SAM AND DEAN FACE THE SECOND TRIAL — Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) respond to a call from Kevin (guest star Osric Chau), who is terrified after hearing Crowley’s (guest star Mark Sheppard) voice in his head. After hearing Kevin’s news, Sam and Dean team up with reaper named Ajay (guest star Assaf Cohen), who helps them deal with the second trial from the Tablet. Meanwhile, Dean receives a visit from Naomi (guest star Amanda Tapping) and realizes he must find Benny (guest star Ty Olsson) and ask for a huge favor.

Twitter says Laura Prudom wrote a great Huffington Post article on tonight's episode. Is it safe to read it without it spoiling the episode by giving too many details?

Anti, don't do it. You may risk spoiling your viewing of the first new episode in 3 weeks! Hold out for a few hours more.

So what do people think Naomi says to Dean that makes him turn around and ask Benny for help? Unless she thinks he can find Cas, but how would Benny fit into that?
Personally, I'm not too happy that Benny's making a reappearance. At least this time it sounds like it's going to be FOR Sam instead of AGAINST Sam.

There is quite a bit of speculation going around that the girl in the cage is Amelia. What do you think?
There is also some speculation that there is a shot of Bobby, in the promo. While I never saw the shot myself, there are a couple of places that are too dark for me to tell.

Crowley sent Bobby to Hell? WTH?? Yeah, hearing that surprised me as well. I wonder if it isn't just a trick to make sure Sam does come downstairs. And what was up with that homeless-looking person that stared at Sam after he left with the taxi driver guide?

Thanks for the screen caps.
The 3rd screen cap is interesting to me. It looks like Purgatory.
Could that be why Dean asks Benny for help? He somehow figures out that Sam's in Purgatory and asks Benny to go back there to help get Sam out?
I think the first picture is Bobby like most are speculating. The second picture, I'm not sure if it's supposed to be anybody, but a few are speculating that it's Amelia. The woman seems a little young to be her, but it could be.

Waggy, you have solved a question that I had. I wondered why Dean would go to Benny with a "Hell" problem. Purgatory must become an issue and that is why Dean would go to Benny. But that is asking a lot of a friend.

I could be wrong, but the way I've interpreted things, Naomi talks with Dean and then Dean turns around and asks Benny for help.
This leads me to think that Naomi tells Dean that Sam is in Purgatory--or will be going to Purgatory. So I ask, assuming she does, why would Naomi tell Dean that Sam is in/will be in Purgatory?
Unless she and Crowley have some type of deal and at the last minute Crowley changes things up or pushes her out from reaping the benefits. So she realizes she needs to stop him from achieving whatever goal they were both going after and the way to do that, is by telling Dean about Sammy in Purgatory.

Naomi and Crowley apparently have a history, but their relationship is contentious. They cannot be friends - that would be unseemly, as one of the characters said. I guess this is the Sarah that people are talking about that will be a guest from the past. I like her.

According to SpoilerTV.....
"Clip Show"
FAMILIAR FACES RETURN AS THE THIRD TRIAL NEARS - Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) reunite with Castiel (Misha Collins). Digging through the Men of Letters' files, they stumble upon an undiscovered film which could be the key to the third trial. Metatron (guest star Curtis Armstrong) enlists Cass to mull over problems at home. Meanwhile, Crowley (guest star Mark Sheppard) digs into Sam and Dean's past. Taylor Cole, Graham Wardle, and Cindy Busby also guest star. Thomas J. Wright directed the episode written by Andrew Dabb (#822).
Source: CW
Apparently Sarah's not the only blast from the past the boys will get. As Graham Wardle is "Tommy" from the Season 1 episode, Wendigo.
So that leaves me with the question of why Tommy? Sarah I get, Crowley, or whoever, could very well be using her to screw with Sam. But Tommy didn't really connect with either brother. If they wanted somebody from that episode and one to connect with Dean, Haley would have been the better choice. Or if they wanted to continue to mess with Sam, then use the younger brother--whose name escapes me--but Tommy makes no sense.

I cannot imagine what Crowley is searching for in Sam's and Dean's past, but I am going to re-watch the Men of Letters episode so they will be fresh in my memory. I wonder if Tommy will return as a different character like they did Benny (which I don't really understand) because, as Waggy said, Tommy did not have an opportunity to connect with the guys.

I'm leaning towards it actually being "Tommy" that comes back and not a different character. Mainly because I've repeatedly read the words "blasts from the past" and from bits I've picked up, it WILL actually be Sarah. So it's not that hard to think it will actually be Tommy. All that being said, I don't know anything 100% and there is always the possibility that I misinterpreted the information I read.

My only guess is that Crowley may bring these two to the present day because they represent the guys past. They were both in the first season when the guys were still actually hunting monsters and saving people. They still save people but not to the extent they used to, I think there is something in the past that plays into the present, but what it is I don't know for sure.

I am very curious and excited about the upcoming episode(s). I watched the Men of Letters episodes again and enjoyed them very much.
Are there any rumors about when we will see Kevin?

I think Kevin is in the next one, It looks like all hands on deck for that one, and it looks intense. We should probably buy lots of Kleenex now.

In the promo for 8.21 Cas looks to be held by someone? and Sam looks awful, Poor Sam . In the sneak peek for 8.21, Dean is trying so hard to help Sam, and Sam just looks like he is resigned to his fate, whatever it may be. I am wonder if in the last 3 episodes we have that they focus more on the closing of the Gates of Hell or if they are going to waste the time with nonsense? I thought last years 7.22 was mostly a waste of time personally and S8 has been so much better, I don't want them to blow it at the end.

Kevin is in the next one, but I'm not sure in what capacity. We may only see him in the video, and then again, maybe Sam and Dean will actually find Kevin.

I do hope they find Kevin and i hope he is OK, I like that he has a mind of his own and doesn't let the boys "talk" him into doing things, he has outsmarted them twice. Poor Sammy looks so sick

I agree. Kevin is really smart and when he does not want to be found, he can elude them for a long time. None of the previews show how Naomi got her hands on Castiel.

By Carina Adly MacKenzie May 2, 2013 4:29 PM ET "In this week's episode of"Supernatural," we saw Sam take a pretty scary downward spiral as the damage from the trials continued its assault on his body. In next week's episode, "Clip Show," Sam's still ailing, but despite his obvious illness, Dean remains completely sure that Sam will succeed in closing the gates of hell. Sam and Dean seek information from a priest, who can't help but notice how sick Sam is when he starts coughing up blood in the church. The priest is bewildered by the idea that Sam -- in his condition -- could take on the forces of hell. Dean says, "Sammy's gonna take whatever shredded your friend and every other black-eyed b**** out there, and he's gonna get rid of them. For good. Father, over the past couple of months I've seen him do crap that I didn't even think was possible. I mean, sure, he's miserable and he's hurting, but you know what, there's not a doubt in my mind that he's gonna cross that finish line. Not one." After a few seasons of tension between the brothers, it's nice to see them in the same corner. Tune in Wednesday night at 9 p.m. EST."

More from Carina on May 6:
"Supernatural": Just because Crowley stole the Angel tablet from Castiel's ribcage doesn't mean Naomi's going to give up her hunt -- or her grip on Castiel. Look to learn much more about her motives in the final two episodes of the season. "You're definitely going to see much more of Naomi," executive producer Jeremy Carver says. "I think what we have now is a slightly incomplete picture of who this angel is and what she wants. I think that is something that will continue to be refined."
Sounds like Crowley still has the angel tablet. What do you think?

I bet Crowley still has the angel tablet, and I "think" that maybe Crowley and Naomi are working together, maybe not toward a unified end, maybe just a let's see who get it first kind of approach. Crowley said he had plans and deals(?) so that makes me wonder what is Crowley's real objective? what is Naomi's objective? why does Naomi still want Cas? What does he represent to her? I have questions and no answers
