ridiculously incompetent. If they keep him on the show, I hope they find a way to make him amusing.

Wow. Chernobyl II nearly happened. And watching how easily that concrete broke, it's no wonder they had to replace it with something else.
Our team has never been in so much danger. I noticed Paige could run even with her leg hurting.
And now we have Collins causing even more trouble.
I don't like to wear my progressive bifocals that often. So I mostly wear an older pair of single vision glasses that I can read with pretty well. Actually, better if the print's large enough since I can see well through the entire lens, not just the lower part. Wearing the bifocals helps me see better when I'm not wearing them, whatever that means.
And those older glasses look like the ones Collins wears. Which is unfortunate because they make him look insane.
