I needed a thread to talk about the show so that I could respond to Kyle's post. Then I watched the "Scandal" episode I taped last week. Wow. I mean wow. Then I watched the new episode, almost live. Cyrus actually covered up the murder of the second gentleman by his wife the vice-president. Who is still being encouraged to run for president. Meanwhile, Olivia's father was banished from Wonderland. I now know that's the term they use for some secret government operation. Turns out Olivia's mother really was a terrorist. I'm still lost because I don't know why they got rid of Olivia's father, who doesn't even answer to the president. Well, apparently he does. When I read this, I realized I had not watched the episode, A Door Marked Exit. It did not record and I must need to make some adjustments. The other episodes did record. I just watched it on ABC and there was a lot of fall-out from what Cyrus did to his husband; fall-out from the Vice President's actions; fall-out from Olivia's actions regarding her mother; fall-out from Olivia's father casting so many insults at the President; fall-out from Quinn's actions; and so much more. I believe Olivia's father lost his job because he said he had more power than the President. That put Fitz's honor on the line and he had to pull a power play to oust Mr. Pope. It came down to who truly had the most power. I am glad Jake landed on his feet because I really like him. It looked like Olivia's mother was in Washington. I cannot imagine why she would return. Cyrus does not know his husband went to the District Attorney but he might find out. It is difficult to keep secrets in D.C. Too many people know that the Vice President killed her husband. That was a very exciting episode.

I should have started this thread a long time ago. It bothered Jeff when I would talk about this show to explain why I couldn't watch "Elementary" live. But it bothered me to send people to another thread to read my comments.

Me too. I should have just started the topic.
I went back and copied everything I said on threads for "Elementary".
I think someone shot the president. At least a new episode is coming next week but that would make a good cliffhanger. I really can't follow that show because everything's so complicated.
But they're asking "Who shot Fitz?" on "Scandal" (that's also a hashtag). Imagine if Twitter had been around for "Who Shot J.R." Or any of the Internet.
Defiance County, Ohio determined the outcome of the presidential election. And a reporter has discovered rigged voting machines.
The President is critical and not responding.
They did leave us with a cliffhanger. One of the show's stars has been framed for shooting the President. Plus the gay husband has evidence he wasn't legitimately elected.
They desperately need Sherlock or Adrian Monk.
Amazing! It ended sort of like "Elementary" might have. They are trying to do what Mrs. Wilson did nearly a hundred years ago. The President had yet to wake up when the First Lady forged his signature. In a development that would have made Sherlock proud, the First Lady is not left-handed like her husband, so that was not his signature! Oh, sure it was. He just woke up. Actually, it was too neat a signature for that.
Meanwhile, they caught the woman who did it, but the brains behind her have yet to be arrested. And after torturing the man who was framed, they had to let him go because only he could find the guilty party. They really do need Sherlock on the case.
"Scandal" had the President attempting to convince people he really was all right even though he was always this close to passing out or falling.
Plus they had flashbacks to his election. Lots of scandal!
752 ... 752 ... 752 ... 752 ...
It's not that I enjoy it that much but I couldn't just miss it. The First Lady went on network TV to tell the world her husband was cheating on her. Which is exactly what he was doing while she was doing that. His mistress didn't want him aroud her but she just couldn't resist.
The president went in front of reporters and stated his extramarital affair was none of their business. His poor press secretary had to keep answering all questions the same way--it's a private matter, and that question has already been answered.
Kerry Washington was nominated for an Emmy. Broadcast network dramas no longer get Emmy nominations.
Here is essentially what happened last night. The President confessed to an affair with Monica Lewinsky to hide the fact he was really fooling around with Condoleezza Rice. He ordered his chief of staff to get a secret government unit the chief of staff didn't know the President knew about to release a prisoner--even though that unit answers to no one, not even him.
That is what happened. Kerry Washington plays a former White House aide of some sort but he's been carrying on with her for years. The intern is comparable in status to Monica but not devious.
And of course hackers are a big part of "Scandal". One woman was trying to solve the crisis by breaking into the FBI's files. She couldn't.
Cynthia Stevenson, who has always been so cute and still looked cute, strapped a bomb to herself and went inside the Capitol.
The fallout from the President's affair was still there, and his mistress was trying to defuse the situation and got accused of being a terrorist, which the woman's son supposedly was.
But Lisa Kudrow is running for President and the First Lady insulted her without realizing a mike was still on.
And the President flew a secret mission into Iran in the first Iraq war. A man died because of this but the President saw to it the man had a proper Arlington burial.
Lisa Kudrow's presidential campaign has wrecked her personal life.
Lisa Kudrow has such an attitude! She'll make a great presidential candidate.

Ride, Sally, Ride (first aired 2/27/14)
It seemed like I waited a long time for this episode and it was worth the wait.
I was shocked when the door opened and the President was passionately kissing Olivia. He either needs to lock the door or get a stronger assistant to guard his door.
James really hates Cyrus and wants to destroy him. In his attempt to destroy Cyrus, he is also throwing Fitz, Olivia, the V.P. and others under the bus too.
Another shock was that Mellie had an affair when Fitz was governor.
After Mellie insisted that Olivia get a boyfriend so people would stop saying she was Fitz' lover, I think it was a good idea that she chose Jake. She does not have to lie to Jake since he already knows the story.
Although James is creating problems, I think Olivia's father is a bigger threat and he seems ready to let Olivia be collateral damage.

Kiss Kiss Bang BangI think this is one of the most surprising and scandalous series I have ever watched and I really enjoy it. I had been waiting all week to see who got shot at the end of the previous episode. Since some of us need to play catch up on the series, I am putting the details in a spoiler bar. The following is a recap. Turns out that Jake did kill the two women and also James, and then convinced David to help him cover it up. Liv, being the smartest person in Washington, figures out that it was a hit. Liv calls Jake and asks him to look into James's death, but Jake is a little busy, you know, digging a grave for the two women he killed.
Through the episode, we see various flashbacks of how Cyrus and James got together, and how James convinced Cyrus to step out of the closet. I grinned when Cyrus started waltzing with James and the people in the room all turned around to gape at them.
Liv tries to coddle Cyrus but he's concerned that, while Fitz is taking time off from the campaign to mourn James, Sally is going to steal the gun lobby from them, and he's right. At least she's trying to. Nichols and Mellie meet with the NRA instead and extract a promise of support if Fitz makes a speech supporting the 2nd Amendment. At Cyrus's urging, Fitz instead decides to cede the gun lobby to Sally and try to steal some of Reston's support by coming out in favor of gun control in light of James's death. But Nichols and Mellie's trip wasn't a total waste: they totally do it.
Meanwhile, Quinn and Charlie are finding a patsy to go to prison for carjacking and killing James, but David has cold feet about charging a man he knows is innocent. Abby realizes that David's hiding something and he finally breaks and tells her his role in covering up James's murder. Adnan has put Liv's mother on retainer for…something. They're meeting with terrorists and whatnot, and Liv's mom is just killing dudes as a negotiating point. Adnan visits Harrison and says that she might want a quick escape.
Huck pulls video footage from inside Liv's safe and finds out Quinn looked at the file. Liv confronts Jake and claims he's becoming her father. Jake thinks he's different because he does the terrible things himself instead of making a soldier do it. Liv meets with her father, looking for some sort of comfort and explanation for how the world makes sense. He assures her that being Command means suffering, and that maybe it's Liv's role to save the monsters and the demons and pull them into the light.
Speaking of demons, Huck visits Quinn to kill her for breaking into OPA, but explains that he realized she would know to avoid the video camera so she must have wanted them to know what B613 knew. She spit on him, and instead of knocking her out, he kisses her passionately. Quinn told him if he was not going to kill her, then he should get out. Huck left.
Liv visits David and convinces him to arrest the patsy so that they can work together to take down B613, since that's the problem and not Jake or whomever is Command. When Cyrus decides to act as Press Secretary to announce the patsy's arrest, he breaks down at the podium and Fitz has to rescue him while Liv takes over.
The episode ends as we find out how James died, which was slow and awful, but Jake explained to the dying James that it had to happen that way so that it would look like an amateur did it. And Jake stays with him so that he won't die alone. I really like Jake and I do not want him to be the bad guy.

I'm only a week behind now.
I found the debates really confusing but obviously the practice debates couldn't have the real people.
The format for the real debate was nothing like real debaters. Jimmy Smits and Alan Alda asked to suspend the rules and just have a real debate, and their moderator said they were the ones that set the rules, so they could go ahead.
I was relieved Sally didn't confess.

Mama Said Knock You Out
This was one scandalous episode!
The son was going to wear a T-shirt saying “Vote for Reston” because he was so angry with his father. Wow!
The daughter walked in on her mother and the V.P. candidate in a compromising position. Now they are angry with both parents.
I feel sorry for Harrison because the woman just used him to get the information she needed.
I really do like Jake, but I wish now that the President had not put him as head of B613.
If Olivia wants people to respect and listen to her, she needs to end her relationship with Fitz.

3.16 The Fluffer
New (April 3, 2016)
Abby takes on Olivia's duties at the White House as the team continues its B613 investigation.
This was a very exciting episode.
It was typical that Fitz is upset about his wife having an affair even though he has been doing the same thing. I was shocked, but pleased, that Mellie slapped Fitz.
Then Reston "shot himself in the foot" when he was harsh with his wife.
I think this is one time that Olivia's expertise backfired and she will regret it if the President gets hurt because of it. I do not think Jake will trust her again.

I may get an opportunity to see what I missed when I go to the college library tomorrow. I hope so, anyway. On two other channels the cable went out for a total of somewhere from five to ten minutes during the shows I was taping. I could tell it happened on the other TiVo as well, even though I haven't tried watching. If it hadn't happened on both, that would have been really bad news. The problem has cleared up as of bedtime last night. I have a second episode to watch too, but in order to see what I missed I have to know what I missed. This turned out to be a much harder episode to watch than I thought. ABC blocked me from seeing it just because my cable provider is Time Warner. Actually, so what? It's a broadcast network and I could see it over the air if I wanted. If I had known in time perhaps I could have.
Tomorrow is the first day this episode is available online to "the rest of us". But I can't go to that library where I would normally watch since it is closed for the holiday (except if I have to go the ABC site I'm blocked from that one there until software upgrades). So is the college library, where I think it would be all right to watch just what I needed to watch. Until Monday afternoon at 5!!!
I haven't watched the episode that preceded it. I'm just glad the finale is tonight.
