I just read a couple of comments about Torn and Frayed. (1) Yes, I bet Naomi has been torturing angels for a long time (2) Yes, I really need to see more Castiel, which makes time spent on boring characters annoying I'll handwave Alfie's torture porn, since that might have made story sense. Loved the vids, and hearing Misha is a regular again. Sharing Tumblr starminion.tumblr.com/post/44848898719/angelphile-unexpected-gifs-put-together

Got to skype with Kevin aka Osric today!!! He's such a super-cool guy with a ton of creative energy. I made him a new background for his Facebook page, one that included the coming "Fun Size" movie project he did, and Supernatual and Halo. Just for fun! I like to keep my hands busy even if the art isn't directly work-related. I might even get to work with him on an independent project he's planning! That would be so awesome, there's nothing like working with someone else who is also in a creative field. He's multi-talented and being able to share and build ideas with someone who can give back and enhance is why I love being a designer so much. For every local used-car or lawn-care ad I do for someone who can't imagine their way out of a paper bag, there's the time when I can work with someone who has a brain filled with color and light. I hope I can help him with his pitch! No dates or anything, lots of prep and planning needs to be done before it gets to the point of needing art. But its fun just thinking about it.

Cas had lots of emotions to deal with in this last episode, but in the end it was his human family (I think) that brought him back to being himself again.
So my question is, what happens to an angel when they pick up an angel tablet?

I agree it was his human family that saved him. He followed orders when he killed angels and demons, but forceful commands did not work when it came to his real family.
The tablet had a terrific glow when he touched it so I knew something special was happening. I think Castiel has been special all along but only God knew it or made it so at some special time. Castiel seemed confident about what he needed to do with the tablet. I trust him and think he is keeping the tablet from Dean for Dean's own protection - from both Naomi and all of Hell's demons.

Hi Anti, I agree that Castiel is and has been special, otherwise why would he keep being brought back? Cas stopped hitting Dean and dropped the angel blade before touching the tablet, so I think his humanity saved Dean and Cas. Imagine how Cas would have felt if he would have killed Dean As soon as he touched the tablet the glow started, but as i remember the demon tablet didn't change colors when anyone touched it, it only lit up when it put itself back together. So I guess my question is kind of the same, what happens to an angel when they touch the angel tablet, but then I would also ask, was is meant for Cas to be the one to get it?

Oh, very good points, November. I watched it again last night and this time, I noticed what Naomi was saying when she tried to convince Castiel to bring the tablet to her. Instead of continuing the "we can't let Crowley have it" dialog, Naomi switched to "you know what the tablet can do for us". So, I am going to take a guess and say the tablet can give angels more god-like abilities.

Hi, I am Nov and I am officially a nerd ;D
I watched the episode again last night and in the scene where Naomi is yelling at Cas saying that because of what Cas had done in heaven that she fixed him. Something in that reminded me of S7 7.21 RIF when Hester is talking to Dean and telling him that Cas was corrupted by the touch of Dean and that Dean had taken things from the angels(?) and that she will make Dean pay for that.
So Dean a human has corrupted an angel and Cas an angel has been corrupted by humans(humanity)?
Naomi says right before Cas picks up the tablet that he has to choose between us and them, and we see that Cas picked up the tablet and has chosen, so I wonder what this means for Cas?

I am Anti and I am also a nerd. I watched it again last night with my daughter and we both thought Castiel rode the bus so he would not be detected. But now that you point out that Castiel chose the humans over the angels, I wonder if he rode the bus because Naomi was able to cut him off from Heaven's power. I am not ready to panic yet, but I am concerned for our angel. P.S. Both my daughter and I wished we could board that bus with Cas.

I don't think she cut off his powers yet, I thought he rode the bus because to stay undetected as you said. I think Cas has spent enough time with humans and he is trying to stay under the radar the way he has seen others do it. And i would drive him personally to where ever he wanted to go ;D

After watching 8.21 at least 4 times and counting, I am wondering which version of the angel tablet story is true for Cas.
Naomi says that she thinks that when Cas touched the angel tablet, it broke her connection.
In watching that scene Cas drops the angel blade and stops hitting Dean before he touches the tablet, my opinion is it is his connection with his human family that breaks the connection.
In 8.21 when he sees the waitress that was nice to him bleeding and in great pain he instantly goes to her to save her, but the bad angels kept him from it. When Naomi kills the waitress, we see Cas's distress and sadness that his angelic family have yet again have done horrible things by killing those they are supposed to protect.
I think these last 2 episodes will be very rough for Sam and Cas based on what I have seen in the promos and pics for the next 2 episodes.

It took a long time for Naomi to brainwash Castiel to a point where she was convinced he would do as she wanted. Naomi did not anticipate that Castiel's love for Dean would break her control over him. I am certain that it was Cas' inner strength and love for humans that broke the hold rather than the angel tablet.
Although Crowley avoided stabbing Castiel in any vital organs, the blade obviously did some damage. I am very concerned for our angel.

I agree Anti, I think it was Cas's feelings for his human family that broke the hold.
I am worried about Cas as well, not only did he get shot, he had something pulled out of him and he dug something out of himself, that is going to hurt for a long time.
I still wonder why Naomi just left him after fighting so hard to get hold of him. are she and Crowley in it together?

I watched the episode a 2 nd time yesterday and when Crowley said "Let's see who blinks first", he did pull the trigger. I think Naomi left because she did not want to get shot.

That is true, he did pull the trigger, but she tried so hard to find Cas, why just leave him, why didn't she pop back in and get him? I am wondering if Naomi and Crowley are working together but like all of Crowley's partnerships, it is not working out very well. I wonder how Cas will feel about his angel family now after what Ion and Naomi have done to him, I wonder how Sam and Dean will feel about Cas and if they will trust him or have some lingering doubts? I just have lots of questions and I don't think we are going to get many answers.

NC, I would love to have answers to your questions too. I see what you mean about Naomi and Cas. She should have been watching and swoop in as soon as Crowley exited. Even though Dean was hurt (understatement, I know) by Castiel, he knows it was Naomi's fault. I am going to be very upset if their bond is broken because of Naomi. If Crowley and Naomi have a common interest, they might have a pact that Crowley gets the demon tablet and Naomi gets the angel tablet. I cannot think of any other reason. I bet Cas wishes he had another bullet so he could put it in Naomi's eye.

Cas and Metatron- I thought there was something not right about Metatron, I see that worked out, I was wanting to hope that Cas could have found one angel that he could have trusted. Cas was mighty angry at Kevin, I wish we would see that side of Cas more often, I found that to be a great reminder of his abilities and what he is capable of. I am wondering if Cas will retain any of his abilities and what kind of changes are in store for him next season. Please don't let him be the butt of jokes again, let him be able to learn and become a valuable ally of the guys. Although Cas had some allies who later turned against him, I do not think we have seen him with any real angel friends. Anna and Cas could not be friends because their beliefs made them act against each other. Dean and Sam are the only friends he has and we know how Dean treats Cas. I think Cas has thick skin which lets him get over Dean's snarkiness and that they will remain friends. Since Metatron told Cas to seek him when he arrives in heaven, does Metatron plan to run heaven all by himself? That doesn't even make sense to me. Geez. My favorite Cas is bad-ass Castiel. I hope the producers received enough grief from fans the last time they made Cas the butt of jokes that they will not do that in S9. That "baby in a trenchcoat" line had fans up in arms. I hope Cas retains some of his power like he did when he was cut off from heaven before.

I hope Cas has some powers also, I don't want him to not have anything, because I don't want to hear Dean say Baby in a trenchoat again. I don't know what Metatron's plan is either, I am not happy that he hurt Cas, and did what he did because he was mad and petty. I love bad ass Cas and the Cas that is not afraid and will do whatever needs to be done to help or protect his "family"
I am wondering what the direction will be for next season and what will happen, I don't really want to see Cas in a different direction than the guys, we need some form of TFW.

I think Cas will be sans-powers. It isn't like S05, when he was cut off from heaven: back then only his cable was cut to the power station, so to speak. He still had his grace. And I don't think he'll even be in a similar position to Anna before she got her grace back: heaven was still transmitting. Now heaven is closed and the angels are Fallen...the power plant is dark and angel radio has ceased broadcast.
Spectacular episode; that final scene was gripping in a way that I haven't experienced since watching the final scenes of LOST. Stunning in every possible way. Five out of five stars.

Favorite convention tweet:
Misha's agent told him to not accept a contract for season 9, but Misha signed it because of the fans.

I don't understand why Misha's agent told him not to sign it, to me it doesn't seem like the agent is doing a very good job of finding him other jobs to do. Misha has his own little projects he works on, but I don't think the agent is doing a very good job.

November, I agree. I notice that Misha free lances projects, especially ones that friends beg him to become a part of.
But his agent does not seem to be doing much for him. In fact, I did not think he even had an agent - for whatever reason.
