No dull moments in this episode. There was excitement, drama and humor. I have to feel sorry for Bozer being interrogated by Thornton and I was glad Mac told her he would rather quit Phoenix than have Bozer treated like he did something wrong.
Mac created homemade fireworks.
Created a small satellite so Riley could get an aerial view of the extremists who were chasing them.
Used reams of typing paper to bullet-proof the windows.
Covered door panels with Kevlar vests so they could provide protective cover for the Marines who were protecting them.
Used melted sugar plus mystery ingredients and a stack of furniture to create an explosion that trapped the extremists inside the embassy. Then the Americans and the prisoner escaped by using ropes to climb out of a window.
I enjoyed all of the excitement, but I was especially happy for the way things turned out for Bozer.

1.03 AWL (10-7-16) In Malaysia, MacGyver and the team extract a terrorist group’s money man who has intel on an impending attack, but when the man is shot, Mac must keep him alive in order to learn the terrorists’ plans. The team was able to capture the jerk who keeps the books for criminals, but the man was shot when they exited his home. After being chased by the cartel, they realized they had to perform emergency surgery to keep him alive. The problem was they did not know how to perform surgery, they were in a dirty vehicle and the doctor Riley located did not speak English. MacGyver needs to find duct tape, paperclips and a translator.
Mac’s brilliant plan to fake the man’s death so D-77 would leave them alone was going smoothly until D-77 paid off the EMT’s and took the “body”. There were too many goons for the two of them to fight so Mac improvised using air masks and smoke bombs to give them leverage during the fight. That was fun, but the criminals were still able to fight.
Riley has been a big help during their missions and does a lot more than hack computers. I like her a lot more than I did in the pilot.
Wilt, Mac’s housemate, finally made his movie with Mac playing the role of a monster. It looked pretty good, but Riley told Wilt he was not using the program correctly. When she took over the computer, he quipped he likes a woman who takes charge.
This was an exciting episode which reminded me of "Scorpion" in the way everything had to be done so urgently, and yet MacGyver had to be instructed. Everything turned out okay. And there was just enough humor to keep me interested. My favorite thing about the episode was "White Lightning" by George Jones. Wilt was actually entertaining this week but he doesn't serve much of a purpose.

Wilt will play a more important role after the current episode, but you have a lot of episodes to watch before you see it.

Yes, and I was very concerned with all the exclamation points. And with the TiVo at 100 percent, you never want any of those unless you have a backup copy on another machine. Several episodes did get taped (I think) on other machines and I will watch them there. If I had time to watch them on those machines, it follows I would have had time to watch the ones on the main one.
Yes, I could also get off the computer. All my attempts to cut down on computer time are defeated as other activities have to be moved. Saving text from web sites or newspaper articles lets me read them at home.

This replaced "Elementary" last night. I figured it was a 10:30 episode until nothing was recording even then. So I checked the listings.
Not that I had time to watch. I had already committed to the Fox comedies. And I'm still trying to understand the meaning of episode names.

And I'm still trying to understand the meaning of episode names. Based on research, each title, except for the pilot, is named for a tool, but the tool in the title does not relate to what is happening in the episode. I think that is pure laziness.

1.10 Pliers
12-9-16
Mac and the team search for a kidnapped prodigy from Mac's former middle school; with only pliers and some wire, Mac attempts to rescue the young genius.
Let's look for Mac to use some pliers in a unique manner.

Something's not letting me reply in the usual way. First the quote function was broken, then it wouldn't let me reply unless I clicked on the button.
The episode with the train was exciting. Constant life-threatening situations that have to be dealt with quickly. Kind of like "Scorpion" but not as funny.
"Sorry, he can't come to the phone. He's busy being dead." Whatever the quote actually was, that was a good one.
I figured MacGyver and the girl would kiss when their faces were in that position.

I enjoyed seeing MacGyver be warm and gentle with the young girl and she trusted him. He did a nice demonstration for the science class while Wilt gave Riley a tour of the school. That was a nice lab Mac and Wilt used as a hideout. It was especially nice that Mac returned and cleaned it so that it would be ready for the girl to inherit. The team worked together to make a device to block the police radio signals. When a cop was chasing them, MacGyver did something to the car to make it go faster, but that looked difficult and he could have been accidentally ejected from the car. I could not see any pliers when he was working. I like the cell phone being rigged to cause foam to explode on the money. Mac's genius ideas did not always work out when he was young and I enjoyed learning about the mishaps. Mac, Jack, Wilt and Riley worked well together as a team, and Dir. Thornton is a firm but forgiving boss. I do hope Jack would not have to pay for the minivan though because it was not his fault that it was wrecked.

"Scissors" was an exciting episode. Riley left without telling anyone and Dir. Thornton told the team to find her before another agency did. She hacked the NSA because her mother’s life was at stake. I am sure the consequences would have been more severe than the episode showed, but it was fun to watch.
After they found Riley, they needed to track the computer she gave to the criminals. After they located the computer, they needed to hack the software to prevent it from sending Chinese missiles to strike America.
I did not remember Jack’s personal relationship with Riley, but it was very interesting. Boy, she really slapped him when they were at the Chinese headquarters. She got some frustration out of her system, but he took it like a man.
I liked the air raid siren and the artificial snow Mac built.

You have a lot of catching up to do. "Wrench" was also a good episode, but I do not find Mac to be as fascinating as I should. Jack is more exciting and humorous too. They tried to locate one of the best bomb makers in the world because there were rumors he had a job in the United States. The scary thing about tracking bomb makers is they set bomb traps for the people who are hunting them.
While in the military, Mac was trained to detect and defuse bombs. One of the soldiers he worked with requested Mac join him on the case.
My favorite part was when Jack was standing on the metal plate and Mac told him "Do not move!" Every time Jack shifted his foot, I reacted the same way their handler, Patricia, and Riley did. Then I would laugh. I do not want him to get blown up.
Wilt still thinks he has a chance with Riley. That makes me laugh, because I do not think so. There was an actual wrench in this episode. I liked Wilt in this episode but his presence doesn't make a lot of sense. The fact he thinks they work for a think tank, though, does mean something. No, I wouldn't want Jack to get blown up, and it worried me every time he moved his foot. I've lost at least one episode but CBS is really good with reruns. Some of them air on Saturday evenings.

This was my favorite episode so far and there was much excitement. The opening scene this time was not exciting (for me) but I am sure Mac enjoyed it very much. Mac constructed a black light so his lady friend could see some clues that would give her the solution to win the locked room game. Mac realized it was foolish to leave a locked room when he was with a desirable woman.
Bozer is a really good friend. He prepared a fabulous dinner for Mac so he could entertain his date in style, but Mac had to go to work.
While an assassin was running from Mac and Jack, Mac yanked the wires from a light fixture and used them to electrify the stairwell and caused the man to fall. When they looked at the paper the man dropped, they realized Mac was the target. Now the fun begins.
When the boss locked Mac in a room, he had no problem pulling the wall plate out and entering the code to unseal the door.
Mac erected bottle rockets using wine bottles and towels to knock the assassin through a window. Before that, he told Bozer to pour out one-third of the wine and it was funny when Bozer turned up the bottle and drank some of the wine. Bozer was shocked and very upset that Mac and the others are not members of a think tank.
There was more, of course, and it was a very good episode.
I did feel sorry for Bozer, but it only seems right that he knows. Although the gimmick of his not knowing was becoming more credible. When Mac was locked in, they said he had no vent, but he sure was able to get through the ceiling easily. And I wonder where the room got ventilation? That was a pretty girl in that first scene.

This was a strange episode for me because it seemed like it should have taken place before the episode I saw earlier in the week. Then I realized the newer episode had an exclamation point. I've lost the most recent episode but CBS is good about reruns. This is the start of Bozer finally becoming a real part of the show. I was glad Mac took his side, but he was justified in keeping his secrets. The embassy personnel didn't sign on for this. I almost though they'd have to release the prisoner. I was surprised how long it took for the villains to get through. But before it was apparently going to be all over, the civilians made it clear they cared about families. I liked how the woman in charge hid the truth from her daughter.

I want to give the episode kudos for the opening scene. In most shows I watch where Sodium Pentothal is given, the spy, agent, etc. has been trained to defeat its purpose. Jack spilled the beans on everything. The team members were in an uncomfortable position of uncertainty about who to believe and who to trust. They followed Mac's lead and the path led to some unexpected results. Riley and Bozer decided on their own to follow the money trail and helped to identify the mole.

1.13 Large Blade 1-13-17
On the way back from capturing a war criminal, Mac and Jack's helicopter crashes in a remote area of Kazakhstan, injuring their pilot and allowing their prisoner to escape with Jack's gun. Using a large blade and a water bottle, MacGyver must get help as the pilot's condition worsens and before the war criminal takes them as prisoners.

Large Blade
Victor certainly gave Mac and Jack a rough time when they tried to get him to the helicopter. It was sort of amusing because of the banter between Mac and Jack. The helicopter crash reminded me of the helicopter crash on Scorpion. Fortunately, MacGyver did not have to deal with a forest fire. The pilot made some excellent maneuvers to avoid the missiles and Mac ‘s quick thinking helped them to avoid a direct hit.
As I watched, it seemed the scenes when they were trying to catch up to Victor needed better direction. The pilot was hobbling with one crutch; then Jack assisted her; later, she hobbled without help for a while until Mac assisted her; then she hobbled again without their help. The trek seemed strange. Also, she seemed to overdo the shivering when she had a fever and then she made a remarkable recovery.
They have a new boss.
