In "Flash vs Arrow", Oliver, Felicity and Diggle teamed up and fought with Barry. During the episode, Oliver met Iris at the coffee shop and she gushed all over him. She was definitely star struck and said he was one of the 3 men on her list that she would cheat on Eddie with, but she never expected to meet him. Iris went on to compare Oliver to Barry and said Oliver's arms were twice the size of Barry's. Barry was already jealous of Eddie and Arrow and Iris’ comments did not help. Oliver saw that and advised Barry that men like them don’t get the girl…then Oliver looked at Felicity and Iris. His meaning was clear.

In the last episode, Ray Palmer and Felicity convinced an owner to sell his mine to Palmer Industries because Ray's dream was to create green energy and give it free to Starling City. Why? Because Ray is a swell guy. I said early on that he is too good to be true so maybe I am just suspicious of him, but I got the impression he wants to use the product from the mine to create some type of atomic powered suit.

Flash vs Arrow competition continues tonight.
3.08 The Brave and the Bold (12-3-14) - Oliver and the Flash team up as they try to stop a killer named Digger Harkness.
More detailed description of the episode:
Arrow 3x08 "The Brave and the Bold" - PART TWO OF THE ARROW AND FLASH CROSSOVER EVENT — Oliver (Stephen Amell), Arsenal (Colton Haynes) and Diggle (David Ramsey) track down the location of a boomerang-wielding killer named Digger Harkness (guest star) but are surprised when they come face to face with an A.R.G.U.S. team. Diggle asks Lyla (guest star) why A.R.G.U.S. is involved but she defers until Harkness attacks the building, killing several agents and targeting Lyla. The Arrow joins the fight and gets help from an old friend – The Flash (guest star Grant Gustin). Harkness manages to get away and Oliver teams up with Barry again to find him before he can get to Lyla. When Harkness plants five bombs in the city that are timed to explode at the same time, both teams must come together to save the city. Jesse Warn directed the episode with story by Greg Berlanti & Andrew Kreisberg, and teleplay by Marc Guggenheim & Grainne Godfree Schwartz (#308). Original airdate 12/3/2014.

Flash vs Arrow episodes have been my favorite ones. It was so freakin' awesome! Both teams were there. I'll be back after I watch The 100.

Has there been any indication as to who these characters are or, more importantly, who they are destined to become?

Has there been any indication as to who these characters are or, more importantly, who they are destined to become? In the November 19 episode, we saw a virtual image of a suit that Ray Palmer is working on, but no indication of who would be using it or for what purpose. I do not know if Palmer is super good or super slick. Is he going to be an ally? Is he interested in Felicity because of her affiliation with the Arrow? I am so curious. Ted Grant is a boxing instructor and ally of Laurel Lance. He did mention that several years ago, he played a vigilante role similar to Arrow's, but I do not recall a hero's name for him.

Traditionally, They would both be good guys. Ray is The ( Silver Age ) Atom and Ted is ( Golden Age ) Wildcat. Wildcat had teamed up with Black Canary ,also Golden Age, on several occasions.

You are being so helpful and I do want to view the events and characters in the light in which they were intended. Now I can relax. Timmy, it is just my opinion, but if you have not watched it yet, I think you personally could jump ahead and watch the Flash vs Arrow episodes, Flash first, of course. The "spoilers" would not really be spoilers for you because you know the backstory. The fans are going wild and I want you to be a part of that.

I have no intention of watching any more episodes. Even though Diggle was Pastor Randolph on UPN. Everything I liked about the episode was related to the guest stars from "The Flash".
Was it lighter because of them?

Edit: I have not read any reviews on the episode. The following comments are just my views and thoughts on a series that I love.
Yes, "The Brave and the Bold" lightest moments were because of the guests but there were humorous comments by Arrow’s team also. The episode was great because it blended the lighter touch of Flash with the darker touch of Arrow and it worked.
There is no black and white, just gray Arrow fans know quite well that A.R.G.U.S. is an agency that places little value on the lives of some of its agents. Diggle and Queen have both been fortunate to get on the wrong side of A.R.G.U.S. and survive. Digger Harkness had a legitimate grievance against Lyla because she tried to exterminate him when the plan did not succeed. As Lyla and Oliver agreed, there is no black and white, just gray.
I think the episode did an excellent job of using the flashbacks to help us understand why Arrow knows that he might have to take extreme measures sometimes to prevent an even greater evil. I enjoyed the way Barry and Oliver were able to hash that out and gain a better understanding of each other and work out their own demons.
The dialogue throughout the episode showed a gradual change in perception. After Arrow shot the bomb maker and threatened to hurt him further, Flash told Arrow something was wrong with him because he tortured the bomb maker. I liked Arrow’s response: “I’m sorry I’m not as emotionally healthy as you.”
Cisco’s theory that perhaps the meta-humans, like Barry, were given powers to deal with the crazy evil stuff that had been happening, then topping it with a Cisco-ism of “You gotta admit it’s all freakin’ cool, right?”.
Caitlin and Cisco telling Roy and Felicity that they do not know how they can live the way they do. They admitted they have not been taking things seriously and it had always been a game. We give the bad guys code names and the fact that the meta-humans have powers makes it seem more clean and less real.
Lyla's and Oliver’s conversation in which they explain sometimes courage is not enough; sometimes you have to be bold. Their glances indicated Diggle and Barry do not truly understand that.
Teamwork The groups worked very well as a team. I really liked the way Arsenal and Arrow worked fluidly in the first dangerous scene and I liked their color coordinated green arrows and red arrows that were used to detonate some bomb traps. When A.R.G.U.S. said to let it go and Arsenal turned to Arrow to ask are we going to let this go, I laughed at Arrow’s expression when he replied what do you think?
The scene that alternated between Arrow speeding on a bike and the lightning effects of Flash running was awesome. There was a nice humorous touch of Flash speeding past Thea.
After the arrow toting duo saved Lyla by deflecting some boomerangs, we were treated to a beautiful hand-to-hand combat dance between Boomerang, Arsenal and Arrow. Then, Flash did a beautiful pirouette while catching – yes, catching – boomerangs to save Arrow from harm. Exciting!
The ladies’ quick reaction in the Arrow cave when Harkness attacked them saved their lives. Then everyone depended on Barry’s speed to get Lyla to the hospital. That was excellent teamwork.
Of course, the most important teamwork happened when they caught up with Boomerang at the train station. Flash was a hero and removed everyone from the train station. While Arrow distracted Boomerang with his fighting skills, Flash zipped around the city to locate five bombs. As a reminder of how smart Barry is, he realized the solution was to grab four members of the team – first Roy, then Caitlin, then Felicity and lastly Cisco - and place them at the bomb sites. Then Cisco took charge and did a countdown to deactivate the bombs. They did all of that in less than 90 seconds. That’s what I call teamwork!
Heartwarming moments:
Oliver telling Barry he thinks the bolt of lightning chose him and that Barry can inspire people.
Conversation between Barry and Oliver in which Barry assured Oliver he has a light inside him.
The many “she’s not my wife” and “she’s not his wife” and then Diggle proposed to Lyla in the hospital.
At Oliver’s request, a suit was made for Barry for the next time he is in town. But Oliver insisted he will still call the shots. Cisco also upgraded Oliver’s suit with Kevlar and other improvements, but left the hood for sentimental value.
Several times Oliver and Felicity exchanged glances that revealed their special bond – the Arrow cave, the island’s landmines and the hood.
Barry telling Oliver that the Arrow is a douche, but Oliver Queen can inspire people.
Their friendly debate over who would win the competition between the two of them followed by the beginning of the battle, fade to black.
This is a long post so I am going to talk about the lighter moments that I enjoyed in my next post.

Felicity and others have always provided a lot of humor in their episodes and this one was no exception. Amusing moments in no particular order:
Cisco and Caitlin admitting to Felicity they really came to Starling City because they want to see the Arrow cave and Cisco wants to see Arrow’s toys. Do you have an Arrowmobile?
Roy: “Since when did you start selling admission to the Arrow cave?
Salmon ladder: When Caitlin asked what the salmon ladder was for, Felicity responded that it was a distraction.
...Flash speeding up and down the salmon ladder and being cocky and nonchalant.
Cisco: After Thea served them, Cisco wanted to know who was that hottie. The responses “my ex-girlfriend” and “Oliver’s sister” quickly shut him down.
...He enjoys playing with gadgets and had installed a camera into Flash’s suit.
...Cisco trying to pull up on the ladder.
...Acting like a fan boy when Roy and Oliver went into fight mode and grabbed their gear.
...Telling Roy the red suit is so much cooler than the green suit.
...Later grinning and giving Roy thumbs up after he dons the red suit.
...After giving the countdown to defuse the bombs, he said “Screw you Captain Boomerang.”
Barry: Barry speeding out to get sushi and then looking as if he is being called into the principal’s office when Oliver said he needed to talk to him.
...When Oliver was gravely explaining that the boomerangs would take some time to reassemble, Barry reassembled about 5 or 6 of them in a split second.
...After Arrow said to watch the back of the building, he went in through the front and Flash had already tied up all of the villains and was looking cocky.
...Flash, once again, zooming in to tie up multiple guys while waiting for Arrow and Diggle.
...Captain Lance’s shock when Flash zipped the bomb maker to his office and cuffed him to a cabinet without the Captain even getting a glimpse of Flash.
Arrow: The look he gave Felicity when he accused her of being the culprit for people calling the lair the Arrow cave.
...The look he gave Felicity when she said there were landmines on his island.
...His snarky comments.
...Shooting an arrow into Boomerang’s hand and smirking when Flash said he could not resist doing that.
...Committing Boomerang to a cell with Slade Wilson. OMG!

I hope you enjoyed it anyway, Jeff. This episode was not dependent on the Flash episode. The connection was:
Flash and Arrow competing and fighting each other.
The two teams working together on one of Flash's cases.
The Boomerang villain showed up at the end of the Flash episode, but was not one of his cases.
It was special because the fans enjoyed seeing them together.
