I saw the movie "Ride" starring Helen Hunt. Richard Kind was her nervous boss. She was very confident and wouldn't listen to anyone who wanted to give her advice. She had some big job in New York City that allowed her to live in an apartment with a doorman and fly first class and rent a limo when she arrived. Most of the movie was about her learning to surf in California because that's what her son was doing, and she managed to convince the moron she had never left the city.

He was only in one scene. The rest of the time we could sort of hear him on the phone with her.

Richard Kind was a competing furniture salesman with wacky commercials on "The Goldbergs". He hired Murray's idiot brother, and Murray was glad to get rid of him. But the brother had created a memorable commercial that brought in lots of customers who wanted to meet the guy. Murray had to get him back and Richard was glad to get rid of him because ... well, he's an idiot.

I heard "Cute" by Neal Hefti on the radio. Since there are no DJs it could have been Count Basie. Hefti wrote the Batman theme song.

Over the weekend I saw the episode of "New Girl" where Schmidt and Cece tried to get their three-year old into a prestigious preschool. The parents were watching as the kids got tested and one very competitive parent just had to show his disappointment in his child. The result was a riot in which that parent got stabbed in the face with scissors. Someone said later that the man would end up with a permanent smile like Joker.

Bad news. I decided to watch the episode I recorded on the oldest TiVo. I don't know what happened but it was "Big Bang Theory" (and "Young Sheldon" after that, I'm sure). I know the digital adapter has to be activated to change the channel, but it always does that. Doesn't it?

If I had known … actually, I don't know where the remote is. Since the TiVo has its own remote and channels change automatically with the IRC cable, I don't need it.

I forgot to mention that when I watched those last two episodes on Fox, there was a commercial with the words "Will Gordon save them?" Not Jim, but Ramsay.

When I upgraded one of my TiVos by connecting it to the Internet, I got a message about a free trial with Netflix. I was going to wait, just in case I could take advantage of another opportunity, but even yesterday, I either typed the URL wrong or it didn't work anymore. I was still told I could get a free trial. And I was able to do it. Earlier in the week I checked to see what my options were for the remaining episodes. Netflix has them. I also need to figure out what I missed last year. So I will watch them soon.

I can't figure out how to back up on Netflix using my TiVo. I would really need to do this watching "Gotham". I missed at least the October 31, 2016 episode and hope I can find it. I'm going to watch that one Thursday if it works out at the library, where I know I can use the mouse to back up. I could do that with the computer at home, but I like watching TV on a TV so much better.

I saw the movie "Arena" starring Samuel L. Jackson. He would make a great Gotham villain. He had such a great personality but he was so evil. He arranged online fights to the death, unbelievably brutal, for people's entertainment. That part was more like "The 100", but those fights at least had a purpose which was keeping the human race alive.

I didn't see if a certain correction was made online. There's really no excuse for the mistake. In Charlotte, the Fox and CW affiliates swapped places, so it would be understandable.

I saw the movie "Ghost Rider". Nicolas Cage's best friend seemed familiar. When I saw the credits, it was Harvey.

On this week's "Single Parents", there was a social event where the single parents met with some other parents of the kids at the same school. One woman said her husband wrote for "Gotham". Will, the main character, got excited and asked, "All five seasons?" No answer.

On the Halloween episode of "Fresh Off the Boat", Louis was dressed as The Godfather because his neighbors chose him and his wife to be godparents. His wife thought he was Penguin and said he needed a top hat.

Later they were babysitting while the neighbors went to a Halloween party. Louis and his wife dressed as their neighbors hoping that would calm the baby down. The father said he may have had too much to drink, but did they switch bodies? Louis had disconnected the doorbell because of all the kids and said he didn't know why cutting wires was so stressful in movies.

The mayor was an annoying character on "Life in Pieces". The family was on vacation in The Bahamas and the one who is a doctor saved another man's life. The man wouldn't even acknowledge him when he saw the doctor again. However, it turned out that would mean admitting to his wife he was gambling. And the wife found out and the man blamed the doctor for breaking up his marriage. Then he found out he was a cousin of the doctor's wife because the doctor's wife's grandfather had an affair.

The promo for "Pennyworth" was similar to "Kingsmen" which excited me.

I thought EPIX (local channels 558-561) was a premium network that would cost extra. I just tuned to it and it is playing, but that might be temporary to lure us to want the programming.
