Nothing, of course, is better than hearing Cohen's own voice
Bono of U2 captured the twin sides of the song "Hallelujah" perfectly:
"A lot of writers have dared to walk up the edge of reason and stared into that great chasm, into the abyss. Very few people have got there and kind of laughed out loud at what they saw."
To me, this is a song about seeing the horrors and falsity in the world, yet finding within yourself something greater, and just lifting up your arms to it, and saying in spite of all, "Hallelujah."
It's the most wickedly black and humorous, yet spiritual hymn ever made.

Well, it makes it a lot easier to understand, in some cases, if you add a few words that say why the song makes you think of The Evicted, in addition to posting the video. Plus, it's always more fun to know what the song means to you.
Others, like "Feeling Groovy" you can pretty well get right off the bat.

The song that I posted makes me think of the departure of Susie and Max.
It makes me think of the new Mod regime that followed.
And as we are all children of those halcyon days, it makes me think of the Evicted.
