I love this show, but am really tired of the weekly Sam & Dean drama. It's clearly dragging the show down. A lot of people slam season 6, but at least it had a direction, and consistent action throughout. This season has meandered aimlessly most of the time, and every episode seems to end with some kind of sappy brother moment.
We get it. The Winchester boys have been through a lot. Both are haunted by past experiences, and the loss of Bobby is just the latest blow. But how about the producers quit beating us over the head with this, and give them a true mission to focus on? Like the oft-ignored and mismanaged Leviathans?
I like that the brothers have feelings, and am not against the occasional episode that focuses on this. But this season has gotten to be too much. Let them be men, and focus their troubles on kicking some monster ass instead of constantly emoting. This show is about action, not hankies.

You forget that only one of them is allowed to have overwhelming feelings. But I am sure when his BFF comes back that will be managed then, because Dean doesn't need Sam, not really, not anymore!

Totally agree 100% with this, shadow because it's exactly how I feel. only ONE of the brothers with the initials of D.W. are allowed to have overwhelmingly emotional outbursts or times where he sits in a corner and mopes and talks about how horrible he has it. Only one! And yes, I'm sure once Cas comes back, it's back to that little pretty wallpaper for Sam while he just stands there and makes facial expressions to emphasize what he MIGHT be feeling while Cas and Dean have eye-sex. What an insult to Jared.

yep, did you read what Jensen said? Look at Jess Forum in the Nash Con thread, its really crushing! I don't know what he is smoking right now!
Not looking forward to season 8! And wish for Jared to get out of that contract so he can really work! I am looking forward to see him in different roles, but I love Sam to death, well I will be witness of his character death, because the character is heading in that direction and later to see Sam's death. Because for Sam there is no hope in this series! But Sam is all 'Hope'!

Let's see: season 1 - all about how Sam is one of YED's chosen children; season 2 - all about how Dean has to find a way to save Sam or kill him; season 3 - Dean goes to hell and Sam wants to find a way to stop it; season 4 - Dean gets out of hell and Sam spirals into demon-blood and lets Lucifer out of his cage; season 5 - Sam and Dean try to stop the Apocalypse; season 6 - Sam spends several episodes soulless and Castiel make a foolish alliance. Looks to me like both characters have had their share of stories.

As much as I understand the frustration of Sam fans, this thread was meant to be about the direction of the show in general, not one specific character. I am pretty sure there are other threads for that sort of thing...

SOCAL- COULD NOT AGREE WITH YOU MORE THUS FAR, ALL 7 SEASONS HAVE BEEN: DEAN HAS THE POV, WHILE SAM HAS THE MYTHARC. I WISH BOTH WERE MORE EVEN BETWEEN THE CHARACTERS, BUT ITS VERY RARE THAT IT EVER IS.

OH, THEY'VE BOTH HAD THEIR SHARE OF STORYLINES . IT'S THE CONNECTION TO THE OVERALL MYTHARC THAT I'M REFERING TO.SAMMY HAS BEEN CONNECTED TO IT FROM THE FIRST EPI. WE SAW BLOOD BEING DRIBBLED INTO HIS LITTLE MOUTH. FROM THEN ON, ITS BEEN 'WILL HE OR WON'T HE GO DARKSIDE'. IT WASNT UNTIL WE DISCOVERED THAT DEAN WAS MICHAEL'S CHOSEN VESSEL, THAT DEAN WAS AS INTIMATELY CONNECTED TO THAT MYTHARC.

As much as I understand the frustration of Sam fans, this thread was meant to be about the direction of the show in general, not one specific character. I am pretty sure there are other threads for that sort of thing... the person talked about emo angst from both brothers and its quite frustrating that its just not the truth, they are not both emo-ing and depressed, its one and only one since a very long time! When someone says 'the brothers' its not true, not on my screen! The myth arc? What is the point of the mytharc? To give the story a coherence, but it is important what happens to this character, what is done to him to see repercussions, feelings, anything, how he is dealing. But its all drowned in Dean pain and dried out from the writers. Poor choice! And see some reactions, I don't want to gloss over Sam's issues, but people get tired of the big emo drama from, coming out from appearently nothing! But this is my last comment here, sorry etmogul!

I remember Jensen saying in an interview once, about how he felt his character really got to be a piece of the story once Dean was raised from Hell and found out he had a mission. Until then, Dean's whole existance was built around "saving Sam."

Story has fuck all to do with what I'm talking about. If either of you Dean Brigaide girls, who seem to love storming in on threads or bashing Sam girls in the Dean thread, paid attention to what shadow and I are upset about is that we are simply upset with the lack of emotional focus, true character development and PoV for Sam. It has nothing to do with story. Open your eyes and pay attention to what we're saying next time before you insist on jumping in and shoving in our faces about storylines because that's not what we're upset about.
I apologize, etmogul, I'm out.

oh no, I don't think so, its a saying, when somebody is talking puzzling things! So he's not allowed to have his own opinion when he does and you don't agree with it, he's in your words "smoking something"? How would you like it if someone said what you said about Jensen about Jared when he gave his opinion, I bet you would not like it. It happens to Jared more than you think!

Ok, ladies...let's dial it back a bit. Ya'll don't have to hug, but a little less hostility is called for. Also getting back to Topic is appealing... Maybe I wouldn't be so hostile if you guys weren't letting the Dean girls in their little Dean thread get away with bitching about the Sam fans when the Sam fans are doing absolutely nothing to them personally, but old habits die hard I guess.

LOL, THIS ADMITTED DEAN GIRL (THO I DO ADORE SAM AS WELL), KNOWS WHAT YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT. I WAS ANSWERING ANOTHER POSTER AND AGREING WITH SOMETHING THEY SAID. YOU EVER STOP TO THINK ABOUT WHY SAMMY'S EMOTIONS AREN'T BEING AS FOCUSED UPON AS DEAN'S SEEM TO BE? HEEL, SAM GAVE ONE HUGE HINT BACK IN 'SAM,INTERRUPTED'. HE'S AFRAID OF WHAT HE'S FEELING, AND AFRAID TO LOSE CONTROL OF HIMSELF. PRIOR TO THE SOULESS SAM ERA, SAMMY WAS AFRAID OF LETTING OUT HIS EMOTIONS, SUCCUMBING TO THOSE EMOTIONS AND GOING DARKSIDE. CURRENTLY, HE'S KEEPING HIS EMOTIONS CLOSED UP BECAUSE OF HIS FRAGILE PSYCHOLOGICAL STATE. HE'S TRYING TO KEEP IN CONTROL OF HIS HELLUCINATIONS. THE WAY IN WHICH HE'S DOING THAT IS BY KEEPING TIGHT CONTROL OVER HIS EMOTIONS. ONCE HE LOSES THE BATTLE FOR HIS SANITY, WE'RE GOING TO SEE SOME PRETTY INTENSE EMOTIONS FROM SAM. SINCE DEAN ISN'T IN JEOPARDY OF LOSING HIS SANITY, HIS CHARACTER CAN AFFORD THESE EMOTIONAL OUTBURSTS, FOR STORYLINE PURPOSES.

I LOVE brother angst. I love it when they fight. I love it when they gank demons together. I love it when they eat (burgers for Dean, salads for Sam). I love it when they argue. I just love the whole damn show. I may quibble with some episodes ("Bugs" for example) but for the 99.99% of the show, I have no problem.

JBP - yup, the itching powder the glue on the glass. Those boys! Just slightly off track....my very favorite episode is "Nightshifter" because it wasn't about either Sam or Dean....it was about a shifter and both characters were featured prominently. I especially loved the ending: "We are SO screwed!"

Well, if I had known... And yet there's a post with blaringly obvious personal attacking that you guys just blatantly ignore. It makes no sense to me. Having an opinion is one thing, fan bashing is another. It's an opinion, and the content doesn't break TOS so is allowed. What is not allowed is going against the wishes of the OP. Not in the Dean/Sam threads nor in this one. If you think the mods have overlooked a post violating TOS, you know where the report button is and we'll take a look at it. The OP has asked to get it back on track, stay on topic, or post elsewhere.

You know whats interesting. That you can diss either brother. Its insane when the whole show is about two brothers trying to protect each other and love each other and live a life where they can make a difference.
But yea seperate them, believe they hate each other. Count the minutes their on a t.v. show and angsting about each other. I think there are ways to support your point without dissing one of the brothers.....well some can do this anyhow.

I simply cannot tell you how much I agree! This season is a fucking pathetic joke. Bad writing, soap opera-ish storylines, and treating the boys as if they were Dr. Phil guests. Makes them look like self absorbed little crybabies. The writers need to get with the program, god damn it!
