I drank apple juice that old with no apparent problem. It tasted fine. The problem with mayonnaise is that it contains eggs.

We had barbecue for Christmas, meaning the day after for supper. For most of you, that doesn't mean what you think it does. Even in North Carolina, there's some disagreement about how to make it, and we didn't even have sauce, which is a whole other issue. But we use the name to refer to a type of pork.
We had green slaw on Sunday, when we also had beef with potatoes and carrots because that's what I like. And rice. My other aunt used to make that for me when I would visit her. But wednesday we had red slaw. It doesn't have to be sweet, but this was. Green slaw (white slaw is what the barbecue places call it) can be sweet too.
We also had potato chips.
I ate too much dessert. One of my cousins makes chocolate eclairs. Years ago she put in too much salt and this year was the first time someone besides me mentioned that. I didn't bring up her older son's not getting to have his picture taken in his Christmas outfit with his great-grandmother, but that used to be a tradition. He didn't merely need his diaper changed, but his entire outfit. Fortunately, she had another one. Just not a Christmas one. And his great-grandmother wasn't around next Christmas.

Grilled fish is healthier than fish sticks but more expensive. I finally gave in and bought tilapia. Turns out it's really good. Parchment bake was on sale at my usual grocery AND I got a coupon when I scanned my card that lets me take advantage of sales. It's wrapped in paper and you can put it in a conventional oven. It smelled like it was burning but when I took it out the paper was just slightly browned. It's quite a mess when it is taken out. I should have probably let the cats have it but I threw it right in the trash. This is only a problem if I smell it, which I haven't so far. It tastes good, but even on sale it was expensive. And it only comes two to a pack. If I eat one that's still not as much as I get when I eat fish sticks. But it's healthier. I found tilapia fish sticks. I don't know whether they're better than regular. What I really want is more of the potato fish sticks I can only get at this one place I may go to next week. And my grocery has potato fish as well.

I haven't had actual hamburger lately. I've been eating turkey burgers for so long that's what I prefer. But I had a coupon for the beef kind. Next time I get one of those, I'll see if they'll let me use it on the turkey.

It sounds like a nice treat for when I cannot force myself to cook.

On the subject of expiration dates, which I mostly ignore because I'd be throwing so much out, I drank milk yesterday with a date of January 11. It tasted a little funny but it was low-fat anyway. That's not supposed to taste good.
I have drunk milk that was absolutely sour and had no ill effects. That's what I get for not checking until I had driven several miles.

On Friday, the combination of vegetable beef soup, slaw, and "woven crackers" was very potent. I couldn't find whole grain versions of either Premium-type or Ritz-type crackers when the coupon was for the store brand. The square ones they don't sell any more but I'm hoping they're just out of the round ones. I try to eat whole-grain crackers whenever possible except on weekends when I eat cheese crackers.
I put slaw on my hot dogs and ate a Quaker oatmeal cookie on Saturday. I prefer Archway but I had a coupon. Those Quaker cookies are good! However ...
No vegetables on Sunday but I did eat another oatmeal cookie. I think I've figured out what happened on Friday. It's that lemon pepper fish. The cheese crackers certainly didn't help.
Larry the Cable Guy would be proud. Or even Mike Baxter.

I'm out of Parchment Bake so I decided to try another healthy fish option. At least I assume it's healthy.
It's from Gorton and it smells disgusting when it heats up. It tastes good, but later I had this terrible taste in my mouth. I eventually realized garlic bread tastes this way. I avoid anything that says garlic, but I must not have seen it or it wasn't on the package.
Next time I'll just have unhealthy fish sticks. I have a lot of them.

Well, I came home to find the freezer pretty much as it was.
Some of you will be glad to know my refrigerator had been cleaned out. It was a disaster area. I had spilled stuff so many times I gave up on trying to clean it up. Numerous bottles and jars had dropped on the floor so was keeping them in a separate place. Nearly all of those were gone. It's not like what was in them had gone bad. Most were new.
I've eaten lunch on Sunday with my aunt and her family twice since I was released. And today my aunt picked me up for a lunch at her church with a most unappetizing Lent message. Actually, my uncle was driving, which surprised me since he had just had knee surgery and I keep expecting him to still be having trouble getting around like me. But he sure was moving around well and helping clean up.

I don't recall ever eating an ice cream cake before yesterday. But two of my aunt's family members celebrated birthdays.

For my 2500th post, that's what I call it when I make a Sloppy Joe the same way as with hamburger, only it's turkey instead of beef.

Congratulations Kyle on your 2500th post. Thanks for the explanation. I make homemade chili with ground turkey and it tastes delicious.

I spent Easter with my aunt. We had ham, deviled eggs, macaroni and cheese and two desserts. One was a coconut pie and I heard someone say the other had something to do with Reese's.

Brown Rice Triscuit was on sale so I got it. It tasted absolutely disgusting. As I was calling the company to tell them, hoping to get a coupon, I found out there was more to the name of the product. Tomato and basil. Crackers should not taste like tomato. The basil must be what's so disgusting.

I ate too much yesterday. Because my table was February, it was decorated for Valentine's Day. Some tables had the decorations for the month you would expect, such as a patriotic theme for July. Others didn't. March had Easter, not St. Patrick's Day, and April had an April showers theme.
People go around the room and eat each other's desserts. One woman was gluten free and asked for just icing off our cake.

So I eat with my family on Mother's Day.
I've already been told we're having ham, green beans and potato salad.

This is unbelievable. My aunt who is 83 and can't see out of one eye until she has surgery didn't just sit down and wait to be waited on. She asked what she could do. My other aunt at 81 continues to help get lunch ready when the family visits. Two of her daughters do too.
Now if you ask me why I don't help I just mess things up and get in the way.
Today I ate tuna from a can with Miracle Whip. I'm almost out of fish sticks and have nothing to wrap the new ones in. Once I open the box what's inside gets stale if I don't have a bag of hot dog buns or something to wrap it in.
The tuna was delicious!

I haven't had a sloppy joe in weeks but mine today were GOOD!
I almost never do the same formula two weeks in a row. I know they're called recipes but I just don't do a good job with being consistent.
There was very little water and I almost burned them. Putting the ketchup in close to the end may be the secret.
What I've been eating for the past several months are sloppy toms.

I notice I eat less than I did when I was younger. I enjoy eating steamed crabs and I get full before I can eat 1/2 dozen. They are much too expensive to throw away.
I put the left over crabs into soup and it gives the soup a nice kick. I really love the spicy flavor.

More tuna today.
Because in some years the college library has closed early or for the entire day on the Friday before Memorial Day, I just treat Thursday as Friday and vice versa. I have someplace where I can go where it won't matter that it's Friday.

There's a TV series called "On the Spot" which answers trivia questions.
In some parts of the world people eat bugs, and at least one type of insect (I forget which one now) tastes like bacon.

For two weeks in a row I have eaten lots of good food at church. And it happens again in two weeks. And again two weeks after that.
Yesterday it was the first time I had visited my aunt since Mother's Day.

Enough of trying to eat healthy.
I didn't even notice this had some kind of sauce. The fish was too spicy anyway.
I had a coupon but shouldn't have bothered. Fish sticks are cheaper even at the regular price.
I'm going back to unhelathy food.
