There are a bunch of BTS photos over at SpoilerTV from the episode they're starting on.....8.03, Heartache. Go take a look, but be prepared. Jared's hair is massive. So massive the sideburns are all but hidden. Here's a sneak peek: If Jared isn't careful, in a few years he'll look like this:

You're too kind. But I can't take credit for creating the "It" photo, only for putting it on these boards.

Have no doubt: The CW president Mark Pedowitz hearts "Supernaturals" Sam and Dean.
Speaking at the Television Critics Association’s summer press tour in Beverly Hills on Monday morning, Pedowitz put his support behind the Winchester boys, saying “there was no question” about the Season 8 renewal — and even hinted at a possible ninth (!) season.
“The guys are great,” he continued. “The show is great. We’re big believers in the show.”
Pedowitz revealed that Misha Collins’ heavenly angel Castiel will be in a “minimum of eight” Season 8 episodes — but what about the demon-hunting brothers he pals around with and their prospects beyond the upcoming run? The CW boss expressed his desire to keep the series going for a long, long time. When asked whether there have already been talks about securing stars Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki beyond next season, Pedowitz told reporters, “There’s always conversations that happen. I am a big Supernatural fan.”
In fact, he added, “I hope it stays on as long as I’m still here.”
Let's hope Mr. Pedowitz is around for a long time! Only a little over two months to go until season 8!

From "Ask Ausiello"
Question: Any Supernatural scoop about the Dean-Castiel dynamic? —Joyce Ausiello: “That is something that we explore heavily throughout the season through some pretty extensive flashbacks into purgatory,” reveals new showrunner Jeremy Carver. “People are always referring to purgatory as hell, and purgatory is not hell. Purgatory is a really brutal, free-wheeling place, but it has different effects on different people. It will have a different effect on Cas and Dean as you already started to see [in the Season 7 finale]. But I will say what you think you saw might not be exactly what you saw.”

These statements are intriguing. We saw red-eyed monsters looking at Dean and it looked like Castiel disappeared. I have no idea what he means. I am so curious; it's killing me!

Looking at pictures of Jensen and Jared from season 1 and comparing them to season 7.....wow, has Jared changed. Jensen looks older (but in a GOOD way), yes, but Jared looks like a baby in those season 1 photos. Big difference between agee 22 and age 30, huh? season 1: season 7:

I have noticed quite often how different Jared's look has changed over the years. At first, I thought it was the hair, but now I think it is his features too.
I swear to beans - I don't think it is possible for Jensen to take a bad photo. Jealous!

I was tempted to put this pic in the "Who Am I" thread, but there are so many women in Supernatural with this style. Liane Balaban, Supernatural HOW FRESH? | Pretty fresh, save for a couple episodes of Alphas (playing a human “Rosetta stone") and a guest gig on Covert Affairs (as Auggie’s Russian hacker ex). WHY WATCH? | She's playing a romantic interest for one of the boys (in this case, Sam), and as we all know, that always goes entertainingly sideways, one way or another. courtesy of TVOnline
When producers tease that they will give us a copy of the script, this is what they give us.

One of the things I'm hoping for in Season 8, is the viewers ACTUALLY SEEING Sam look for or find a way to save Dean. All I'm asking for is if there was some type of montage with Sam showing the passing months, I'd just like to see him pouring over books or making some calls, etc. Just something that showed he did try.
I know the spoilers have stated that the reason Sam seems to move on is because he doesn't really have any clue where to try to look for Dean. And I completely understand that and have no problem with that.
I'm just afraid that by not showing Sam even attempting to look for Dean, it's going to give people even more ammo against liking Sam.
I guess, if nothing else, they can go the same route that they went with Dean and just have Sam say he tried, but since there wasn't a whole lot to go on, he didn't know where to turn. But I'd prefer to see it this time instead of verbalizing it.
I missed that in Season 6. I know Dean told Sam and Bobby that he tried looking for a way to get Sam out, did tons of research, borrowed a lot of books, etc, but we NEVER saw him do that. And although I'm not saying he was lying, I just wish we saw him do that stuff.

When I watch a show, I want to see the events take place. Otherwise, I could be reading a book. I hope we see Sam try to find Dean, and I hope he tried to trap Crowley into telling him something. I know Crowley is his most devious arch-foe, but he knows Crowley seems to have a way of knowing everything that is happening.
I will never understand the anti-Sam people. If Supernatural was about two squeaky clean boys who always do what everyone likes, I think it would be less interesting. I do not think we have to worry about the Sam haters bothering us here.

Anti, Waggy, I agree with both of you. I wanted to see Sam looking for a way to get Dean back. I really wanted to see how Sam was coping during the time Dean was gone. I also wanted to see how Dean was doing in Purgatory, how he was surviving. I want to see it, not be told about it.
I did a S7 rewatch twice to see how S7 worked together as a whole. I think that although S7 had problems I do understand Sam and Dean a little better now. I had not been happy with how they were portrayed during the season, but seeing the episodes all together made a difference for me. I understood some of why they acted the way they did and I like them more now than I did during the season.
I have missed Sam and Dean that we knew and I know that S8 they are supposed to mature some, but let's not get to carried away and make them into people we don't know.
