Amazing. I had just today been thinking about how I wanted to add this very same song to the thread. But, I had in mind the version by Art Garfunkel, Paul Simon, and James Taylor, mostly because I'm such an Art Garfunkel fan.
But, hey, you can't really get any better than Sam Cooke, can you? You can only try.
I add this one too:

Oh, when I was in grade school, we all loved to sing this song: Why isn't anyone as inventive anymore?

If we're all lucky this is what it feels like to come back home.

I feel sad when one of our members is missing, and I know we must make an effort to find them.

There must be some way this fits into TE, but, if not, I just love her voice and want to be her!

this one doesn't end with the spoken-word poem on the album... "You just better start sniffin' your own rank subjugation, Jack 'cause it's just you against your tattered libido, the bank and the mortician, forever man and it wouldn't be luck if you could get out of life ALIVE!!"*

It was played, very effectively, during episode 5.16 "Dark Side Of The Moon".

Gotta admit I like Bob Dylan's version better than Guns and Roses. One instance when Dylan's crappy voice doesn't hut the song.

Little pissant rapper hip-hop weenies could never make music this beautiful.

I bought a set of mini ear buds to listen to the beautiful music. But now, I must venture on a mighty quest to find a pissant rapper who plays music as beautifully as Pink Floyd. If I do not return before year's end, blame it on the challenge.
In the interim, this song makes me think of the friendships formed on The Evicted "keep me awake for every moment to give us more time to be this way." (This one is on my iPod )

CCR: One of my favorite groups from the very early 70's. They never got enough respect.
