Thank you Jennifer, I still miss him and sometimes i do write poems, every year since his death I do write a poem (one for each year he's been gone) and I have done a few video tributes for him too which are on Youtube!

What a meaningful song moon
I believe that's a testament to how the novel resonated with many people. All kinds of people mostly I believe is because each of us in our own way are like doubtful John

Owen made us sure of the good but when he went away we were doubtful again its like turning on a light in a dark room it assures you of what's in the room but when its gone you are left wondering left doubting again

I am listening to the Atwater song while having a late dinner. The lyrics "So here I am above palm trees so straight and tall.
You are smaller, getting smaller. But I still see you." remind me of the book. Owen's vision that made him think he would be in Viet Nam and then when he was in Arizona.

Owen's/Simon's size and voice was an important element in both the book and the movie because children were comfortable with him and would listen to him. He was able to rescue the children because of their immediate response to his voice. Joe was trying, but the children did not respond to him. I see an analogy between Owen's constant practice of "the shot" and Simon's constant practice to see how long he could hold his breath. Both were necessary for him to perform a super human feat. I think Simon held that little kid up for about 160-180 seconds while Simon was submerged.  |

Oops, I just found out I'm not going to be able to make it. My schedule has been changed and I'm working 5pm-9:30pm EST. However, this will be the last week it will happen. I start a new job Wednesday that requires no late night work.
