3.01 The Calm - With crime at an all-time low, Oliver lets his guard down and is taken by surprise by a new villain.
Oliver is broke and cannot afford to buy gifts so he made a silver arrow head as a gift for John Diggle’s baby. Diggle and Lyla are happy together. Diggle told Oliver that it would be a good time to get with Felicity.
Thea sent Oliver a text from some foreign land and I could tell mention of her name upset Roy. He has been doing a good job controlling his strength and helping Arrow on jobs.
Detective Lance promoted to Captain and he called a press conference to praise the Arrow and to disband the Anti-Vigilante Task Force. Laurel brought Oliver to the press conference so he could see that. Lance has a heart problem and needs to avoid field work.
Weird dude has doctored the Count’s Vertigo drug so that it causes the user to see his greatest fear, which gives him a major disadvantage in a fight.
Flashbacks show the problems Oliver had in Hong Kong during his nine attempts to escape his captors so he could contact his mommy.
Felicity looked beautiful on their date. They were both nervous. But Oliver said something to Felicity that was sure to melt anyone’s heart. He said when he came home, he was unable to trust anyone, and everyone was either a threat or a target. When he walked into Felicity’s office, she was the first one he could see as a person. Then weird Werner Zytle, vertigo dude shot a missile into the restaurant. Oliver picked up injured Felicity and took her to the lair. It looks as if that killed any chance they have for a relationship. But Oliver really does love her.
Arrow and Lance confronted Zytle and he shot Arrow with the drug. Nice Arrow versus Oliver battle ensued. Lance and Arrow saved each other’s life. When Lance suffered a coronary artery spasm, Zyrtle escaped – with an arrow in his back.
Surprise ending…After Sara and Laurel chatted and hugged on a roof top, someone shot three arrows into Sara and she fell off the roof. She looks dead. Laurel took her to Arrow’s lair and does not want her father to know Sara is dead because of his weak heart.

3.02 “Sara” - Another archer comes to town and targets businessmen; Laurel considers sharing a secret with Lance.
There’s another archer in town that is killing financiers, but he is not the person who killed Sara. We do not know who killed Sara and Oliver said the League does not target their own, so it was not them. The entire team is under extreme pressure and emotional pain because of Sara’s death.
During flashbacks to Hong Kong, we saw that Tommy traveled there to search for Oliver. He was targeted for death because Oliver’s handler did not want anyone asking questions about Oliver. Oliver and a Japanese assassin devised a plan to save Tommy.
We saw some really good fights between the archers and Roy has become an excellent fighter too.

There is a new recurring character named Ray Palmer. He is a billionaire who outbid Oliver for control and ownership of Queen Industries. His big plan is to rebuild the company and the city with the new name of "Star City". He is handsome and charming and has his sights on Felicity.

The storm caused interruptions during important scenes of the show but did not seem to affect the commercials. I need to start over on-line because the episode is too good for me to miss some of the scenes.

Oliver, Roy and Diggle arrived on an island Corto Maltese (that I never heard of) to find Thea. They don’t know she is with her father who can whip all of their butts with one hand tied behind his back. We saw a scene where Merlyn was training Thea and the training was worthy of those Kung Fu movies where they taught self-control by torturing the student.
When clueless Oliver knocked on the door, Merlyn was standing 10 feet away on the other side and had an arrow aimed at the door. Lucky Oliver was distracted by someone who knew where his sister worked. Thea has been gone five months and Ollie really wants her to come home. She refused both Oliver’s and Roy’s requests. When Oliver was revealing the truth to Thea, the show skipped to a commercial.
Felicity’s new boss gave her an Executive Assistant named Jerry to run errands for her. He also gave her a beautiful corner office that left her with her jaw dropped. Her boss seems too good to be true.
Ted Grant, another handsome dude, was approached by Laurel Lance who was looking for a punk. Their almost hostile conversation is probably foreplay for later meetings. I am pretty sure Laurel will contact him for fight lessons after she got beaten up.
I missed Thea’s training and important scenes about Diggle’s assignment. I need to watch on-line to see what happened.

I hope Malcolm did not shoot Sara. Maybe it is someone I have not seen.

More comments about the island now that I have been able to watch the entire episode on line:
It was a good episode and I think the events are the catalyst for what the characters will do in the future.
Oliver showed a willingness to accept advice from Diggle and modified the amount of information he gave Thea. Talking to Thea about what happened after the Gambit sank was a major step for Oliver.
Diggle’s assignment revealed there are unscrupulous people who want to obtain information on soft targets like his family members. I am wondering if that will affect the amount of time he is willing to spend in the field. Also, the agent told Diggle that he was willing to do anything to get away from Argus. Will that affect the way Diggle feels about his partner working for Argus? She made a significant statement to him: "I do whatever Amanda Waller wants."
Roy is more mature and showed that by wishing Thea happiness although she would not return home with him. I wonder if his heart will be broken if Thea refuses him when she returns to Starling.
I am a Malcolm Merlyn fan so, of course, I am happy he did not die. His training helped Thea ignore the pain when coffee was splashed on her at the station.
I admire the show for giving us strong women like Felicity, Sara, Thea and Laurel, plus the women of the Order of Assassins. Watch out Oliver - one of them is looking for Sara!
Ray Palmer is too good. I do not know if he is a villain, but I am not ready to trust him.

A moment before Sara was arrowed, she asked the person what are you doing here and she obviously recognized the person. I am going to make a wild guess and say it was a member of the Assassins. I refuse to think it was Malcolm.

"someone from Olivers flashback" could be Amanda. The last episode plus previous episodes painted her as an evil person.

By accusing Malcolm Merlyn of killing Sara; then everyone will try to kill Malcolm.

3.05 The Secret Origin of Felicity Smoak - A cyber attack pushes Felicity and Oliver to their limits -- and brings Starling City to its knees.
There were no flashback scenes regarding Oliver’s lost five years, but we saw flashbacks from Felicity’s college years. Like so many college students, Felicity and her friends were activists and believed they could solve the problems of the world through hacking government computer systems. At first, I did not recognize Felicity when she wore very dark eye shadow and dark hair. Felicity’s boss reminds me of Clark Kent. He is so easy going and focused on his projects. She is lucky to have a boss like that. I think he might be sweet on her, but it is difficult to tell because every time he tries to talk to her, she is distracted by something involving Arrow’s team. Arrow, Diggle and Roy used their awesome skills to thwart the criminals and rescue Felicity and her mother. Her mother was so different from Felicity that one of the guys asked her if she was adopted. Thea bought/rented a spectacular loft apartment with some of Merlyn’s money and I thought Oliver should share it with her. He was upset that she would accept anything from Merlyn’s estate, but I hope he accepts the offer to move in. We caught a glimpse of Merlyn watching Thea and Oliver as they sat together and watched TV. Malcolm never wanted to hurt Oliver and they were all family friends for years. There was a great shock at the end of the episode when we learned the possible identity of the person who killed Sara. It does not make sense yet, and I hope it is a false alarm.

I wonder why Felicity has a job outside of helping Oliver for? Oliver has no money to pay Felicity. He has been sleeping in a locked room at the club. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using proboards
