Synopsis: Eccentric genius Walter O'Brien leads a group of brilliant misfits who constitute Homeland Security's new think tank, helping defend against the high-tech threats of the computer age. The team -- dubbed Scorpion -- includes behaviorist Toby Curtis, mechanical prodigy Happy Quinn, and statistics guru Sylvester Dodd. While comfortable with one another, the team members struggle with understanding life outside their circle, so when they need help translating societal cues, they rely on the skills of Paige Dineen, a woman with a gifted young son.
Walter O'brien Happy Quinn (Mechanical genius) Toby Curtis (Psychologist/gambler) Paige Dineen (helps them to understand normal people) Cabe Gallo (Scorpion's handler) Sylvester Dodd (eidetic, germaphobe) Ralph Dineen (genius)

I thought I would like it and this is now one of my favorite shows. In the latest episode, "Father's Day", Scorpion was entertaining in addition to focusing on family matters. When Paige’s ex, Drew, left a message on the answering machine, the team was very curious about him. Paige told them to butt out, but they went behind her back and investigated him anyway. Toby was whimsical when he approached Drew and said his little dog was lost and he needed help. He returned and told the team all negative stuff about the guy. Then Drew showed up at the home base and Toby had to sneak around so he would not be seen. Toby looked silly because he was tipping around like a cartoon character.
I enjoyed seeing more of Walter’s youthful experiences with Cabe. Walter was a very cute kid. The case of the week involved an almost genius whom the team tried to help until they found out the guy was tricking them. That refreshed the anger Walter felt when he was betrayed by Cabe and he admitted to Cabe that he never forgave him for the early betrayal.
We were also treated to some abandonment issues Happy had with her father. It seemed unlike her to approach her father, but I guess she thought maybe she should take her own advice that a person should re-connect with his father. Her father is a mechanic so they have that in common. I wonder how long it will take her to reveal that she is his daughter.
There was another funny moment when the team went to the prison and the inmates were cat calling. Sylvester was worried that maybe Happy and Paige should not be there, and one of the team told Sylvester they were calling out to him.
The team did a brilliant job of solving the case but kept messing up when they confronted the criminals. I thought Cabe was unusually patient with them and seemed more concerned about their safety rather than yell at them. I just shook my head when Toby and Sylvester were fighting over who should control the drone and it crashed through a window and alerted the criminals. Later, Toby did a pretty good job reading Morse code, but made one mistake that sent the FBI attack team to the wrong building. They came up with a brilliant way to stop the hacker from completing the job but they put themselves in danger.
I like the way the episode ended with Walter watching over Ralph and Cabe watching over Walter.

I liked the flashbacks with Walter as well.
Who is Gabe, other than Mr. Kotter from "Welcome Back, Kotter"?
That wasn't a good idea not having a way to communicate. And these guys shouldn't be put in that kind of danger. But then we enjoy it.
I thought once again there were no major consequences to failing, but by the end there was a big problem.

When I saw rapper Method Man was going to be on, I didn't think that first guy seemed as tough as I remember him being on "Method and Red", which was sort of like "The Beverly Hillbillies" but with rappers. But then I saw the second man. THAT was him.
I found it curious they were investigating an ordinary murder, but their skills were needed.
I like how Ralph and his father can now have something in common, sort of.

1.08 Risky Business - A musician helps the team investigate the murder of a music blogger.I checked to see if this show was listed as "comedy-drama", but it is listed only as "drama". Their hi-jinks are sometimes hilarious, but the cases are always serious. Scorpion's help was requested by the LAPD at a murder scene because there was an algorithm the police could not decipher. Sylvester and Walter immediately became engaged and started writing on the whiteboard. The information led them to talk to dangerous people in the music industry. Happy connected with one of the musicians by showing him she had built a music machine. Paige sang while the musician played on the machine. Paige really can sing and was on American Idol in its 5th season. The funniest moment was seeing two gangsters dangle Toby over a rail but the team negotiated his release. Happy did a nice job of making the elevator give the criminals a bumpy ride that bounced them about five feet in the air and a hard landing. This time it was Walter who gambled and lost to someone who would bust his kneecaps. That played into the cliff-hanger ending. Walter helped Ralph to connect with his father through baseball. I guess the father will be around awhile. Cabe seems to be getting along better with Walter now.

It should be a comedy-drama.
Oh, this is last week's summary. So now I have to remember what happened this week.
I liked the decor in the house Cabe and his wife used to have. And the dishes.
I liked the chase. Especially the way they commandeered that one man's car.
It was nice to meet Cabe's ex and learn more about them. And he really does care about Walter, regardless of the way he often treats him. He was like a father to Walter.
Walter's not as socially inept as we would think. Maybe he's just improving.

1.09 Rogue Element - Cabe's ex-wife discovers evidence that suggests a prominent congressman's death involved foul play.
Last week, we saw Walter speed racing and this week we saw him use that skill to rescue Cabe’s wife. Toby mentioned that Walter has been on an adrenaline rush ever since he saw his former friend and has been taking risks. He disobeyed Cabe's orders and was almost apprehended by some dangerous people. Then he made a daring escape through a 5th floor window. Cabe was furious with him.
I enjoyed learning more about Cabe and his relationships with both his ex-wife and with Walter. He and Walter are now building toward that closeness again. I like that.
Ralph’s father told Walter he has been invited to a try-out for a team in another area and wanted to know what Walter thought of him taking Ralph with him. Then he swore Walter to secrecy. I wonder how he thinks Paige would react.

On another site I found out this was interrupted due to the grand jury's findings in the Ferguson case.
How does this happen that late in the evening?
I guess I'll have to go online again, though this show is a hit and should be around for reruns. But I'd better do it now.

They were 40 minutes into the show when it was interrupted. I had to go online and watch the entire episode just to get to the part that I missed. It is a really good episode so it is worth the effort.

I don't have to watch an entire episode to see the part I missed, which I plan to do next week at the right library.
They have the capability to locate the part you want to see and start there. You have to watch a bunch of commercials, but it works.

I enjoyed the episode very much even though Sylvester got hurt. It gave us another opportunity to see Walter’s sister. She and Sylvester get along very nicely and he felt it was safe to admit his fear to her.
Walter and the team did an excellent job of working under pressure and working while grieving. I liked the manly way Walter and Toby shrugged off the attempted apology as it showed a deep understanding between the two of them.
Although Walter is helping Ralph’s father, Walter shows a bit of jealousy, in my opinion.
Walter turned down a liaison with a beautiful woman so he could spend the night in Sylvester’s hospital room. I thought that was sweet, but I did not guess that was what he would be doing.
The criminals killed people for no apparent reason and I understand why the Interpol Agent wanted revenge.

Sylvester nearly died! They shouldn't have made it that bad.
Still, they showed they could do without him, but they just wouldn't want to.
I thought when Walter let that man fall that he was afraid he couldn't lift him, but I was sure he also hesitated because of what the man did.
I like Walter's sister and hope she keeps coming back.
Seeing Walter with a woman was strange. I can't picture him having relationships like that.

I forgot to mention I didn't realize that was Toby that Cabe was torturing. I thought it looked like him, but Toby was on Cabe's side. I realize now that it was fake and intended to get the other man to confess.
Wow, this one was quite an episode. That kid could never have been saved without the work of geniuses, or without taking risks. And I disagree that one in a million is not a miracle. That's the very definition of miracle.
Paige usually doesn't seem to serve much of a purpose but her contribution this week was very valuable.
Anyone notice Sylvester had a Rubik's Cube with 5x5x5?

"Dominoes" is my favorite episode so far. I liked it from the moment Walter helped the kid by making the kite take to the air. I notice Walter has a strong desire to help whether it is a small thing like the kite or thwarting a major crime.
Walter's brain analyzes problems and possible solutions at an amazing rate. I think that is one of the things that makes his team so effective. They can rush in and come up with a solution in 10 minutes but it would take others 10 days. Another thing is Walter is willing to take personal risks and to push his team members to do better. When he could not locate Sylvester, Walter instantly came up with Plan B. My hero! The machine that took the blood, oxygenated it and returned it to the body was awesome. I enjoyed seeing Walter attach the tubes and explain the process to the child. I was holding my breath while Walter was doing that and staring at the boy under water.
I also liked Happy demonstrating her genius in making a micro drill. Happy and Toby work well together and they amuse me. I would never ride on a motor bike with Happy though. I am glad she got her happy ending with her father, thanks to Dr. Toby pushing her.
Sylvester is very sensitive about his mistakes and I think he overreacts when Walter snaps at him. I am not criticizing him, but he needs to shake it off and get back to work instead of agonizing over each miscalculation. He made a better calculation than anyone else at the site would have done (except maybe Walter). I really smiled when Sylvester came into the cave to hold the rock up so they could move the machine. I hope that will give him more confidence. Walter's sister really likes Sylvester and it was sweet when he kissed her under the mistletoe.
Cabe is an excellent handler and respects them enough to support their risky decisions. There is one exception though; he never wants Walter to put his life in danger and it upsets him very much when he thinks Walter will be harmed.
I agree that Paige was very important in this episode. She did an excellent job of distracting the child and keeping him calm. Most of the time, I think Toby could do what Paige does, but it is good for them to be around someone who encourages them to have empathy for normal people.
The group gift for Ralph that started with the dominoes and ended with snow was fun to watch.
I watched the episode twice and I did not notice the Rubik's cube. Does 5x5x5 have significance?

I too liked seeing Sylvester finally do smething that required courage.
In the movie "Eragon" the statement was made, "There is no courage without fear."
And I like seeing him with Walter's sister.
5x5x5 is significant in that it is much harder than the ordinary 3x3x3.

That was a good one. Ralph really made a contribution. But I can certainly understand Paige not wanting him mistreated.
Going to that geeks convention was one of the best things about the episode. i know there's more I could say, but i'm having trouble remembering details.

I have really enjoyed the two episodes that featured children. Ralph was very good in this episode. After the agents were so mean to him, he was still willing to play the game to help Walter and Cabe find the villain. Ralph handled the accusations very well.
The guys and gals very abrupt and rude to each other, but it seems like they are used to it. When the game designer was talking to Walter and said the site was not a place for a kid, I was amused that Walter told him to keep the rest of his comments to himself. Walter was tired of everyone telling him that and he is a genius so he already realized that it was not one of his greatest ideas. However, in the end, Walter acknowledged that Ralph saved a lot of lives.

I watched The Golden Globes and Alan Turing seemed like he would fit here, though he also reminded me of Penguin.

And I almost had that same situation again. While I haven't had time to watch, I noticed while watching "Elementary" that this would be on after the AFC Championship. Even with the late start time, I suspected they STILL wouldn't finish in time. I was right.

The episode from last night was exciting. The team needed to identify a foreign agent who was obtaining information from a CIA employee. It became very exciting when Walter went undercover and was placed in a dangerous situation.
There is another episode on tonight - "The team works to stop the launching of weapons of mass destruction.".

This was another good episode. I like the mix of playfulness and seriousness. It amuses me that Toby continues to make Happy uncomfortable with his awkward observations. I think he does it deliberately although he does not look as if he is trying to make her uncomfortable. I also enjoy the chemistry between Walter and Paige. I do not have anything against Drew, but there is no reason to think there would be stability with him.
They did not have much time to solve the case and everyone played an important role. I am sure Cabe was thrilled to be able to think and move like a much younger version of himself. It was funny when he asked if the contraption was safe and the response was that it was triple A approved so he could get a free tow to the hospital. The memory-damaged agent was the JAG officer in the TV series, and it would have been nice if they could have incorporated that into the episode instead of him being CIA.

Two great episodes. Paige made a contribution in both of them.
Let me start by saying Paige thought she was a mess but I thought her hair looked great. And that red blouse and black short skirt. Not crazy about the boots. Although she ended up like Julie Bowen in "Modern Family". She's good-looking but her stepmother is Sofia Vergara. We saw close-ups of Paige (is that what she looks like on a big-screen? My TVs are all 13") and she didn't look all that good. And Fatima (or whatever her name really was) was on about that same time.
About Drew: I don't want Paige and Ralph to leave, and I don't think anyone else does. I assumed they were talking about Portland, Oregon. Portland, Maine is much farther away and the climate is much more extreme. But either way it would be too far for a good relationship.
Wait--the memory-damaged officer was Secret Service, wasn't he? I did hear he had a role in one of those "NCIS" shows, but of course he couldn't very well be memory-damaged there.
They were trying to turn him into Carrie Wells. That brought back memories. She would have been able to do that. It's just amazing such a memory could even be found.
But trying to get there on time and stopping that train--that was really exciting! Bringing back what made the pilot so great.
I too like the chemistry between Walter and Paige.

You are correct...he was Secret Service. He starred as a JAG officer in the series "JAG". "NCIS" cast was introduced during an episode of "JAG" but none of the characters crossed over to the NCIS series.
