Or just refresh the page. That usually works too.

Earlier today I got a "proboards.com is not responding" message, which also said Windows was looking for a solution to the problem. I got a report about messages like that recently (hopefully I can get such a report and send it to proboards) and sent it to a web site that shut down the Internet, but so far nothing. The good news is that the last time I went to that site at home, it didn't shut down. I have to go to that site every day because it's a newspaper which doesn't have an archive if I miss a day. All it has is a search function for which you have to search for the articles that appeared. But if you don't live there and didn't see the site that day, how do you know what appeared? I once asked how to see the articles I missed and was asked what I was looking for. Huh? I was looking for the articles that APPEARED.

I got the angry bear again. How does one save that image because there's no URL for it.

Kyle, those things are not in our control. That's a proboards issue, not an issue that we can take care of.

Kyle, those things are not in our control. That's a proboards issue, not an issue that we can take care of. I know. I was just commenting. I don't know when or if I'll get a list of problems that might indicate why the board was messing up which the proboards people could look at. I know I got such a list recently and passed it on to the web site where the problem happened, but no response, though it isn't happening now.

This page took too long to generate and has been stopped. A log of this error has been reported to ProBoards Support.

I gather that's a fairly routine message, like the angry bear message, it's not really something to be concerned about. But thank you for bringing it to our attention.

Exactly. As Watchtower said, both the Angry Bear message and the 'took too long to generate' message occur from time to time, and are perfectly normal, as occasionally the ProBoards servers have a hiccup. What kind of internet connection do you have: cable, DSL, or dial-up? I have cable, and during several periods where I was having internet connectivity problems I got both of those messages a lot. The problem in those instances was the fault of my internet service provider, and not ProBoards. Go to this page: www.speedtest.net/ and do the speed test. Then scroll down a bit and do the Ping test as well, and post your results either here or by PM to me, and I might be able to tell you a bit more.

What kind of internet connection do you have: cable, DSL, or dial-up? Slow. But this site goes pretty fast most of the time. That only happened the one time.

it could mean very slow dsl! Right. But most of the time I can't tell any difference from the various libraries I go to.

I copied the error message and forgot to save it. It took me numerous tries to send a PM. So I'm wondering if it even got sent.
Confirmed received. Thank you to the recipient. My attempt to respond was greeted as follows:
error calling pre_pmsend2 -- Can't call method "auth" on an undefined value at /usr/local/PBV4.5/modules-new/sendemail.pl line 28.
I also got a white screen when attempting to come here.

DSL, cable, satellite, or another method? What is the speed your internet service provider promises for your account? At the URL below you can get your current upload and download speed. Please post it here, or send it to me via PM, so that we can help you. www.speedtest.net/Also, what browser are you using?

If it happens again I'll let you know. I asked once and was told my DSL speed is supposed to be something like 150K or 160K. That's actually plenty fast for here and the other sites I go to at home, though newspaper web sites are so slow that breaking news is outdated by the time I see it.

From the list of boards, the last post on the music board was January 26.
I clicked on the thread, which I know I posted on, and this was true. Yet when I go to the music board, the same thread was started later and my post was actually the last, on December 6. And other threads have had posts sicne that one.

Some pages look different than others.
On the different looking pages, generally the newest ones, there is a gray bar with "Report to mod", "Link to post", etc. very high up in each post.
Quoted posts are black like the rest of the post.
The "Reply" and other links are larger than usual.

Kyle, I am using Chrome, and I notice the "report to mod" button is 2 spaces below the last line of the post. However, the quoted posts are still blue or purple, and the "reply" button looks the same to me. I will ask AVP to take a look. If it happens to you again, please give us the name of the thread. I will bookmark this page so I can check immediately.

I am seeing the different look right now. Well, not RIGHT now. The gray bar is immediately below the last line. I have IE9.
Edit: Now that's weird. It looked normal just now.

Do you mean in the Glitches thread?

Post by KyleEl on Jan 25, 2013 16:48:18 GMT -5
Yes. There is a large white space now between the last line of each post and "Report to Mod". Which is how it has always looked.
Edit: And when I click on "back" I get the gray bar with "Report to Mod" way up high.

Thanks. Everything looks normal to me. I will talk to staff about it and I will also go to Internet Explorer and see if that looks different from Chrome.
