I finally got my first vaccine today with very little after effects just some itching around my left arm where I got my shot at. My second one is on the 27th around the same time frame as today's. I finally got my first. I was waiting until I didn't need an appointment, I felt good, it wasn't hot and I didn't have anything refrigerated I needed to buy before I got home. Plus I decided last week not to go to the place I had planned to, but to go closer to home. Then i found out they weren't giving it close to home. And except for pain in my left arm, which gets worse when I keep bumping it, I haven't had any obvious problems. My second one is the 1st.

My second one went well so-so. Has some soreness, some nausea and some night sweat s but am doing much better now. So far my arm hurts and, in fact, everything hurts as if I've been doing too much. I had a different person and the shot actually hurt. I wasn't worried about it because it wasn't bad the first time, but I should have. I also had to stay for 15 minutes, which happened both times with the shingles vaccine but not the last time I had a shot.

Let me start by saying it is everyone's one choice to either wear a mask or not, we are all adults and can make our own choices.
that being said, I would like to encourage people to continue to wear masks and social distance, and most importantly to think about what can happen to to you AND your loved ones. Here is why i say that, as an immunocompromised person for over 12 years now, I have learned to wash my hands and carry hand sanitizer and stay away from sick people, since Feb of 2020 I had to start wearing masks also, and for a while gloves when I went out. I now carry at least 2-3 masks with me at all times in case one breaks and try to stay away from people as much as possible. I have had the shots, but they won't help me much since i suppress my immune system, and I will continue to wear a mask for the foreseeable future, without an immune system I don't take chances. Because of my illness I take medicine to suppress my immune system. No one is allowed in my house, and if someone does I spray Lysol afterward to kill any germs, when I go around my family I wear a mask. My vaccinated daughter got Covid, but she is over it now, so even if you are vaccinated don't take chances. I read about a study on people like myself, immunocompromised, transplant patients, people with cancer, people who can't have the vaccine, etc., it comes up to 4% of the US population or 12 million people who are at higher risk simply because of our health.
So please think about that before you go out.

novemberschild I agree that it is important to wear masks whenever we are around people. It is so important to me that I put on a mask every time I open the door for a delivery. Even though the packages are placed on the porch, the delivery person could’ve sneezed on the porch a second before I open the door. So I do not take any chances. And none of the delivery people wear a mask when they come to the door. I was thinking about you earlier today and I am glad you checked in. Are you watching TV or did you find something else to keep you occupied? I am used to being alone now and plan to avoid social events for the foreseeable future. I have declined all invitations to graduations, etc. It is not that important.

Hi Anti, I am not working right now and haven't for a while, I'm leery about working around people even with masks on. I do watch TV, and spend time on the computer, i watch YouTube and have found some interesting things there.
Since i don't care for most of the new shows i watch a lot of reruns. Did you know Leverage was rebooted on IMDBtv, the new season starts in Sept. i think, it has everyone back except for Tim Hutton.
Not sure what kind of music you like, but i found a incredible singer on Youtube, his name is Dimash from Kazakhstan, he is like no one else i have ever heard, he can sing in many languages, and even if you don't understand what he is saying, you don't have to. You can feel his passion and the emotion he is conveying. If you decide to check him out, start with the first song SOS.
I agree , i won't go places or do anything different than i have for the last 18 months, until everyone takes this seriously and do what needs to be done, we will be in limbo for a while.

Dimash is absolutely amazing. He does not need words; his voice is extraordinary.

I texted my oldest grandson and he responded! When he left home years ago, we seldom got a response, so I am glad he lets me know how he is doing. He had told me he would not move back to a cold climate and he did not. He is in Florida and said it's like COVID never happened. I guess he made the right choice because it is freezing here and our hospitals are packed. I have been well, but I get nervous every time I cough because help is not on the way.

My mom's in the hospital again. Hip surgery this time...it really sucks. I'd drive up there, but my God!!! The parking is SO expensive at Cedar Sinai. I'll just pray she's okay. 🙏

Aeryn, I hope your mom gets well. Parking is also expensive at our Sinai Hospital and the lot is always overcrowded.

I need hip surgery myself but it will have to wait until there's no more threat from the virus.
Also, I want to avoid doing it at all.
There's a major hospital in my area that's shutting down a parking garage for construction.

The credit union sent me a link to request Covid rapid response test kits via the post office. It was super easy to do and the package arrived today.
Although I went to a lab to have routine bloodwork, I am delaying having the DEXA bone scan until I feel safe. Advance Radiology is harassing me to come in via daily messages and phone calls. But a routine bone scan is not an emergency.
