4.09 Where the Sun Don't Shine - With Command always two steps ahead, everyone in Olivia's life is in danger.
So much happened in this episode and some questions were answered, but other issues arose. There are people in the cabinet who are more scandalous than Cyrus and Fitz. The show is appropriately named.
Fitz was advised that surveillance showed Elizabeth North was having an affair with the V.P. and that she arranged for sexually explicit pictures to be taken of Cyrus. Mellie was in the room when the tidbit about the affair was discussed.
Elizabeth leaked the pictures to the media and there was a media frenzy ridiculing Cyrus. He resigned even though Fitz begged him to stay. Olivia suggested Cyrus marry Michael and pretend it was a love story because people are forgiving when love is involved.
Olivia told Fitz and Jake to charge her mother with treason and to locate and kill her father. Daddy Pope shocked Olivia when she entered her apartment and there he was reminiscing about her childhood. He tricked her into revealing that she really would shoot him. I think he might actually disown her this time.
Meanwhile, Command was cleaning up loose ends by having all of his agents assassinated. Jake defended himself and killed another agent. Quinn warned Charlie about the danger. After getting intimate, she discovered Charlie had a kill card for her. They had a brutal physical altercation then forgave each other. Charlie had the missing files and agreed to give some to Huck for protection. Huck pleaded with his ex to read the files so she would understand why he is the way he is. I hope she reads them so she will stop saying he made up the spy stories.
Quinn and Huck solved the case of the attempted assassination on the Vice President. The V.P. had set up the attempt himself in order to push the President into going to war.
I enjoyed it when Mellie confronted Elizabeth about the affair with the Vice President and assured her that she would screw them both during the next election.
Olivia was at her best when she talked Cyrus out of going through with his resignation. He held a press conference with Michael to tell everyone it was a love match.
When Jake visited, Olivia refused to talk about her father and told him she was free and just wanted to dance. So they danced to the music her father had left on her table. Then she suggested making love on the piano and Jake walked into the bedroom to get some pillows and a blanket. I never heard a sound, but when Jake returned to the room, Olivia was gone and her glass of wine was spilled on the sofa.
People would not dare to harm Olivia when her father was in her life and protecting her.

I just saw the one where the president's duaghter made a sex tape. I thought it would rive her mom over the edge but she handled that really well.
I wasn't expecting blackmail from the parents of one of the boys, but Olivia got them good.
And now Command is back in command, sort of. I have no idea what's happening there.

No time yet but I have lots to watch tonight, tomorrow night and Thursday night. As long as I can extend the life of any episode, I am doing it.
I've only lost one "Big Bang Theory" episode and the movie "Pollock" (that one was really the result of a 3:30 starting time which caused me to overlook it). And the "SNL" Thanksgiving speical, which I forgot to record anyway.

For some reason, I had not seen this week's episode of "The First Family". They keep repeating the same ones over and over and over, and yet every now and then it happens.
And here's what is considered a scandal on that show. Yes, they used the word.
A senator got food poisoning because someone found President Kennedy's cheese and was having it sent to the Smithsonian. It somehow got mixed up with a gift being sent to the senator.
And if that's not enough, the President's mother-in-law, having trouble understanding technology, emailed a photo of herself in a bikini to all her contacts. The First Lady is old enough to have a teenage son. And her mother was Florence on "The Jeffersons" in the 1970s (though still attractive even at her age). That's why this was so scandalous.

I think "smellie Mellie" is entertaining too. The first lady is beautiful even when she is disheveled while wearing booties, sweatpants and a robe. I did think it was weird of her to stretch out on her son's grave. I was going to say the same thing. This show is heating up. Olivia is distraught about what is happening to Jake and she is unsure what to believe. I think Jake is being framed for all of the current accusations. Fitz and Mellie have had two major arguments in the oval office. I would hate to be the Marine stationed outside the door and have to listen to those arguments. They have to act as if they heard nothing and that cannot be easy. Fitz is jealous and when a powerful man is in a rage, I expect to see major fall-out. I think Jake is handling the interrogation the best way he can because admitting treason will do him no good. I hope Olivia can help him, but I do not know how because the people she would ask for help all want him dead. Poor Huck. He has tried so hard to protect his family and it continues to bring him misery. David Rosen is a good guy and he still has a conscience. I am not sure he belongs in the White House inner circle because they are all corrupt. This appears to be the episode I watched last night. Pretty good, mainly because of Smellie Mellie, but also because of the way Cyrus handled things with Olivia.

I now have two episodes I am saving each night and still haven't had time to watch the latest edition of Smellie Mellie.
And another scandal on "The First Family"! The First Lady there reminds me so much of Mellie for some reason, even though she's black. And prettier. Because her husband approved of snooping on telephone conversations and email, she caught her husband having an affair. A surprise birthday party is, in fact, an affair.

An Innocent Man
Olivia was tricked by a convict and that is unusual for her. Maybe if she had not been distracted by her personal life, she would have noticed. I feel sorry for Jake because Mr. Pope is a master manipulator and Jake will probably never get anywhere near a court trial. Fitz is holding on to “hope” – hope that there is still a chance for him with Olivia. That is the kind of love odes are written about. Now daddy is angry with his not so little girl. I wondered why Huck was so happy while playing the video game. Well done. Cyrus has truly messed up now. I cannot feel sorry for Cyrus even though I really liked his husband and don’t think it was fair that his life was put in jeopardy. The upside is that the people who set Cyrus up probably have no idea how dangerous he is. I have never liked Abby, but I give her points for speaking up. This must be the episode I saw. All I remember about the date was that there were still campaign commercials.

The story arc of Olivia's abduction was done very well. She was able to use her skill as a negotiator and motivational speaker to lure her captors into doing things that would help her to make the best of a terrible situation.
The downside:
The Vice President had Olivia kidnapped and insisted the President go to war or Olivia would be murdered. The Vice President had the Secret Service under his control and there were none that Fitz could trust. Fitz capitulated because he did not want Olivia to be abused and killed. People died in the battles. Cyrus was having a mental hissy fit about the President's decision and plotted to have Olivia killed. The President's Cabinet know why he went to war and there is no way they can respect him now. Huck was so upset when he found out about the involvement of the Secretary and V.P. in Olivia's abduction, he tortured the Secretary and mutilated someone else. When Jake asked Olivia's father for help, he refused and said "I have no daughter." I do not blame him because she pointed a gun at him and pulled the trigger. Olivia told Fitz that going to war to save her destroyed everything she and they had fought for...to make him a great president.
The upside:
The auctions for Olivia were exciting. Mellie manipulating the Vice President. Olivia's mother helping them with the auction. Learning that Huck had access to billions of dollars. Jake working with Team Olivia. Rosen helping Abby. Stephen coming to the rescue. I re-watched the first episode of the show so that I would understand Stephen's connection to the team. Olivia's safe return. Huck eliminating the V.P.

“The Lawn Chair” addressed a current issue involving white police shooting a young black man. The young man’s father came to the scene with a shotgun and demanded to talk to the officer who killed his son. The police department requested Olivia’s help in convincing the father to put the gun away and let the CSI’s investigate. Then a community activist arrived and encouraged the man to remain. He gave the father a lawn chair; the man placed the lawn chair over his son’s body and sat down.
I was interested in seeing how Olivia would handle the racial issue, especially when the activist brought up her close ties to the white house.
While that was happening a mile down the road from the white house, Mellie and Fitz were discussing his promise to help her run for President during a future term. They chose an outrageous candidate to fill the Vice President’s term until the next election because they want to be sure the interim VP is un-electable as President. That lady will be comic relief.

Young Olivia is on "Black-ish". She was one of the children on "The First Family" but has been mysteriously absent from recent episodes.
At long last, I have seen the episode where Olivia has been abducted. That was hard to watch but she is so strong and so determined to help others even in this situation. And just when i thought things were going to get better, they didn't.
It was pretty obvious it was a dream when Fitz was merely a mayor. There's no way that would have happened. Besides, the commercials suggest she's still a prisoner.

I should probably watch an episode of this tonight, but then I run the risk of losing "Last Man Standing" so I can watch the "Glee" finale. Lots of movies this weekend, and I still have five or six episodes of this to go along with five episodes of "Modern Family" and two or three of "Reign". With all the shows and movies for which I was going to go back and see stuff I missed a year ago, I haven't gotten rid of them yet. There's no way to do that unless it's during the commercial breaks or right after I finish, and I guess I didn't have time. The other machine has a bunch of "Jeopardy" episodes I wasn't sure I had seen. All these years later, I would have to just watch them.
I was going to post links to photos of Smellie Mellie and the "First Family" first lady, but I couldn't find any cases where they looked alike. Furthermore, I discovered another "First Family" scandal: she posed for pornographic pictures. I'm surprised Google would allow these in just search results. It's too easy for kids to get to them.

So did you see it? Wow, she was naughty. She was in a mattress store flirting with the salesman and lying on the bed.
I saw the episode where Olivia persuaded those holding her prisoner to sell her to the highest bidder. It was good business. Wow, she's good. They had her holding a newspaper and reading lies off cue cards. And the poor President had to go to war ... or else! The Veep is controlling him like a puppet! Cyrus couldn't believe it. Not since Cheney and Bush have we seen that. Biden wouldn't be able to do it.
Oops. I read too much. I haven't gotten to those episodes yet. Or that one.
It was Marla Gibbs who said, "Where's the black lady?" and led them to clues about Olivia's disappearance. She is the President's mother-in-law on "The First Family". And she looks younger and comments on still being able to wear a bikini.

I had time to see one more.
Olivia was auctioned off and that was really exciting. The man who was the brains behind the operation got killed and a man Olivia said wasn't very smart was in charge. She tried to manipulate these guys who could have been in Scorpion to somehow get them all out from under his command. Didn't work, and now she's headed for Iran.
But we almost got rid of the vice president. Mellie (after what she did for families of those killed in the war, I can't call her that other name any more) doesn't want people finding out about her. So they can't do anything to the vice president. We're still where we were under Bush and Cheney! But not because Fitz is a moron.
I couldn't believe what Huck did. Killing can be clean. Murder mysteries can be G-rated. But this ...
