A Dark Knight: One Bad Day
SEASON 4, EPISODE 21 • NEW 5/10/18, 8:00 PM ON WBFFDT 45 • TV-14 • STEREO • CC • DVS
As Gotham falls into complete anarchy, a team of unlikely heroes steps up to save it; Bullock takes the lead at the GCPD; Bruce's psychological limits are tested as those close to him are put in danger. I am happy Bullock did something courageous and heroic. The officers at the GCPD gave him a standing ovation. I am glad Jerome's brother, Jeremiah, is giving us a breather from the hideous clown face. Unfortunately, he is also insane and is as deadly as Jerome.

A Dark Knight: No Man's Land
SEASON 4, EPISODE 22 • FINALE 5/17/18, 8:00 PM ON WBFFDT 45 • TV-14 • STEREO • CC • DVS
Jeremiah warns Gordon of more destruction coming Gotham's way; Gordon is forced to make a potentially devastating decision; Barbara rallies together a team to secure her position; Bruce is forced to come to terms with the future. A volatile chain of events led to Bruce Wayne becoming the dark knight of Gotham City. James Gordon was involved in his life throughout the ordeal. The finale was dark, violent, and bloody. Some of our favorites died but, in Gotham, death is not always final.

While Arkham's finest give Gordon and Bullock a run for their money as they hatch a plan to escape the asylum, Bruce devises his own strategy to thwart their plans; Barbara gets an offer she can't refuse. I have decided to watch this episode Saturday night. I saw the start on the newest TiVo and the rest of it is on the oldest.

I like Bruce and he is maturing quite nicely. He is as tall as Jim Gordon, but still looks young. He has spent his life courting danger and danger has found him. I learned so much about Ra's Al Ghul in the Arrow-verse that he is not a mystery to me. He was training Bruce to be his successor, but it is strange for him to take someone so young. It was not his plan to let Bruce live at home with a normal life. It is unfortunate that the antique store owner was killed and it was not even necessary. If Ra's is the main villain this season, Harvey and Jim will need reinforcements. Their cops drop like flies when there is trouble. Anubis was awful. I do not know if he is one of Ra's pets or one of the weird people from Arkham Asylum. He was trying to bite people. Jim could not handle that big guy in a fight, but the book stacks took him out of play. Jim was irritated at Bruce's omission of important information. For some reason, I am amused when Jim gets irritated, especially at Bruce. I was thoroughly entertained by the irritating delivery method Nygma used to present his riddle to Cobblepot. Szasz was getting in the groove, but Penguin was not amused. I do not remember what the riddle was, but the scene was funny. When Ms. Falcone was with Penguin, and Penguin gave her a veiled threat, I laughed out loud when Szasz explained to her - with gestures - that he would stab her. I missed Harvey this week. The funniest line in the episode: Jim told a woman on the phone to investigate Ra's Al Ghul and the woman asked how to spell that. I have this memory of the character looking more like a pro wrestler than a professor. Penguin doesn't like rap and I don't blame him. Going by how old the cars are, rap is a new thing. But Jim has that futuristic cell phone. That one goon was in the Lord of the Rings movies. Just kidding. But he did talk and move like that character. Alfred didn't care for the way he was being treated. The antiques expert was the headmaster on "Gilmore Girls". I didn't like what happened to him. The grandson looked just like Jake on "Two and a Half Men". Harvey may not have been there, but they called him "Bullock" and I saw Sandra twice the same day I saw this episode. For years I assumed I had seen "Forces of Nature", a rom-com with Ben Affleck. But this time I decided to make sure. Very enjoyable. Then I saw her on Kimmel.

A Dark Knight: Mandatory Brunch Meeting
SEASON 4, EPISODE 17 • NEW 4/5/18, 8:00 PM ON WBFFDT 45 • TV-14 • STEREO • CC • DVS
Gordon and Bullock try to stay one step ahead as Jerome zeros in on his next target; Nygma hosts a riddle game show in the Narrows and faces his toughest challenger in Lee Thompkins; Penguin goes to see Butch with a proposal. I posted this in the wrong place when I saw the episode. I lost another episode, but the last five of the season are available online. I'll try to find others eventually, but there's not much incentive. As much as I enjoyed watching Jerome act the way he does, he's so cruel and violent. His twin brother (I don't think they look alike) was a recluse who Jim and Harvey found. Jerome looks and talks just like Kripke on "Big Bang Theory". If Kripke hadn't had his other series ... Bruce was told don't do this, or else. Alfred sort of agreed to keep an eye on him. Penguin doesn't seem to be in control any more. Ed is sort of enjoyable to watch, but the terrible things he does! Jim's real-life wife is a doctor and I don't have time to figure out her name, but I like how she handled Ed.

I think Bruce has gone over to the dark side. Essentially, he has become Ra’s Al Ghul, but I do not think he understands what that really means. He is too focused on the act of killing Ra’s and is too angry to analyze his future. Selina, Tabitha and Barbara are three beautiful and formidable women when they work together. Awesome! I think this episode finalized the breakup of Gordon and Bullock’s friendship. Thanks to Solomon Grundy, I was interested enough to stay around for three episodes. I think it's terrible that anything happened to end the friendship between Jim and Harvey. For all his faults, Harvey was at least not corrupt. Alfred is being warned to stop Bruce, but I don't think he can. Edit: the following was posted about the wrong episode. Things got very unpleasant once again. That sick man got dragged out in the street. Am I remembering the right episode? On the other hand, that one guy who was in Penguin's army was funny. I did not like this Bruce. It was nice to see him have friends and Grace was hot as well as nice. But this isn't what I want Bruce to be. That one guy was a jerk and I guess he got what he deserved. I seem to recall another show where someone does something violent and we see it didn't really happen. Oh, yeah, it was Riggs on "Lethal Weapon". And maybe there was another show.

Stop Hitting YourselfThe people in the Narrows remind me of the Roman coliseums where the audience cheered while people were being torn to pieces. The episode was violent and brutal because it showed fights at Cherry’s Place and they fight to the death. Once again, the ladies showed their strength and made some decisions Penguin will not like. Nygma might not be smart at the moment, but he knows how to antagonize Penguin. He would go in the fight ring and portray Penguin as a whiny dictator. Dr. Thompkins shot Firefly. Tabby fought Butch in the ring because she wanted him to remember her. She will return for him. Dr. Thompkins will now lead the fighters at the club because the boss lady, Cherry, was also shot and killed. Penguin’s developing relationship with mute Martin is intriguing. Martin is clever and resentful like Penguin. Penguin does not trust Ms. Falcone. Ms. Falcone is taking credit for the position of Captain being offered to Gordon. Gordon cannot be bought, but he has probably lost Harvey as a friend. I couldn't believe Thompkins was working there. On the other hand, she looked hot. Solomon Grundy is funny and I was able to stay around because he made me want to see more. I soon regretted that. Nygma may be using Grundy, but he needs something to improve his status.

4.09 A Dark Knight: Let Them Eat Pie
11-16-17
Professor Pyg continues to torment Gotham City; Sofia and Penguin plan a fundraiser for the orphanage; Bruce's partying gets in the way of his relationship with Alfred. The last episode I saw, and the last one I had on my TiVo except for the last two, was this one. I meant to say Jim didn't know how Pyg spelled his name, but the newspaper did. Surely he would have seen that. It was quite disturbing what happened when Pyg was at the fundraiser. And Falcone's daughter has never been so vulnerable. That was hard to see. She thinks she'll be fine. I definitely did not like seeing Bruce show such disrespect for Alfred. I did like hearing how Alfred was hired. I'm thinking this Alfred is more of a street tough than any of the others, though I'm not that familiar with the other versions.

I can't see Dr. Thompkins being in charge of that place but I guess it will have to happen. Penguin's relationship with Martin is disturbing. I didn't see that the friendship between Jim and Harvey was over, and while it still didn't seem true at the beginning of this one, Harvey's refusal to take responsibility makes it appear things really are over and I'm not happy.

I need to remember to start watching the episodes that are available for free.
I don't know what my options are yet for the others. Next week I'm going to take advantage of the free month of Hulu I have been offered, assuming the offer is still good. "Nashville" has eight episodes left and the series finale should be during that free month. If "Gotham" is available that way too, I'll be busy at the downtown library.
Complicating matters is the fact I haven't seen my driver's license since I put it in my pocket to go home. Yes, my wallet would be better. I usually put it in my shirt pocket. I actually put it in my pants pocket for the drive home.

When I arrived at the DMV office there were lots of people already there. I heard someone say it opened at 8. I was expecting it to open at 9 but that's the license plate office which is separate. I heard one of the examiners tell someone on the phone it would be an hour and a half wait, and no, no appointments until August. It was more like two hours. And there went any time I would have had to watch even one episode of "Gotham".
Even in the afternoon, I had a lot of stuff to do relating to finding newspaper articles and copying them to print out. Printing from the newspaper web site costs way more than taking out everything but the text and shrinking the font. And putting it all in order by date and taking out space between articles. All this is made more complicated by various techniques to make me need to spend money on subscriptions, which I can avoid by going to different libraries. Plus I was trying to solve a problem with my email relating to the address I would have had to pay for.

Okay, this week it's time to start my free month of Hulu. I will be very lucky if I'm still eligible. The email is still there and I just have to click and enter my credit card number. And remember to cancel when "Nashville" has aired its finale. What I'm hoping is that the episodes of "Gotham" I missed will be available too.

A Dark Knight: That's Entertainment
SEASON 4, EPISODE 18 • NEW 8:00 PM ON WBFFDT 45 • TV-14 • STEREO • CC • DVS
Gordon develops a plan to catch the Arkham inmates that are still running freely in Gotham; he reluctantly turns to Bruce for help; Barbara finds out just how far her new friends are willing to go for her. This was the first episode available for free. it was about as unpleasant an experience as I've ever had watching this show, except for two things. Alfred and Bruce were getting along again (and Selina seemed to think Bruce's behavior was just an act). And Harvey and Jim were getting along. I just couldn't stand the cruel way Joker was treating everyone. And yet i thought it was a shame to lose him. Oh, wait, maybe we didn't. Even Penguin was horrified and wanted help. Had I known I wouldn't get to watch "Nashville" this weekend, I wouldn't have done this. Maybe next weekend. My internet at home is fast enough to do it anytime ... when it works.

I was able to limit the number of commercials by watching an interactive commercial, but then they didn't explain how to interact. Another time I actually got to tell them whether I liked the commercial. Anyway, I ended up getting stuck watching and interacting every time. But at least it was just one commercial per break. A Dark Knight: To Our Deaths and Beyond
SEASON 4, EPISODE 19 • NEW
4/19/18, 8:00 PM ON WBFFDT 45 • TV-14 • STEREO • CC • DVS
Gordon and Bullock try to figure out who the clever thief is behind the robberies of various bank branches in Gotham; Barbara is put in danger, forcing Tabitha to recruit help. It was funny when Ra's al Ghul said, "Ow." He did not like being brought back and that was not a pleasant scene at all. Was this the one where Alfred faked a heart attack? That scene was funny. A Dark Knight: That Old Corpse
SEASON 4, EPISODE 20 • NEW 5/3/18, 8:00 PM ON WBFFDT 45 • TV-14 • STEREO • CC • DVS
Chaos erupts at the GCPD, sending Gordon chasing the culprit behind the mass takeover; a friend of Bruce's becomes paranoid, resulting in rash and destructive behavior. As bad as the episode was, we did get to laugh several times. Penguin is maybe not exactly cheerful, but he's back to being entertaining, and Butch was funny in one scene with him. There was that man in the back of the van who said "It's Riddler! We're free!" or something like that and then did it again with Penguin. The other guy told him to stop being so optimistic. I never did see the scene that was shown on the screen where all the episodes were listed. Harvey was wearing the hat and Jim had on the suit, and I saw those buildings, but never all three at once. I know Bruce is going to have to live, but again we had a close call with Jeremiah. He's not as funny as his brother but he's dangerous. I'm not clear on what happened to Joker. It was almost funny watching his fans dig up his body and carry him around. And watching Jim and Harvey try to figure out how to handle that. We know he fell off that building but that video made it look like Jeremiah killed him. We know Jim must have gotten out.

Hulu has the show. The same ones that are already free on Fox. What is the point!!!! ? This gave me more time on Saturday. And after visiting my aunt Sunday, I got on the computer and just doing what I intended to do and getting distracted doing other stuff, I didn't get off until after 5. I'd never have had time to watch. I will investigate whichever day I go to the library where I can watch. The other two I still hadn't watched. Hadn't! Surely that's what I meant!

One positive detail about the episode was Harvey's taking charge again. And Harvey being able to disarm that bomb. I had confidence Jim was alive. This was never explained. I disagree about Jeremiah. I'd rather have the hideous clown face and the more humorous version of the character. Jeremiah is harder to take. Penguin is more entertaining once again. But what he did to Butch ... I really didn't like seeing what was happening to Alfred but was relieved it wasn't really. And I certainly didn't like what happened to Selina.

SEASON 4, EPISODE 22 • FINALE 5/17/18, 8:00 PM ON WBFFDT 45 • TV-14 • STEREO • CC • DVS

Some of our favorites died but, in Gotham, death is not always final. Not a good episode at all. Too many terrible events. I did like how Jim and Bruce were determined to stay and help those who were left. If Gotham is supposed to be like New York City, evacuating everyone would have been impossible.

I was sure I actually saw that season 4 was on Netflix. I couldn't get to Netflix in any of the lists of episodes that I missed in season 4. When I tried another type of search, I saw an article with a headline about when season 4 would be available. Well, I don't have time to wait. I have a few weeks before I have to start paying for Netflix.
