Why is there so much negativity towards Garth? I liked him and found him funny. Truthfully, he was the only thing that saved the episode, Season 7-Time For a Wedding, for me. Otherwise, I don't think I would have sat through it. For the record, I know a lot of people had issues with Mr. Fizzles, the sock puppet. I personally liked it, thought it was cute. That being said, I did find it a little odd consdering the girl was like 8 or 9 years old, not 3 or 4. However, I understood him using it though. I can't recall, but didn't Dean, or some other cop, try to talk to her, but she wasn't talking? So I just saw it as Garth trying a different approach or tactic to get her to answer their questions. Was it a little crazy, sure, but in the words of Dean Winchester: "Crazy works". You know how it is Waggy...."different strokes for different folks." I just find the character annoying. He looks like a stick figure and I find it difficult to believe him as a hunter. I'm not a fan of the actor. I'm just not into him. He's annoying. I don't find him to be an asset to the show (regardless of how friendly he is with Jared).

I do not usually waffle, but I keep waffling on the subject of Garth. My initial reaction was that he was amusing and I found the sock puppet amusing also. Then I heard negative reactions and wondered if I liked Garth because I am a fan of Qualls. I like him in Memphis Beat and The New Guy. But it does not bother me to have him in the show.

I don't care for the character of Garth nor do I care for the actor. Garth- I find it hard to believe that this skinny little guy could fight and get thrown around the way he does and doesn't get hurt, or at least not in the 2 times we have saw him on screen get thrown around. The one thing I will say is that maybe he would have been written better, maybe I would like him better. idk.
Qualls as an actor comes across as arrogant and that puts me off of him. There is an article on him in the new SPN magazine and he has some arrogance to him, either that or maybe it is my dislike of him that colors my view of him. Just my opinion, every one is entitled to their own.

When it comes to arrogance, Qualls is a 10+. I mentioned in one of my other posts that he is a Twitter jerk. I never realized that until I started to follow him on Twitter after he was on Supernatural. It really surprises me because I do not see what he has to be arrogant about. His followers have tweeted him to chill, but he does not change.
November, just letting you know it is not your imagination.

Supernatural Wiki has noticed that The CW website now has an official description for season 8. Here's the full synposis:
The thrilling and terrifying journey of the Winchester Brothers continues with the eighth season of ¡°Supernatural¡± on The CW. Twenty-seven years ago, Sam Winchester (Jared Padalecki) and Dean Winchester (Jensen Ackles) lost their mother to a mysterious and demonic supernatural force. Subsequently, their father John (Jeffrey Dean Morgan, ¡°Watchmen¡±) raised them to be soldiers. He taught them about the paranormal evil that lives in the dark corners and on the back roads of America¡and he taught them how to kill it. Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) have spent the last seven years battling the things that go bump in the night. Over the years, with the help of both fallen-angel, Castiel (Misha Collins, ¡°24¡å), and the King of Hell, Crowley (Mark A. Sheppard), the Winchesters have straddled the line between good and evil. Last season, the boys encountered their worst enemy yet, Leviathan, a highly adaptable, seemingly unkillable foe that takes the form of billionaire Dick Roman. Roman¡¯s plan is to turn the human race into a walking buffet for the Leviathan to feed on once the world has been taken over. Roman discovers the existence of a tablet that is the only source on how to kill the Leviathan and stops at nothing to get it. The Winchesters, along with Castiel, also discover the tablet and the young prophet, Kevin Tran (Osric Chau), who is the only one who can decipher the text. Using the tablet, the boys are able to beat the Leviathan, but after the blast, Dean and Castiel find themselves in Purgatory and Sam finds himself alone. Season Eight begins with Dean¡¯s seemingly impossible escape from Purgatory, though Castiel is nowhere to be found. However, Dean isn¡¯t alone. He¡¯s returned with a mysterious comrade-in-arms whose reason for escape is perhaps more than Dean bargained for. Meanwhile, Sam finds himself reconciling the life he discovered while Dean was gone with Dean¡¯s sudden reappearance. As the boys struggle with their unexpected reunion, they make a shocking discovery that could lead them on a deeply personal mission to settle old scores. If only they could agree ¨C is this a ¡°family business¡± or isn¡¯t it?. From Warner Bros. Television in association with Wonderland Sound and Vision, with executive producers McG (¡°Charlie¡¯s Angels,¡± ¡°The O.C.¡±), Robert Singer (¡°Midnight Caller¡±), Jeremy Carver (¡°Being Human¡±), Phil Sgriccia and Adam Glass.
And... that's all I got. As soon as new info surfaces, we'll have it here. For all the latest Supernatural info and article links, follow The Winchester Family Business on Twitter at @winfambusiness

I still want to wait and see what actually happens on screen. I no longer put any stock into their spoilers, or interviews that they do, since last season they were so awful with it. And S6 wasn't any better with that information.

Great news. Just saw the CW Supernatural season 8 promo @ SpoilerTV and while you couldn't see much because it was very short, we did see Dean with an axe (presumably in Purgatory) looking VERY badass........
And then, the announcer says....."Supernatural....season premiere, Wednesday, October 3..."
YES......it returns on October 3!!!!!

Interesting sounds like Dean is going to be in purgatory a while in earth years. If Sam got a whole new life. I'm not sure how I feel about that. If it's another Lisa deal, like Dean had when he thought Sam was in hell, that's lame they already did that. But I'll wait to see. Plus what happened to Cas? And how does Dean get out? Should be interesting either way. Here's hoping Sam doesn't have a kid and a girlfriend/wife. If he does that I hope she and Garth shot each other die in episode two.

You are so welcome. I laughed at your description of the 12-second 'what happened' video. What's the point of showing us......nothing. And...showing it so fast that if there were anything to see, we wouldn't be able to see it? CW IS run by monkeys.

I don't know about anybody else, but when I first heard a long while ago that Sam had seemingly moved on and that Dean wasn't too happy with him, I was a bit upset with Sam and felt quite a bit for Dean--despite being a Sam-girl.
However, as time has gotten closer, read spoilers, and I've thought about it more, I find my feelings have changed. Meaning, I'm finding myself feeling/understanding Sam more and getting a little upset with Dean, where it's been said that he's not too happy that Sam's moved on.
Now I'm NOT saying that I think Dean's feelings are wrong, if I were him, I'd most likely be a bit angry/miffed as well. That being said, I can understand how or why Sam moved on.
Thinking back to the other times Sam and Dean have separated, they knew where the other one ended up. Sam knew Dean went into the pit and Dean knew Sam was in the cage. So all the one that was left behind had to do was focus their energies on opening the gate or the cage. This time though, Sam didn't even know that Dean was in Purgatory. For all he knew, Dean and Cas blew up when Dick blew up. And with Bobby dead, Cas possibly blown up too, Kevin kidnapped, and Meg seemingly MIA--possibly because of Crowely--Sam was really on his own.

I agree with you Waggy. There was nothing for him to go on. I do not know if Mystery Spot affected you the same way it did me, but when Sam became obsessed with finding the Trickster to either get revenge or make him return Dean, I was disturbed. He seemed almost evil, and I don't want him to be like that again.

I agree Waggy. Right now I'm not going to form any opinions on who was wrong, who did what, who should have done that.....I'm just going to wait and see the new episodes. To tell you the truth, I enjoy a little tension between Dean and Sam. It makes for some interesting story telling. Besides, who of us with brothers and/or sisters love them all the time and don't disagree with them often? Two weeks to go!! I can hardly contain myself.

That's a good point Waggy, Sam didn't know where Dean had went to or if he was still alive, he had no clues of where to start. 2 weeks to go!!!!!!

Also, the last time Dean was gone, Sam spiraled down into despair.
Maybe to avoid doing that again, especially since he doesn't know where Dean is, that's why he seemingly moves on with his life. Maybe he sort of feels like if he doesn't move on, he's going to get sucked into this kind of pit of despair.
I hope that made sense.
On a brighter note...I'm happy to read that as soon as Dean pops back up, Sam immediately hooks back up with him. Instead of dragging Sam back into the hunt, like Sam did with Dean in Season 6.

I guess it's lucky for Sam that there's no demon around (a pretty, sexy girl demon) to suck him into the dark side.

John Showalter directed the episode written by Andrew Dabb & Daniel Loflin (#803).
