I have more details that I can't find right now.
But I'm at my aunt's house today and I passed Wilco-Hess (not the one on Innes) and it was $3.01. Later this week I'm going to where gas is usually even cheaper than it is here--the Raceway had the lowest price I had seen since Katrina, shortly after Obama was elected.

I think I'm one of the lucky ones. Paying about 2.75 a gallon here. Lowest prices in the country from what I've heard on the news.

$3.14 at the former DB, Kangaroo and QM, but up to $3.19 at Wilco-Hess on Innes. I have the details somewhere and will post when I get them, but I know Wilco-Hess was lower.

At Raceway, $3.19, and it wasn't even the lowest. I paid $3.24 where I get bologna sandwiches I like but didn't get much gas. $3.21 former Texaco.

This is insane. $3.29 former Texaco, but $3.45 Wilco-Hess not on Innes, and $3.46 at the Citgo that used to have subs.

I'll go ahead and explain the stations now.
Before I got my own computer, for three years I was driving to the nearest public library because the college library, close enough to my house that I can walk there, started limiting my computer time. There was just too much to read on the WB boards.
Going to that library, I passed the DB, which is now a Citgo, and sometimes got gas there. Yesterday gas there was $3.33. That's also what it was at the Kangaroo, the last station I passed before the library and a place I would sometimes get gas, and the QM, which usually matches the Kangaroo so I used to not report it.
I finally saw cheaper gas at Circle K, formerly Accel, which in the pre-Katrina days always had the cheapest gas. That's almost never true now, and I've never reported this station on the thread. I got $40 worth of gas for $3.29 a gallon. Later I passed the Wilco-Hess on Innes, which is usually the cheapest place in the town where I go to the library every two weeks because they subscribe to lots of newspapers. Gas was $3.27 there but $3.35 on the way home. Circle K was $3.35 too. In fact, I saw a lot of stations go up a lot yesterday.

$3.39 cash....$3.43 cc...at independoil. I thought they quit taking cards. $3.39 at the former Texaco, the closest station to my house and where I get gas for my lawn mower. I ran out of gas in the can but will use the mower only enough so it will start in the spring. Maybe by then the price will be lower.

Yesterday was frustrating. I was getting work done on my car--not a problem, but just annual stuff--and I was close enough to walk to the Citgo where I have been making my own hot dogs at least since 1997. I know I was doing it then because I remember a newspaper photo of them cleaning the place out after a flood. They provide the buns, wieners, slaw, chili and other stuff and you put it together and it's cheaper than other places, plus they taste so good. Gas was $3.43. But even if I had stopped for gas, they couldn't take credit cards. More on the Food Thread.
I didn't stop at the Citgo down the street when I got through walking and having the car worked on because they no longer have subs. Those were delicious and cheaper than anyone else's subs. I wanted some sort of vegetable, and their sandwiches didn't have those. Also $3.43.
Wilco-Hess--not the one on Innes--seems to try to match the Murphy's at Wal-Mart and is therefore nearly always tied for lowest price. It was $3.42 early in the day and $3.39 when I went home.

Yesterday, $3.47 Kangaroo, $3.45 QM and Circle K, and $3.39 Wilco-Hess on Innes. I did see prices go down compared to morning but not at any of those places. Actually, I missed seeing Wilco-Hess in the morning.

Tuesday, Wilco-Hess not on Innes went down from $3.32 to $3.31. The Citgo which once had subs was $3.38.
Yesterday, I saw prices ranging from $3.39 to $3.47. At one place where I cross the interstate, prices are lower than everywhere else. At the place I crossed the interstate yesterday, everyone was $3.46 or $3.47.
I don't know what the full-service price was at the Exxon. It was $3.44 or $3.45 for self-service but I want them to check my tires and under the hood and I buy $10 worth.

$3.43 former Texaco.
I should mention that several weeks ago, places at the beach were below $3. In South Carolina prices are supposed to be lower due to lower gas taxes, and yet that Wilco-Hess was lower than they were.
Now the lowest prices at the beach tend to be around $3.14 or so.

The prices at the beach are down a few cents.
Former DB, $3.44 in the morning and $3.39 in the afternoon.
Kangaroo, $3.44. QM and Circle K, $3.39.
But Wilco-Hess on Innes was $3.29. I estimated I could get $20 and I was right. In the past I've never just been able to fill up, but had to say how much. Just down the street at the interstate, $3.39.

$3.39 RaceWay. $3.59 just down the street, across the street from another place that was $3.39. How does that place stay in business?
I noticed the cheapest places at the beach are about 10 cents higher than last week.

The cheapest gas at the beach is once again where it was earlier.
Where I went yesterday, one place was $3.49 but everyone else was between $3.53 and $3.56. At the interstate, at least they weren't the highest. My Exxon was $3.56 but I get full-service, which is more. Some places appeared higher when I went home than in the morning.

$3.55 former Texaco and the Citgo that had the subs.
$3.54 Wilco-Hess not on Innes in the morning but it was down to $3.52 in the afternoon. I don't know whether that's a positive sign or not.

The prices at the beach are now 20 cents higher. What I didn't notice when they went back to what they were was that the dates were two weeks old. Now the dates are recent.
$3.53 former DB, $3.52 Kangaroo, $3.51 QM and Circle K.
Seeing a front-page headline in The Charlotte Observer when I stopped at the hospital, where you can put in money and take out a paper at the main entrance, which said $4 a gallon gas was coming, I decided not to expect the price to go back down, and Wilco-Hess on Innes was down from $3.49 to $3.47 in the afternoon, so I got $30 worth and that still didn't fill it up.

The good news: $3.57 former Texaco. Also $3.55 at the Citgo that used to have subs.
The bad news: $3.59 Wilco-Hess not on Innes, $3.60 at Citgo with the hot dogs. I got hot dogs but no gas.
The even worse news: $3.53 at the new Shell but $3.65 Exxon and $3.67 by the interstate.
