I apologize for not being here. I forgot all about this and went to bed early. I was so tired because I didn't sleep well at all Friday night. I will be here this Saturday and I will be ready.

Hi folks, I will get off work tomorrow just at the time our book club normally meets, so I'm wondering if we could push it back a half hour or an hour? Don't know what my schedule for Sunday is, yet.
I'm up to page 260 now, and probably will not get to read any further until later tonight, when I read a bit before going to sleep. Although I'm off today, most of my time will be spent working on a speech I have to give tomorrow.

If we could move it to tomorrow night at 8, that'd be great. I am on Chapter 26 right now. I have no way of knowing what what the page numbers are as it is not listed on my Kindle.
I am helping a friend with homework via Skype, so if we have the meeting tonight, I may be slow to respond as I will be multitasking.

Well, my friend is super-late... so I'm not gonna wait for him all night. If we want to do it tonight, that is perfectly fine, I don't care. He needs to get his priorities straight, anyways. So, we can determine the time when Moon returns. Until then, I'll read another chapter or two since I don't know what chapter you guys are on.

Ok, which night is it? Tonight (Saturday) or Sunday? Tomorrow night at our regular time would actually be better for me. I got up at 4 am this morning to work on my speech (which went great) and am dragging a bit now. But, if need be, I think that I could probably hang on for a little while. I'm off tomorrow.

Thank you, friends. Giving the speach was crazy, scary, amazing, and transcendant all at the same time.
What more could you ever ask for?
I'll post more about it tomorrow, and I'll ready for our discussion tomorrow night! Let's just read as much as we can till then.

I'm glad the speech went well, Moon.
Jen, I'm not sorry that my friend did not show up. I'm used to that kind of thing.
I will be sure to read as much as I can and I'll be here tomorrow.

I felt Ray Flowers was sort of a hero what did you think of what he did I did too. As a former radio guy it really hit home when the army burst in during his talk show and the sergeant shot him. I was happy that his own men then mowed the sergeant down. The whole scene really amped up the danger, when you realized that not only had the United States government created the super-flu, but in spite of most of the population dropping like flies, were more concerned with covering it up than anything else. In fact, earlier in that chapter (26) we also saw the army take down and execute reporters at a Boston television station and the Los Angeles Times. At this point our own government seems more evil than Randall Flagg.

And scary at the same time. You just hope that guy was affected by the flu, but we all know there are people out there just as crazy without it. I also liked the monster-shouter guy.

In chapter 27 I think we get a pretty good clue that Frannie is one of the good guys, by the kindness she shows to Harold, a guy she formerly despised, and her struggle to get her father buried. She seems to be shaking off the flu, or she would have never have gotten it done.

I have been trying to figure out what book it could be that Nick Andros is reading at the beginning of chapter 33 which is described as "a gothic novel about a frightened governess who thought the lonely estate where she was supposed to be teaching the handsome master's sons was haunted. Although he wasn't even halfway through the book, Nick already knew the ghost was really the handsome master's wife, who was probably locked up in the attic, and crazy as a loon."
An Edgar Allan Poe story, maybe?

In the chapters we have just read we see the spread of mass panic and how it causes people to react in ways that only make the situation worse
What do you guys think of each of the main characters we are following what do you like and dislike about them
