The usual suspects are pitted against each other to get the upper hand when it comes to crime in Gotham. The cops sit back, relax, but keep a wary eye on James Gordon. The embalming knife – Selena was unable to steal it because Penguin’s men arrived at the truck and started spraying bullets at Bruce. Barbara was very angry at Selena’s failure. Barbara tried to buy the knife from Penguin, but he rejected her offer. Bruce learned the value of the knife and went with Alfred to the auction and bought it for $2 million. Barbara wanted to outbid him, but Penguin spitefully rapped the gavel, closing the bid. I enjoyed Bruce acting like a spoiled rich kid but he was overdoing it, which Alfred pointed out. So…what makes Jim Gordon a chick magnet? Perhaps it is the sense of danger that surrounds him. Capone’s daughter, Sofia, does not seem to blame Jim for her brother’s death, but more will be revealed. Weird lady, Myrtle Jenkins, defrosted Nygma and nursed him. His brain was not fully recovered and his responses to the riddles were too funny. Myrtle: I am black and white and red all over. What am I? Nygma: A zebra with a gaping hole. Myrtle: I have a face and two hands, but no arms or legs. What am I? Nygma: A deformed baby. Myrtle unwisely confessed to Penguin and he turned her over to Szasz. R.I.P. Myrtle Ra’s Al Ghul will be coming for the knife. I ran out of TV episodes to watch, except for "Anger Management" (no reason I couldn't watch), "Kevin Can Wait", "Riverdale" (still waiting on episode 10 before I watch more) and this show, and finales of numerous episodes which, if I watch them, will be the last episode of each series I ever watch so I want to put that off as long as possible. This episode was not nearly as bad as other recent ones. Miami? If Jim was riding in a '55 Plymouth, wouldn't that mean he was in Cuba? Also, why was it as dark and dismal in that paradise as it is in Gotham? I liked seeing Bruce act spoiled too and I was glad he got the knife instead of Barbara (and now we know how she survived). However, he didn't quite master being a street kid, according to Alfred. Now Alfred is convincing as someone who knows the streets. Myrtle was cute and funny. Nygma was able to make his mouth work, so I don't know why he was having such a hard time with his arms and legs, but of course supporting his weight is a lot harder when it hasn't been done in a while. I did wonder why his brain worked so well, but apparently it didn't. I didn't know the answers to the riddles either. When I was in school the first answer I heard to one was "a skunk with diaper rash". Are they pronouncing "Ra's Al Ghul" correctly? |

Pieces of a Broken Mirror
There were some interesting twists in this episode.
The Toy Maker tried to assassinate Doc by using a bomb attached to a toy drone. When James went to the Narrows to investigate, he kept asking people who the Doc was. He was surprised to find out it was his lost love and that she had been back in Gotham for a while.
Nygma was shocked when the Toy Maker met him in an alley and told him Riddler had ordered the hit on Doc because she was holding him back. Nygma is struggling to keep the Riddler part of him contained.
Jim has been calling Harvey and searching for him because he misses him. Harvey is resentful and does not want to return to the force. Alfred met a lady and wound up in trouble that was caused by her ex-boyfriend. Harvey helped Alfred out of the jam and I guess they will be closer friends now.
Bruce is still out of control and Selina does not approve. She threw him and his friends out of her club.
Ivy injected Selina with her ivy blood, but gave her the antidote. I think Ivy is crazy.

A Dark Knight: A Beautiful Darkness
This was a thrilling episode.
Ivy is a serial killer. She kills anyone who gets in her way plus she has a vendetta against Wayne Industries. She thinks they are making pesticides to kill plants, but Project M actually makes plants grow exponentially. Her perfume makes people worship her and when she cuts people with her fingernail, they become infected with growing plants that feed on their organs.
Ivy infected Bruce and he had hallucinations about people who are important in his life. I liked seeing Alfred as a secret agent who swooped in and grabbed Bruce. Bruce also hallucinated Batman on a fire escape where his parents died. Then he saw Batman in a cave filled with bats. Ivy gave Jim Gordon the antidote and he cured Bruce with it.
Penguin is in an insane asylum and the joker dude insisted Penguin get over his blues and join him in something “spectacular”. Penguin is not interested in joining Jerome and it seems Ed Nygma will help Penguin escape.

A Dark Knight: Reunion
I think Gotham is becoming too dark for me. I had faith that Jim & Harvey and Bruce & Alfred would work things out and I looked forward to that. Those scenes were great.
On the dark side, both Sofia and Ivy are downright cruel. Sofia took a hammer and smashed Doc’s hand until it shattered.
Selina tried to help Ivy, but she could not stand by and let Ivy hurt more people. Selina destroyed the rest of the Project M, but she did not kill Ivy. Selina rejected Bruce when he came to her for help.

Non-stop excitement starting with the escape of around 80 of the most dangerous inmates from Arkham. The GCPD id an outstanding job of rounding up most of the prisoners.
Harvey and Gordon teamed up and hunted for the most ruthless prisoner, Ketch. Ketch used his ability to hypnotize to cause the deaths of innocent people. His plan was to cause hundreds of people to climb to rooftops and fall to their deaths at midnight. That frustrated Gordon because he could not think of a way to prevent the people from falling. Harvey had faith in Gordon and put his own life in jeopardy to get necessary information.
Bruce tried to capture Jerome (the young joker) because he felt responsible for him. Bruce wound up in trouble and Selina helped him.
The story is not over yet, because the villains are very clever, and already had Plan B in place.
Barbara has become the Demon's Head. I guess she was Ra's Al Ghul's Plan B in case Bruce did not work out.

I double-checked after I lost episodes of some other shows. I've lost several episodes of this show. I do know they have some reruns so I'm hoping the ones I missed will be shown, but it's not really a big deal.

There are a lot of complicated story lines this season. It will be difficult to follow if there is a lot of time between episodes that you watch.

Lost another episode. I forget that "Dynasty" is not on at 9. I don't have time to make room for three episodes at once. Why can't "Jane the Virgin" be the one at 8? In fact, why is that show even still on at all?

However, I remembered that I had part of one on one machine and the rest on the other. I made sure to rescue that one on the newer machine. That was the next one, so it's a good thing I did.

I've lost track of how many episodes I've lost. But I have to sacrifice at least one show. Others have reruns I am guaranteed to see. This one is just unpleasant to watch but I can always hope.

Lost another one. I was trying to finish "MacGyver" before 9 and it just kept going. I finally realized I wasn't watching live so I should have tried harder not to go back and see what I missed.

I didn't realize I had seen the movie until I started watching. Although the movie I watched Sunday might have also caused me to lose the episode. The good news is I think it is available online through Thursday. I don't like to watch anything online but I'll go ahead, just in case it is any good.
