I found a lot of this episode to be humorous. Toby was wearing a loin cloth and talking about coconuts. Paige told him to put his leg down because she could see his "coconuts".
It was amazing that Sly casually walked across the tree trunk bridge, and apparently, he walked across it multiple times.
So many things went wrong, I imagined the writers sitting around and brainstorming disaster scenarios.
Ralph had a smart idea, but this time, he overlooked the danger involved in what he was doing. The pilot was very brave and rescued him.
Walter was not at all obnoxious under those difficult circumstances. I think he handled the stress very well while the others lost their humor.
I enjoyed it.

Regardless of how little Toby was wearing, he did keep his hat on.
Poor Paige needed someone to help her relate to the others. She was getting frustrated, and yet it was her job to help everyone relate to each other.
The entire team should have worked together, but they couldn't agree on the best approach.
Ralph's contribution was valuable, but it was the wrong thing to do. At least the pilot was there to rescue him.
I was so relieved when the other pilot was able to see what they did after all.
I couldn't tell whether Walter was obnoxious. He's hard to read. He just seemed like Walter to me.
Sly showing courage was just a result of his giving up.
And of course there's that final scene. We've all been waiting for Walter and Paige to have a scene like that. Well, some of us. That may have been Paige's blouse, not Walter's shirt, since it did look like that.

He probably wouldn't be as good, but Jess' boyfriend on "New Girl" has the look if not the personality that would make a good Walter.
And I meant to say back when I saw the episode of "The Great Indoors" that Jack, the adventurous type, was coached on how to deal with people by one of the geniuses. The opposite of this show.

I have always thought Walter was an extreme/illogical case when it came to responding to people. He seemed too brilliant to not know when he was being absolutely obnoxious.

I have always thought Walter was an extreme/illogical case when it came to responding to people. He seemed too brilliant to not know when he was being absolutely obnoxious. More than Sheldon Cooper? Yes, more than Sheldon. Their personalities are different. Sheldon was child-like, which made his comments funny. Walter was an autocratic leader of a think tank. Although Walter needed help coping with regular people, he knew when he was being rude. When he was irritated, he was intentionally rude and abrasive. It seemed to me they switched back and forth between Walter "knowing" and "not knowing" how his behavior affected others.

I just wonder how he compares to the real Walter.
Anyway, both Walter and Sheldon remind me of me in certain situations, which is unfortunate.

I found Tim annoying partly because he reminded me of "Hart of Dixie", and the same thing happened on "Nashville". Rachel Bilson, who was the doctor, played a character who got on my nerves and on everyone's nerves. She just didn't belong at all.
I thought I posted about them singing.

I mentioned what happens in the movie "Kingsman: The Secret Service" on the Salvation thread. It's an origin story of a James Bond type. The ending was a lot like this show except more violent. Only Cabe shoots people. But one member of the group had to knock out the villain's satellite by taking a weather balloon into space and firing missiles, only to have the villain figure out how to use another satellite. Our hero had just seconds to keep all the people in the world from killing each other. This looks like something Team Scorpion might have done.

After the two-part season premiere we really should return to this thread. I created a board for Scorpion and planned to create a thread for each upcoming season, but it is okay with me if we continue on this thread. Perhaps I should move the posts about the premiere to this thread to keep the comments together?

See the Vent Thread for why I had some trouble watching this episode.
I was surprised to see Cabe having such a need for money. As much as Scorpion makes for each job, I was thinking Cabe wouldn't have money problems. But then no one in the group seems to exactly be rich. I just never expected Cabe would have any trouble finding legal representation, but that could turn out to be a real problem. And Scorpion pretty much mortgages itself just to bail him out.
Naturally, Cabe is the one who has to stay home. They really needed him, but things worked out. And Ralph proved valuable to their effort.
It was convenient that when the bad guys were shooting, things got better at just the right time for the group to find a way out of their jam. And into another one.
I liked Paige's comment about Walter not getting to see her naked if he didn't help the pregnant deer.
Paige's contributions are still valuable. Even though she doesn't have any real training (though she did take some courses in something), she helps the members of the group to do things they couldn't otherwise do.
I had to laugh at Sylvester dropping the gun even though it happened at the worst possible time.
I just knew when they used the gas can as a weapon that they were going to need gas.

Cabe needed $500,000 to get out of jail. I think that was outrageous because he has a clean record.
I watched this episode right away, but I am watching so many shows, I overlook posting about some.
Kudos to Scorpion and the Animal Rights people for putting their lives in danger to save an animal. However, I put human life above animal life. I do despise poachers who kill endangered species.
I enjoyed Ralph and Cabe working together and seeing how much Cabe respects Ralph's abilities.

4.04 Nuke Kids on the Block

Scorpion was exciting. Happy’s tiff with Paige led to major problems. Of course, we know by now that there will always be major problems for the team.
Some funny scenes with Sly made me laugh – when he was put into the protective gear, then said he had to pee; later when he nervously estimated the size of something and rushed out of the room, the soldier asked, “Is he really our best hope?” Sly was impressive in his role as Alderman at the meeting and gained the respect of his aide.
When Walter said they needed to blow the fuel tank and launch/eject the warhead, that was exciting. I loved all of their reactions, including the soldiers, when the countdown reached one. They covered their heads, but that was not going to save them.
I liked the soldiers because they were calm and respectful in spite of the mess.
Walter admitted to Paige that he was afraid of being alone with her because he did not want to bore her.

It bothered me that the crisis this week was caused by Happy merely being careless. But it was all exciting.
The soldiers really knew everything that they needed to know. It's amazing how much they had to be able to tell the team.
I wondered why they did that "duck and cover" because that's a nuclear explosion. I've seen at least one James Bond movie where the bomb was defused at the very last second. I assumed it was just a dud.
Walter's head was down in the fuel and he was knocked out, and yet he had to be the one to come up with the solution? And he got criticized for being slow at doing it.
The people criticizing Sylvester's ability as an alderman were being unreasonable. Most people who do that have jobs. On 'The Mayor", I don't know how big the city is but Charlotte has 800,000 people and the mayor is just a figurehead who votes just like other city council members. And that little girl was being too hard on him. If they only knew the importance of the work Scorpion does.

This is complicated but I am hearing a song right now that Paige sang on "Smash", and in commercials for the episode. Not sung by her, though. It was a hit for someone else. The explanation is that a radio station I liked to listen to at the beach has made a change and it's no longer as good as it was. Since I can listen online, I do. My Wisconsin station is louder by default, as it turns out, so I can have the other station on in the background and hear how outrageous it is. It is encouraging when something out of character is played because that increases the hope that those of us who complained will get a new station. Most of them have found a station I don't like as much as they do but it has a lot of the good songs that are gone from the other station.
The DJ started talking as I was typing so I'm not hearing the song any more.
A very exciting episode. They were so lucky Cabe was hiding in that sensory deprivation device when everything started happening. I thought he didn't like that Laura Branigan song but he was singing it. Personally, I would have been happier with "How Am I Supposed to Live without You?". I wondered how he was able to figure out the doors would set off the bombs. And, of course, his getting in trouble made it hard for him to work with detectives on the outside. Toby and Happy were able to go to the bank but I wondered how in the world they would convince anyone to give them the password when there was a deadline. We sure found out!
And Cabe pretending to be the butler from the software! It was funnier when the man attacked him.
I didn't remember the men inside so I'm glad it was explained who they were. I do remember that Walter's software caused problems in a skyscraper. And that Paige went to work somewhere else. But I wouldn't have made the connection. Paige's actions were very valuable in getting them out of trouble. I don't understand how she has such skill with other people, but that's why they hired her.
How Sylvester got away with what he did is amazing. The proctor actually spent the whole time with him in the bathroom, and he was even still taking the bar exam. But what he had to do was an emergency. And he handled the situation quite well, showing just how much he had learned about the law. I thought maybe Sylvester would fail because he didn't finish but the proctor, being impressed with what he did, would help Cabe. But Sylvester actually passed!
I look forward to more of Walter and Paige together.
I forgot last week to mention that I had no idea Cabe was so old. He's three years older than I am. He is still so good at the physical stuff I just figured he looed old because he had been through a lot.

4.06 Queen Scary
10-30-17
At Halloween, the team takes on a case to prove the existence of ghosts on the Queen Mary but find a ship on a deadly collision course; Walter considers taking note of Paige's interests to benefit their relationship.

That's quite an elegant ship. The queen of "Reign" certainly deserves to be honored in such a way, if that is in fact the queen that ship refers to.
I couldn't believe the V-chip rating. Has this show ever gotten a TV-PG? In fact, it was a TV-PG with no letters. That's the cleanest rating that isn't a TV-G unless you use the TV-Y7 rating. That makes it kid-friendly! So I had my doubts, but they still managed to make the situation as dangerous to thousands of people as a typical episode does.
Paige's skills got plenty of use, and even some we didn't know she had. Imagine her being the one who found the solution.
I wondered how they'd get in a refinery and get them to do everything that had to be done, but they did it.
No ghosts. They had an explanation for everything.
And yet the TV show made them look wacko.

4.07 Go With the Flo(rence)

While watching Scorpion, I thought about the things Paige has done after accepting what sounded like a white-collar job. Winding up in a sewer and faced with the prospect of catching a rat had to be outside the scope of her job description.
MI6 tried to trick Scorpion into helping them confiscate a satellite that did not belong to them, but Walter respected Paige’s warning and got rid of the satellite.
It was funny when the new neighbor walked in and saw the man bound to a chair. I wonder what role she will play down the line. Maybe she will become close to Sly or maybe make Paige jealous.

Post by KyleEl on Nov 9, 2017 17:03:36 GMT -5
I was worried about the neighbor, but seeing how she reacted to the things Scorpion has to do made me realize maybe she will serve a purpose.
It just kept getting worse in the sewers. First they had to touch that device when it was in that mess that doesn't go farther down the line. Then it was in an even worse mess. Poor Paige had it in her clothes and had to touch it again. Then Sylvester fell in the worst of it. Well, maybe not the worst. What was left after all the other stuff got trapped. I felt so sorry for him.
If Paige needs beauty products to look that good, she should have them. But when she didn't use them, I went along with Walter. I couldn't see a difference.
Again, the episode was rated TV-PG.
