Pitch is the dramatic and inspirational story of a young pitcher who becomes the first woman to play Major League Baseball. A beautiful, tough and gifted athlete, Ginny Baker (Kylie Bunbury of Under the Dome fame) is vaulted into instant fame when she’s called up by the San Diego Padres to make her Major League debut. Also starring in the series is fan favorite Mark-Paul Gosselaar and Heroes alum Ali Larter. Catch Pitch on Thursday nights at 9/8c on Fox! 1) Tim Jo as Eliot 2) Meagan Holder as Evelyn Sanders 3) Mo McRae as Blip Sanders 4) Ginny 5) Mike Lawson 6) Mark Consuelos as Oscar Arguella 7) Ali Larter as Amelia Slater 8) Dan Lauria as Al Luongo

In the pilot, we were introduced to Ginny on her first day as a pitcher in the major league. Flashbacks gave clues to what her childhood was like and how her father worked diligently to make her an outstanding ballplayer. We learned more about her life in the second episode, including how she met her manager.
Episode 3: The Padres are hyped up to play the Cardinals, whose pitcher broke Tommy's finger in an altercation, but Ginny is rattled when she spots her ex-boyfriend, Trevor, on the team. Meanwhile, Al calls on an old friend to help save his job.
Ginny does not date ball players because it would create problems with team members, especially in the locker room. This week on Pitch, we learned Ginny had violated her personal philosophy of never dating a ball player. While she was in the minor league, she met a charismatic young man who was also in the minors. He told her he was not making a career of baseball and would be leaving the sport in a year. He convinced her it would not be a problem if they dated. Well, Trevor was offered a major league contract and he accepted it. Ginny felt betrayed and refused to respond to his calls or texts.
Ginny has had a rough time from team members who are jealous that she gets all of the attention from fans and the media. None of the team members want her on the team, and she has been trying very hard to fit in. They played a game against a team whose pitcher broke Tommy's finger. Under normal circumstances, a Padres pitcher would throw some scary close pitches or even hit one of the offending team’s players in retaliation. Ginny wanted to do what would be expected of any other pitcher, but the guys were dead set against it because that would invite the Cardinals pitcher to hit her when she came to bat. She hit one of their players anyway.
So what does that have to do with Trevor? Trevor was the catcher on the other team and called for the pitcher to walk Ginny instead of retaliating. Ginny is saucy, confident and determined to take charge of her life, and I thoroughly enjoyed the way she handled that frustrating situation.
There are interesting situations involving other team members, the team manager, Ginny’s family and her agent. This is a show that is worth watching.

I can't read any of that.
Hopefully the pilot will be repeated.
I saw the second episode where the Dad from "Wonder Years" is about to be fired. I'm not sure whether I have seen Zack from "Saved by the Bell". I thought I saw him but he sure didn't have many lines. Surely he can't be the washed-up catcher.
I liked the Jimmy Kimmel appearance yet but that bossy girl who is the agent I don't care for. I was glad to see Joanna Garcia, who was on "Reba" and the series about the first men in space and their wives. But she's apparently not a big part of the show.
The announcers sound very professional.
I don't like it a lot, but I like it enough to keep watching.

"The Break"
The players who were not invited to play in the All-Star game were free to relax and spend time with their families. Ginny planned to spend three days with her mother. The commission received so many million requests to put Ginny in the game that they felt obligated to do so. Her mother was upset and the weekend did not go well for them.
Ginny pitched in the game against a power hitter who hit a home run. The media played it up as an embarrassment for Ginny, but Mike’s teasing her about it helped her to get over the disappointment.

This is a very confusing show. I thought Ginny and that other baseball player were going out in the present. When they do flashbacks, I can't tell they are flashbacks. I guess if Ginny looks slightly different I should notice that.
Now that I know for sure Mike is Zack from "Saved by the Bell", he does look like him. He didn't before.
Maxine was the captain on "Rush Hour". I'm so glad she came to Al's rescue. I really like him and want him to stay.
That was sad about the family who got left behind at Disney World. The kids were so happy when their dad didn't get to be in the game, but was his wife upset.
The announcers and talk show hosts are so professional. Everything is so realistic when they show what's on TV.
I liked seeing Amelia without pants when she commented about Mike putting his pants on. On a related note, I have trouble putting my pants on too. I also liked how they had to pretend with Ginny's mom. That was Eddie from "Family Matters". I had seen his name in the list of guest stars. I should have realized he wasn't being set up with Ginny. That would have only been possible in his days as Urkel's "big brother". Yes, he's old enough to date Ginny's mom. I've forgotten why the mom didn't show up at the game. It was sad to watch young Ginny, but if she had chosen to go to the dance she might not be here right now. It takes that kind of dedication to be a star. That's true of Olympic athletes. Now men might not have to go through that kind of sacrifice to be a pro baseball player, but this was a rare event.

The mom did not show up at the game because she took her friend to the airport. He felt very uncomfortable because of the way Ginny reacted to him. I think family members should be honest with each other. If Ginny had told her mother, in a calm manner, that she saw her and the man together before her father died, the lingering confusion and misunderstanding could be resolved.

This week was about the anxiety players have during the time the teams discuss trading players to improve their rosters. The flashbacks show Ginny forming a friendship with a team member whose father did not support his love of the sport the way Ginny's father did. There was an interesting contrast between the two fathers.
The flashback also showed what led to the death of Bill Baker. That was sad.
Ginny was not in danger of being traded, but she was obsessing over the possibility of Blip being traded. Sometimes, Amelia gives Ginny advice that could harm her career in the future. Just because it works in the motion picture industry does not mean it works for baseball. If Oscar was the type of person to hold grudges, he would really resent Ginny putting more pressure on him. But I like the way he handled Ginny’s demand and his explanation of the owners’ rights.
Charlie Graham, the Interim Padres President, put unreasonable demands on Oscar. His comments about Oscar's past sounded insulting and threatening rather than describing him as a success story. I am sure Charlie wanted Oscar to feel threatened.
They are making a big deal of Ginny being upset that Amelia and Mike are in a relationship. I am at a loss to understand why she would be upset, but her expression showed she really does not like it.
Eta: Corinne Massiah, young Ginny, is also playing young Amanda Waller on "Secrets and Lies" at the same time. She has been a busy young lady.

I can see why young Ginny would be your favorite character. I did not think of her when I made my selections.

Pitch was too dramatic for my taste, but it could have been worse. When her ex chatted with Ginny during a previous episode, he told her someone had hacked his phone and had pictures of her. I thought that was what this episode was going to be about.
In spite of her breakdown, the team management is supporting her and handled her behavior better than I expected.
I want the series to be more humorous, but the next episode will probably be even more dramatic.
Sometimes the names in the description are confusing. Eliot is Amelia's assistant and she is inconsiderate of him and does not give him credit for the part he plays. I am not sure if "Mia" is Lawson's wife or if they are calling Amelia "Mia".

I was dreading this episode, but I really enjoyed it. We saw Mike Lawson’s backstory, and it was rather sad. He is lonely now, misses his wife, and his career might be in jeopardy because of his age and his bum knee. In spite of that, he was clever in the way he handled the rookie who acts like he does not have to follow the rules. I loved the scene when Mike volunteered to translate Livan’s comments for the reporters. It was very funny and the team mates liked it too.
After seeing Oscar for a while, I like him a lot. He is strong and does not let people take advantage of him. He told Livan what he needs to do if he ever wants to replace Mike as catcher.
Amelia and Ginny had to do damage control when they learned the nude pictures of her were on the part of the web that does not follow the law. It was very nice that her team supported her.

I haven't seen any more.
I nearly lost the pilot. I keep seeing exclamation points. Using folders does take up less room but then I can't see which individual episodes are about to get deleted. So far I haven't reached 100 percent or I would have lost episodes with exclamation points.

I finally saw the pilot. I'm glad I didn't see it when it was first on. For one thing, I had a chance to feel better about some characters and situations I didn't like. I knew who Zack from "Saved by the Bell" was by this time, and that made him so much more meaningful. Amelia is pretty but so demanding. I saw a softer side of her before I saw the pilot. Al, on the other hand, made me like him in this episode. The biggest reason I'm glad I didn't watch is that I was confused by seeing Ginny's father since I remembered he was dead. So I knew there would be a tragedy at the end of the episode. What I really wasn't expecting was that it happened years ago. So he wasn't even there?
But I was glad to see how he trained Ginny and had such expectations of her. It was funny that he tried to get her brother interested and he didn't care, and she turned out to be good even at that age. It's hard to watch a father be so demanding, but it worked. It worked for the Jackson brothers.
The first thing we saw, even before her face, was Ginny's legs.
It was pretty amazing to see all the realistic commentary. Even the Carolina Panthers theme song whenever Fox or a Fox-related station aired a game. It was really Fox when it was the All-Star Game. I didn't really think about certain details. They were calling her up for the publicity, not because she was that good. And we had the outside chance she would turn out not to be that good. What an embarrassing first game. And all the questioning and second-guessing.

I think Ross was John Stamos' son on "Grandfathered". He really impressed Oscar.

My favorite part of the episode was the kangaroo court, even though Ginny was a poor sport about it.
My least favorite part was Will, Ginny’s brother, being a deadbeat and using Ginny’s fame for his own purpose.
I liked the way the Groundskeeper, Russell, handled Charlie’s demand to get the field ready in 28 minutes. I also liked the way Oscar kept Charlie from going to the umpire’s office. Charlie would have gotten in trouble for colluding with the umpires.
The preview clip at the end of this episode with Ginny and Mike was shown early on, around the second episode, and I wondered if that was a mistake because we heard nothing else about it.

This was my favorite episode of the season because it was exciting to see Ginny play an amazing game. Sportsmen superstitions are legendary and I enjoyed seeing some of it while Ginny was pitching her way to a no-hitter. No one would sit close to her or talk to her. No one would say "no hitter". Her reaction was a cute “Are we really going to do this?”
When the statistician convinced the Padres leaders that Ginny had reached her safe pitching limit, they tried to take her out of the game after the 7th inning. She refused by telling the coach she was going to the mound and he would have to physically remove her. Well, he did not want to take her out of the game anyway, and he ignored the boss.
Amelia talked to Ginny’s brother, Will, about taking money that was supposed to be invested in the restaurant. He tried to convince Ginny that Amelia did not like him, but Ginny realized the truth. She told her brother she would not let him use her name and that he should go home. He left, but he was ungracious about it. Ginny confronted Amelia and they parted on very bad terms.
Blip and Evelyn had a heated disagreement because she still wants to run a restaurant and he wants her “barefoot and pregnant”. She told him the next time she mentions running a business, she expects him to be supportive the same way she has always been supportive of him.
The billionaire likes Ginny a lot and wants to take her away from it all for a vacation. She did not commit to that but she does like him.
The season ended with a cliff-hanger, but showrunner Kevin Falls said the show has not been cancelled. They are considering a lot of possibilities for an upcoming season, including a different network. He said “There are people who don’t follow baseball who watched the show who now follow baseball.”
