At some point they're going to have to say it is 1990. If they had a Christmas/New Year episode, that would have been the perfect time to transition to 1990. But they skipped over the season festivities.

I didn't think Sheldon was overdoing it at first, but once he made the garage a safe place, that was going overboard.
It was funny to see Shelton sent to detention, and his reaction to what happened there was understandable. Suspension may have been too strong a reaction.
I liked how Georgie took advantage of the situation.

It was funny to see Shelton sent to detention, and his reaction to what happened there was understandable. Suspension may have been too strong a reaction. I liked how Georgie took advantage of the situation. I react similar to Sheldon when someone sneezes around me because most people spread their germs. I thought it was so cute when Sheldon was not shy about bribing the big boy with his dollars. I did laugh when he said to feel free to share it because I knew that would not happen. I thought both the detention and the suspension were too harsh, but they must not have taken germs as seriously as we now do. I learned very recently that the current flu can be transmitted by breathing the same air as someone who is affected. Sheldon is so cute, I could not be upset with him for not obeying his mother to come out of the garage. When Meemaw's cookies failed to keep Sheldon out of the garage, I thought she would yank him out. But she cleverly appealed to his sense of Texan pride. I wished Mary had triumphed instead of Meemaw. Georgie looked very handsome and happy when he tricked the girls into hugging him.

Last night's show was the first time that I wanted to smack Sheldon's dad. Normally I don't mind him, but it really frosted me to hear him say, "The boy needs to learn that he isn't special." I get what he was trying to say, but putting it out there like that in my opinion was way over the line. Anyone who tells their kid such thing, to me, is in serious need of a good kicking where it hurts!
God bless you always!!!

I love the intro for Sheldon and always watch it to see what he will do each week. This week, he stepped away from the tumbleweed and I did not see the cow. He is too cute for words.
Eta: I listened to the entire original version of the song on YouTube and I do not know the history behind the song. I learned it was also a theme for "Blues Clues".

The episode where Sheldon goes to Dallas to be at a new school was shown again last night and to me, his teachers from his regular school should've been fired for drinking in the teacher's lounge, that one teacher especially for sending Sheldon on wild goose changes whenever she doesn't want to deal with him.
God bless you always!!!

God bless you always!!! Holly You'd probably better stay away from "A.P. Bio" then. There are other prodigies on network TV. Evan on "Fresh Off the Boat" has skipped a grade. I suspect Ian on "9JKL" is also a genius.

I just read that Iain Armitage of Young Sheldon will be a part of Big Little Lies second season. I pray this doesn't mean that Iain is walking away from being Young Sheldon's leading character. To me, the show wouldn't be the same without him.
God bless you and him always!!!

There are other prodigies on network TV. Evan on "Fresh Off the Boat" has skipped a grade. I suspect Ian on "9JKL" is also a genius. And of course Ralph on "Scorpion". Sheldon was immature for a change last night. He was mostly mature but then he got that splinter. I was really surprised at how mature Missy suddenly became. It was a bad idea for her to use a needle. But she came through. I was surprised Mary's church had such a big staff. The woman who was smoking seemed to be the secretary. But I guess she had another job. I don't understand why the church would need a full-time secretary, if that's the case. The pastor wasn't as perfect as we thought.

God bless you always!!!

Sheldon is so innocent and good while Missy enjoys being naughty. I enjoyed them spraying Meemaw with the extinguisher and Missy could not wait to tell her mother about it.
George really does want Mary to be happy which is why he agreed the twins could stay home without supervision. Georgie made me laugh when he kept expressing his opinion that it was a bad idea. The job at the church sounded like it could take more than three hours a day, especially if Mary has to listen to the pastor’s problems.
The lady who was smoking reminded me of the past when people did smoke in offices. As soon as she stopped coughing, she put the cigarette between her lips. That seemed weird.

See the Big Bang Theory thread.
Last week, someone said, "You've got this" or "We've got this." Did anyone say that in 1989? And yes, adult Sheldon said 1989.

Dolomite, Apple Slices, and a Mystery Woman Mary was the especially endearing in this episode. When George asked her what she thought would happen when they sent Sheldon to high school, she said she thought he would learn stuff, then come home and be her baby forever. George then wanted to know what she expected would happen when Sheldon went to college. Mary’s vision was she and Sheldon would share a room. Mary loves her baby and wants to protect him. I agree with her that Sheldon is not emotionally mature, and she did a good job of explaining that to him. Libby’s friendship with Sheldon and Tam was based on them having a common interest in science. I never got the impression Sheldon was interested in her as a love interest like Tam did. He was hurt because he interpreted her comment as viewing him as a child rather than a peer. I viewed her comment as an attempt to put Mary’s mind at ease so that Sheldon could travel with her. She is a very nice and patient young lady. Tam was ridiculously obvious in revealing his interest in Libby, and I laughed when she said she would rip his arm off. I did not react negatively to George's comment about Libby being black. Americans are prone to seeing race as a factor in relationships. George did not say anything else about it, but George, Jr. showed more depth than I expected when he suggested his father read up on Dr. Martin Luther King.

I'm sorry Monday's is a rerun. I thought we were going to lose the show for several weeks to basketball, but they figured out a way to keep us from missing it.
Sheldon isn't mature and we have seen that in this episode. I'm surprised Mary is so protective of him but I guess she has to be. The others will get along just fine without that.
I thought Sheldon had a crush on Libby but it was obvious Tam liked her too and would have a better chance of success.
I wasn't surprised about George being surprised Libby was black. Prime-time TV seems to have made interracial relationships not only normal, but almost more common than relationships between people of the same ethnicity. But in 1989, it wasn't all that common. I was surprised at George Jr.'s comment.
The end of "Big Bang" was on during the time this episode was supposed to air (see the Big Bang Theory and Sports threads). I didn't miss anything because the correct time was during a commercial break. I did, however, miss the end of "Sheldon" because I don't record "Mom". I also lost the end of :Life in Pieces" because I don't record "S.W.A.T."

He also decided that geology is not a science, and his childhood disappointment is likely the basis for his snide remarks about scientists who study geology.

They mostly tolerate him. I suspected, once Sheldon found out the girl wasn't interested in him romantically, that we would find out that was the reason he lost interest in geology, He really seemed to enjoy it. On a related note, Dee Snider was one of Trump's contestants.

I saw the Halloween and Christmas episodes of "Fresh Off the Boat". Evan's father wanted him to help hand out candy. Evan wanted to go to an adult party and have adult conversations. He was even bartender but alcohol was not involved. One of the party guests wasn't happy about that. In the Christmas episode Evan was in charge of the Homeowners Association meeting. I can't really picture Sheldon doing any of these things, but I'm used to Evan being comfortable around adults more than I am used to Sheldon being that way.
