Jeez, this season is so boring (so far) no one is coming in to discuss it. SAD.

I noticed that Dean looked guilty while talking to Cas...so, Dean probably did leave Cas behind.
Thanks to Jensen's acting, I noticed that.

According to Zap2It....
Recurring characters are rare on "Supernatural," especially lately, as the Winchesters have lost old friends like Bobby and Rufus. Fortunately, while Dean was busy in Purgatory and Sam was busy having picnics in the park, there were still a few hunters left to keep people safe. Zap2it has exclusively confirmed that an old friend of the Winchesters' will return this year to help Sam and Dean out on a case. (Though Dean might object to that description.)
"Lost" actor Jon Gries will return this season as Martin Creaser, a hunter who helped John Winchester out multiple times while he was alive. Fans will remember Martin from the Season 5 episode "Sam, Interrupted," in which Sam and Dean found him in a mental institution after the trauma of hunting got the better of him.
Now, Martin is out of the loony bin and back on the job. As we already reported, in the Halloween episode, Sam will finally come face-to-face with Benny, Dean's vampire pal from Purgatory. Suffice to say that Sam won't exactly be inviting Benny to join the family.
In the upcoming episode "Citizen Fang," Sam asks Martin to keep an eye on Benny after some unexplained deaths in Benny's hometown. Dean won't be particularly happy about it -- and when Martin finds out that a Winchester has teamed up with a vampire, he will not be impressed.

I heard that Dean is going to dump and/or leave Sam at the side of the road in an upcoming episode.
Is this true? I seriously hope not. I will not be happy.

Dean is indeed going to leave Sam behind and go meet up with Benny in episode 8.05, "Blood Brothers." I think Dean does this because he doesn't want Sam to know about Benny....who/what he is and that Dean brought him out of Purgatory. Looking at some of the spoiler photos from the episode, Sam does eventually meet Benny in Dean's presence. Jensen has said that so far 8.05 is his favorite. I hope it's good since episode 2 and 3 were less than stellar.

Can someone please kill off Garth? please??? I don't want to see Garth, ever. I am not excited for 804 but that is because I am not a fan of that kind of filming. I am excited about 8.05, it looks to be a good one.

Dean dumps Sam by the road? not good.
Although once Sam meets Benny, I am expecting Sam to give Dean some crap about working with a monster. Dean has always said not to work with a monster, so I guess it is suddenly OK now?

I'm afraid I know nothing about dumping him by the road....all I read was that he tells Sam he has to go do something on his own and leaves him. We'll just have to wait until Halloween....that's when the episode runs.

Here's the official description for episode 8.07 "A Little Slice of Kevin" - air date November 14.
"SUPERNATURAL – “A Little Slice of Kevin” (9:00-10:00pm) Mrs. Tran (Lauren Tom) and Kevin (Osric Chau) work to concoct a demon bomb to use against Crowley (Mark Sheppard), and Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) are stunned when Castiel (Misha Collins) appears and tells them he escaped from Purgatory."
I can not wait to see the boy's faces when Cass comes back!
What do you think?

I know Dean was dead set against working with demons in the first five seasons. After having to work with Meg in Seasons 6 and 7, having to call a truce with the Alpha Vampire and Crowley to get their blood, asking Lenore for help, and Ghost!Bobby, Dean is no longer as rigid in his views on monsters. He doesn't like them, but he will work with them as a means to an end.
I think Benny is special and that Dean actually bonded with him as both an ally and as a kindred spirit - love of the hunt. When Benny was in Season 2, he was one of the vampires who survived on animal blood. His name was Eli then, but maybe Benny is not supposed to drink human blood. Dean did tell him to behave himself.

I'm not sure if Dean will look guilty, worried or thrilled. Should be interesting.

Was Benny an actual character from season 2 "Bloodlust?" I'll have to watch that again. Maybe Benny recognized Dean and since Dean didn't kill them then, feels like he owes it to him to help him survive Purgatory. More and more interesting.

No, Benny and Eli are 2 different characters who happen to be played by the same actor. That is the only thing that connects them.

Thanks Waggy. I think they should have made them the same, but maybe Eli did not have an accident accent like they wanted Benny to have.

Thanks Waggy. I think they should have made them the same, but maybe Eli did not have an accident like they wanted Benny to have. Agreed. I think that would have made Benny's protection of Dean in Purgatory even better. I'm sure he protected only because he knew Dean was a human "Get out of Hell Free" card. But to have connected with the late, lamented Lenore would have been cool.

SoCal, I agree. That would have made the Benny-Dean connection more personal. (When I read your post, I realized I typed "accident" instead of "accent". )

More season 8 spoilery: Oooo my goodness! Here's a big-assed spoiler from EW.com via Misha about Castiel in season 8. "If you, like me, are still haunted by the image of Castiel calling out to Dean in Purgatory, sit back. I have some interesting intel for you. While talking to Misha Collins about his charitable scavenger hunt (more about that here), he also confirmed a hunch we’d had about the last time Dean saw Cas. It was, in fact, while Dean was exiting Purgatory. But there’s much more to it than that. “That very moment is a pivotal moment. I think Dean is confused about what happened at that moment and won’t actually find out what happened then until episode 7,” he reveals. “It’s going to take a while to see that moment play out.” Suffice to say the truth hurts — especially on this show. But when Cas does return topside, look for him to be “reinvigorated with a sense of purpose,” says Collins. “He essentially feels like he has to do good in order to right the wrongs of his past. So he starts to collaborate with Sam and Dean for that reason — so that he can continue to try to make things right. He’s no longer paying penance, really, because it’s no longer an act of suffering for him. But he’s doing his best to right the wrongs of his past.” Doing so won’t be as easy as he hopes, however. “He’s doing that in ways that help Sam and Dean and then, ultimately, it might also make life — as per usual with the Supernatural universe — complicated for Sam and Dean. At first, it seems like everything is hunky dory. But things quickly fall apart.” I'm so very inerested in that "pivotal moment" and what happened and why Dean is confused. I'm hoping and praying that means Dean didn't purposely leave Hot Wings behind! Oh my...the wait is going to be torture...sweet, sweet "Supernatural" torture. What do you think about this spoiler? Happy, sad, curled up on the floor in the foetal position? I am wide awake today and was pondering your first post on page 2 of this thread, so I went back to page 1. How did I miss this? *kicks self* I am surprised but gratified that Dean did not understand what happened when he exited Purgatory. That would explain his vague responses to Sam's questions about Castiel. It will be nice to see the guys working together as a team rather than being opposed to each other. So life is going to get complicated? Of course it will. They can't let the Castiel fans have too much fun; it wouldn't be supernatural. I had no clue about how Dean would get out of Purgatory and I have no guesses on how Castiel will get out or what is going to go wrong while Castiel is helping the Winchesters. I am looking forward to finding out.

Benny sipping blood in front of Dean is funny because it makes me think of the look on Dean's face the first time he saw Sam slurping blood directly from the vein. Every time I watch that episode, I start to laugh in anticipation of that scene. I am looking forward to Episode 5.

I am really looking forward to this one as well, I can't wait!
It will be very interesting to see how Sam reacts to Benny.
And when Cas comes back it will be interesting to see how Sam and Dean react to him, I bet that episode will be awesome!

Thanks for posting this. I had heard that "left Sam by the side of the road" rumor, but decided to wait and see. I do not mind them arguing as long as they are not whining. Wow, Dean is determined to get to Benny and just as determined to avoid telling Sam about him. "Did you have a stroke?"

Zap2it reported that a season five character is going to make a return appearance. Martin Creaser (Jon Gries), the hunter turned mental patient in the very off centered "Sam, Interrupted," is out of the nuthouse and hunting again. The fact that Sam is tasking him the follow Benny around is a very interesting twist. He will be in episode, 8.09, "Citizen Fang." Why does that smell like he's gonna get killed? I know this show to well!

Here's the full description of episode 8.07 "A Little Slice of Kevin" with a bit more detail about Castiel's return.
CASTIEL ESCAPES PURGATORY - Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) are stunned when Castiel (Misha Collins) suddenly appears back on Earth with no memory of how he escaped from Purgatory. Meanwhile, Mrs. Tran (guest star Lauren Tom) enlists a witch (guest star Cyrina Fiallo) to concoct a demon bomb, but the witch double crosses Mrs. Tran and turns her and Kevin (guest star Osric Chau) over to Crowley (guest star Mark Sheppard). Charlie Carner directed the episode written by Eugenie Ross-Leming & Brad Buckner (#807).

I might be the only one, but the last time we saw her she seemed to be in a catatonic state, and I honestly didn't know if she was going to stay that way.

The fact that Sam is tasking him the follow Benny around is a very interesting twist. He will be in episode, 8.09, "Citizen Fang." Why does that smell like he's gonna get killed? I know this show to well! First of all, I'm curious how Martin got out of the nuthouse. I wonder if, after helping Sam and Dean in Sam Interrupted, he found the courage to be a hunter again and eventually sneaked his way out. As for Martin's fate, I too, have a feeling that he will be killed in this episode. I also feel that Benny will kill Martin himself, or get another Vampire to kill Martin for him and either claim to Dean that he had no choice--which will be a lie--OR say that he has no clue who killed Martin--which also will be a lie. I also have a bad feeling this episode will really tear the brothers apart.

I like Martin and he is the first hunter to admit that fear of a monster caused him to have a breakdown. But he still tried to help get rid of the wraith.
For some reason, I want to like Benny. If he causes Martin's death, that won't be possible.

For some reason, I want to like Benny. If he causes Martin's death, that won't be possible. See, I'm the opposite. I don't like Benny, even though he hasn't done anything wrong--that we know of, yet. When I see and hear about Benny, I keep flashing back to Season 4 with Cas and Ruby and how they majorly contributed to ripping the brother's apart. I have a feeling Benny's going to be doing that again. Now I'm not saying that Sam and Dean can't have friends outside of each other and if Benny was strickly a human, I could deal with him. But Benny's not. And for the record, back in Season 4, I wasn't too thrilled with Sam hanging around Ruby all the time either.
